Whoa! It’s February already and the year is off to a fast start!
I hope all of our members are well and or on the mend. January
was a somewhat slow month with not much going on.
February really starts things going with the Valentine cruise and
we have a lot more activities in the coming months. Check the
web page to view the upcoming events.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the next regular meeting on Feb. 10, 2015.

Classic Glass Corvette Club General Meeting Minutes
January 13, 2015
President Ken Cearns opened the meeting at 7:30 pm. Welcome to everyone! Glad to see everyone and looking forward to 2015. We have two new members on the Board of Directors: Cindy Cowart and Bill Norman. Cindy is moving over from her position as Treasurer. Phil Lewis is the new VP of Activities. Dawn Norman was appointed again this year as Secretary and Kim Dover will be our Treasurer.
Secretary Dawn Norman stated that she did not take any notes during the December Christmas Party; however, she was reminded that it was an official meeting. Therefore, if she had written the minutes, they would state “We voted in our 2015 Club Officers and everyone had a good time at the party.” Calvin Cruce made a motion to accept the “verbal minutes”; Doug Reed 2nd, all in favor.
Treasurer Cindy Cowart (for Kim Dover) mentioned the Treasurer’s report is on the Web Site. Cindy will be helping through April. Doug Reed made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as submitted, Rick Engle 2nd, motion passed.
VP of Activities Phil Lewis said that the basic activities for the year have been posted on the Web Site. He is working on establishing information for additional events. The link for the Valentine’s Cruise is on the Web. Phil is accepting suggestions for activities and possible event leaders.
VP of Membership Sara Diehl said we have 199 members as of tonight. 70 members are in attendance along with six guests and a few new members. The new members are: Gene Persinger; Robert & Angela Thomas; and William Hart. The drawing for the $70 went to Mike Hollstein.
VP At Large Sandi Johannes said we collected $213 for the 50/25/25 drawing - $105 for the Club and then $54 each went to Charlie Koninsky and Drexel Stevens.
Board of Directors:
Chaz Cone – nothing for tonight Calvin Cruce – nothing for tonight Cindy Cowart – very glad to be elected Bill Norman – glad to be able to serve on the Board
NCM Ambassador Doug Reed talked about the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl Parade. Everyone had a good time and hopefully next year the parade won’t be so early. It was early due to the TV schedule for the game.
Doug sold all of his tickets for the next NCM drawing to be held on 1/29/15.
56.4% of our membership are also NCM members. CGCC is a Lifetime Business Member of the Museum and also an Acre Club member and as such, we receive advance information about various events. We will list the events in the newsletter as they are known. During the building of the Museum’s Motorsports Park, acre parcels were available for purchase price of $15,000. The Club bought one and we are about 2/3 of the way through paying for it. Proceeds from VetteStock along with anonymous donations from Club Members go toward paying for the Acre. Wayne Ray has a free membership to the Museum. He will bring it and give it away at the February meeting.

Our Volunteer weekend is usually in June. Doug has not yet put it together for this year. The Bash is in April and registration is now open.
The Sinkhole is now being filled. Last year the Museum had record attendance due to the sinkhole.
Ken thanked the Wait Staff. They work hard for our tips. Please be kind.
Club Store Manager Jim Johannes showed the Club Shirts which are light gray with navy trim. These colors were chosen as they will be more comfortable in the hot sun than black. Please buy and wear the club shirt at Events to show Esprit de Corps. The shirts are 90% cotton. The price is $26 with an additional $4 to include your name.
Newsletter Editor Alan Zeppenfeld was not in attendance; however, Linda Greer is taking his place for a few months. Please send them items of interest for the newsletter.
Webmaster Chaz Cone said that we have 199 members, but only 104 Corvettes are in the “Garage”. Please send a photo and short bio about your car so we can post in the “Garage”.
Wayne Mobley has a 2014 C7 Night Race Blue, Z51 Stingray for sale. Value $73,000, asking $59,000
New Business: Ken asked some members who did not rejoin why they didn’t – some said they did not have enough time; however one single lady indicated that she found it hard to mingle with us; no one reached out to her. So please, when you see new members, welcome them in and make them feel part of us.
Sharon Guck congratulated Ken on being re-elected as President.
Phil reminded all that he is looking for suggestions for events.
Ken had a one-day pass for the Auction in Kissimmee (donated by Carl Etter) – it went to Sharon Guck (she had the closest number that Ken had picked).
Next Board of Directors meeting is February 3, 2015 and the next General Club meeting is February 10, 2015.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Norman
2015 CGCC Secretary

