Consular Outreach Mission for the Overseas

Filipino Community in Sevilla, Spain and nearby

areas.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and

the Overseas Voter´s Registration were also part

of the Consular Mission in Sevilla.

The Overseas Voting Registration Team conducted

off-field registrations in various remmitance centers

and Filipino restaurants in Madrid to allow Filipinos

to register during weekends.

08 September 2017

H.E. Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier and Madame

Edna D. Lhuillier were inducted as new members of

the Real Esclavitud de Santa Maria de la Almudena,

during a mass at the Almudena Cathedral last

September 8, 2017.

The Real Esclavitud de Santa Maria de la Almudena

is one of the oldest existing associations in the

Spanish Catholic Church


10 September 2017, Madrid

H.E. Ambassador Philippe Jones Lhuillier

was the Guest of Honor and Inducting

Officer during the oath-taking of the 2017

officers of the Solid Duterte Movement

Spain (SDMS) held last 10 September

2017 at Anthony’s Place, Calle Sandoval

16, 28010 Madrid. The newly-inducted

officers of SDMS were led by Manolo

Donaire Valdez, President.




Labor Attaché Joan Lourdes D. Lavilla and

Welfare Officer Nesa S. Nolido

spearheaded the learning session on

Occupational Safety and Health as part of

the Philippine Overseas Labor Office´s

development programs.

POLO also gave updates on its programs

and Services for the information of thepublic.



The Office of the Philippine Defense

and Armed Forces Attaché headed

by Col. Romulo A. Manuel, Jr. PA,

officiated the awarding of

Certificates of Appreciation to the

members of Security Committee

that rendered duty during the

celebration of 2017 Barrio Fiesta on

2 July 2017. Also present during

the event were Mr. Avenger Marinas

of POLO and TSg Leo Flores,

Admin Assistant.

different Filcom organizations on

10 September 2017 at the

Philippine Embassy, Madrid,

Spain.





Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier received Mr.

David Navarro, Director General of Casa Asia.

During the meeting, Casa Asia Director

General Navarro reiterated its interest for

further cooperation between the Embassy and

Casa Asia.

Also present during the meeting were Casa

Asia Program Director Ms. Teresa Gutierrez

Del Alamo, Third Secretary and Vice Consul

Raisa A. Mabayo and Administrative Officer

Chester A. Diaz.


The Office of the Philippine Defense and

Armed Forces Attaché spearheaded the formal

launching of the “Support Our Troops” project.

The project aims to provide support to the

medical needs of Philippine soldiers who are

casualties of different engagements.

ODAFA Administrative Assistant TSgt. Leo

Flores launched the project in cooperation with

the Filipino Community in Spain.


Ambassador Lhuillier also met with the

Counsellor President of the Tetuan District in

Madrid, Ms. Montserrat Galceran Huguet.

The District of Tetuan is where most Filipinos

are residing.

of the Philippine Overseas Labor

Office of the Philippine Embassy in

Tripoli. Mr. Malik was in Madrid for the

turn-over of documents and cases in

Morocco. Labor and welfare matters

concerning Filipinos in Morocco were

transferred from Tripoli PE to Madrid

16 September 2017, Pozuelo de Alarcon

The Philippine Embassy family joined

other ASEAN countries in the ASEAN

Family Day which was held at the

residence of the Indonesian Ambassador

in Pozuelo de Alarcon.

The family day was aimed at promoting

camaraderie among ASEAN collegues

and their families. Various family games

and activities were jointly undertaken by

the member countries. A Karaoke

Singing contest was also held wherein

the Philippines´very own, Ms. Cristine

Barbo, won second place. Mr. Ronald

Dearao of the Consular Section was the

champion for the musical chair event.




23 September 2017, Las Palmas de Gran

Canaria

The Philippine Embassy in Madrid rendered

Consular Outreach Mission in Las Palmas de

Gran Canaria, Spain on 23 September 2017 to

bring its services closer to the Filipinos in the

island of Canarias and its neighboring areas.

Las Palmas is approximately 1,932.8 km from

Madrid. The team was ably assisted by the

Philippine Honorary Consulate in Las Palmas

headed by Honorary Consul Maria del Pilar

Lopez Cabrera and the Filipino community

organizations in Las Palmas.


The Overseas Registration team

conducted off-field registration in various

Filipino restaurants in Madrid to

encourage Filipinos to register.

23-26 September 2017, Barcelona

The Philippines participated in the recently

concluded World Routes 2017, held on 23-26

September 2017 at the Fira Gran Via,

L’Hospitalet, Barcelona. The PH booth, located

in the central part of the exhibition space,

highlighted PH’s most popular destinations and

included a stand for dried mangoes and DOT

notepads as souvenirs. There was also a bar

with a Filipino bartender who performed “flair

bartending” to attract guests to the booth.

The Philippines was nominated for the Best in

Destination Marketing award category, along

with Canary Islands Tourist Board, Madrid

Destino, Malta Tourism Authority, Tenerife

Tourism Corporation, and Tourism Ireland.

Although Tenerife Tourism Corporation won, PH

was the only non-European tourism authority to

be nominated.





H.E. Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier met with

Tecniberia (Asociacion Española de Empresas

de Ingeneria) to discuss possible cooperation

between the organization and the Embassy.


Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier was invited to

attend the preparatory meeting for the I Foro

Global de Gobiernos Locales which was

presided by Mr. Juan Espadas Cejas, Mayor of

Sevilla and held at Club Cámara Madrid.

I Foro Global de Gobiernos Locales: Destino

Sevilla is the Global Forum for Local

Governments which will be held in Sevilla on

22-24 November 2017. Invitations to participate

in the forum were extended to the Cities of

Manila, Cebu and Baler .


Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier also

received a delegation from Manila.





The Philippine Embassy in Madrid

commemorated the actual date of signing of

the establishment of Diplomatic relations

between the Philippines and Spain in a simple

ceremony held at the Embassy.

30 September 2017, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Philippine Embassy in Madrid rendered

Consular Outreach Mission in Tenerife, Spain

on 30 September 2017 to bring its services

closer to the Filipinos in the island of Tenerife

and its neighboring areas. Tenerife is

approximately 2,031.5 km from Madrid. The

team was ably assisted by the Philippine

Honorary Consulate in Tenerife headed by

Honorary Consul Julio Morales Rodriguez and

the Filipino community organizations in

Tenerife.





The Philippine Embassy in Spain

commemorated the 70th Anniversary of

the Establishment of Diplomatic

Relations between the Philippines and

Spain on 28 September 2017 at the

Instituto Cervantes, Calle Alcala 49 in

Madrid. Around 120 guests from the

Spanish government, diplomatic corps,

academe, and business sector were on

hand to celebrate the event, which also

featured a mini-exhibit of photos of

former and current Philippine

Ambassadors to Spain during their

presentation of credentials to the Kings

of Spain, and a replica of the treaty that

formally established relations between

the Philippines and Spain.

The Secretary-General of the Instituto

Cervantes, Mr. Rafael Rodriguez-Ponga

Salamanca, extended greetings on

behalf of the Spanish government. Rep.

Benhur Salimbangon from the 4th District

of Cebu was also a guest speaker at the

event.