Museum Reports Highest Attendance in History (NCM e-News January 15, 2015 / Doug Reed, NCM Ambassador)
The National Corvette Museum (NCM), located just off I-65 in Bowling Green, KY, has reported achieving their
highest attendance in history at 251,258 visitors for the year. Previously the Museum’s highest attendance
was 200,900 in 1999 (the Museum’s 5th Anniversary).
While the Corvette-swallowing sinkhole became an international news media sensation, attracting the
majority of the additional guests for the year, the Museum also celebrated its 20th Anniversary and grand
opening of the new NCM Motorsports Park, boasting over 38,000 in attendance for the festivities. In addition,
the continued interest in the new seventh generation Corvette (with Plant tours re-opening in October, 2013)
gave visitors yet another exciting reason to visit the Home of Corvette in 2014.
“The bar has certainly been raised for all of us as we now focus on 2015,” said Wendell Strode, Executive
Director of the NCM. “Continuing our commitment to make sure each visitor has an experience that exceeds
their expectations will ensure our 2015 will be a success."
The GM Corvette Assembly Plant also reported an increase in visitation for 2014, with a total of 55,785 guests
touring the facility. The Plant began tracking visitation numbers in 2006, with 45,845 guests that year.
Museum attendance was 150,462 in 2013, making 2014’s numbers a 100,000 or 67% increase.

Sinkhole Update: As of January 15, 2015, with the exception of a small area surrounding our HVAC duct,
the filling of the sinkhole is complete. The SMD team used "manufactured sand" (a crushed limestone) to fill the hole, and with the aid of two remote controlled Bobcats, the sand was spread and compacted throughout the process. It took 10 days to fill it. You can watch last week's video update on that process here.

Dyer Family Foundation Helps Make 1983 Corvette Display a Reality
(NCM e-News January 15, 2015)
All thanks to the generosity of the Dyer Family, the National Corvette Museum is proud to finally have a proper exhibit for the only 1983 Corvette in existence. In memory of Calvin and Frances Dyer, both Corvette enthusiasts, the Dyer family presented the National Corvette Museum with a grant to be used towards a new 1983 Corvette display.
The 1983 Corvette exhibit, previously located in the Skydome of the Museum, was originally mixed in with other Corvettes, simply blending in with its surroundings. Just prior to the sinkhole, the Corvette was placed on one of the pedestals in the Skydome. Today, while renovations in the Skydome are in progress, the 1983 is featured in the Gateway of the Museum, earning the attention it deserves.
Read the complete details about this new display on our blog here.

Ivan and Mary Schrodt Donate Five Corvettes (NCM e-News January 22, 2015)
The National Corvette Museum received an early holiday gift when on December 18 Ivan and Mary Schrodt donated five of their prized Corvettes.
"When people find out that you have more than one Corvette, they often wonder why that is. My answer is that they are all so different," said Ivan. "They handle differently, they look different, their history is different and the way they evolved makes them all special."
Ivan and Mary have always been car lovers, but their Corvette passion started when Mary surprised Ivan by purchasing a 1996 Polo Green Convertible. They joined the Valley Vettes Corvette Club of Appleton, WI and shortly after, attended the C5 Bash and became members of the Museum. The couple is now not only Lifetime Members of the Museum, but also in the Duntov Society (including the Museum in their estate planning) and Ivan has served on the Museum's Board.
In addition to their first Corvette, the Schrodt’s donated a 1966 Rally Red 327 Convertible, 1980 Dark Blue Metallic Coupe, 2002 Millennium Yellow Z06 and 2007 Black Z06.
While the cars were originally in a trust for the Museum, their visit to the Motorsports Park set in motion the decision to change those plans. "I got to thinking that instead of waiting years before making the donation, we've got two cars that could be put to good use now by the Museum on this track. The cars would be where they belong. While a lot of people donate their cars to be preserved, and rightfully so for their history, those two cars were donated to be used up. We hope they get a lot of track miles and give a lot of track smiles," Ivan added.
Read more on the Schrodt's story online here, and to learn more about estate planning option please visit our
website here, or contact Connie Russell at 270-467-8815.

Corvette Racing at Daytona
The top spot on the podium in the GTLM class was reserved for Corvette at the end of the recent Rolex 24
Hours of Daytona. The class winning effort by the trio of drivers gave Corvette a win in the second year of its
return to Daytona with 725 laps completed. Read entire story by clicking link above.
Not So Mellow Yellow
When you have a car like a Z06, you're tempted to leave it alone, knowing the factory put a little extra effort
into making it special. Sometimes, though, the modding bug just bites really hard and you have to make it
unique and different. Read entire story by clicking link above.
DID YOU KNOW
Corvette has a winning tradition at Daytona that dates back to beach events in 1956 when John Fitch won the
production sports car class with a top speed of 145.543 mph and Betty Skelton came in second with a
137.773-mph run. Zora Arkus-Duntov had the fastest time in the modified class with a 147.300 mph run.

Wife’s Letter to Husband
My darling husband,
Before you return from your business trip, I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick-up truck when
I turned into the driveway. Fortunately it's not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me.
I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead
of the brake.
The garage door is slightly bent but fortunately the pick-up came to a halt when it bumped into your car.
I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for
you my sweetheart.
I am enclosing a picture of the damage for you to see now.
I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.
Your loving wife,
