Inside this issue:
Your destiny will be challenging, and that is a good thing. As my college coach used to tell us: “Excellence is hard, if it was easy everybody would be doing it”.
How would you describe a happy ending for your life? What role does your job, and your retirement play in your vision? My guess is your job does not play as big a role as your retirement. As such, then what role should retirement savings play today in creating your
plan for the perfect ending. That is why we talk about savings buckets: your ESOP account, your 401K, Social Security, home equity. A sound plan includes all of these, and requires investment and maintenance.
Life changes you. Things do happen – to all of us!
There will be daily challenges – some you bring upon yourselves as a result of your actions (or inactions), some that just happen - expect them, accept them, face them, overcome them! By doing so you will grow, and if you learn from them you will also grow in wisdom. With each passing year you not only get older,
but also closer to your ending. Will you make the choices today to make it a happy one? Will you compliment your ESOP account with 401K savings? Will you add another bucket?
Not everyone will; but I know that those that do will
definitely have more in the end to help provide their happy ending!!
To be financially smart, you
need to do the same things
financially smart people do!!

SAFETY WITH A SENSE OF HUMOR
The lot here in Shelbyville is so big we need help getting around. So we out and bought us a “Safety Scooter”. As you can see by the pictures we travel around the lot in style with safety as the number one concern. This baby comes complete with an LED headlight, strobe lights on each side and a horn. The driver (Alex Niedringhaus, Operations Manager extraordinaire) is
decked out in the latest safety gear which includes a safety vest with reflective tape and of course a cute Barbie Doll safety helmet with “safety crew” written on the side (in permanent marker) . If anyone hits this vehicle you can bet it was not by accident.
Paul R. Moore
Regional Safety Manager
First Stop Injuries Last year about 3 out of 4 of the driver’s injuries occurred at the driver’s first stop.
The most likely reason for this is the time sitting still driving to that first stop. I am
sure most of you as you get out of bed or just as you wake in the morning, the
first thing you do is stretch because your muscles may have tightened up from
not being used during your sleep. The same thing happens as you sit in your
truck driving to your first stop. We realize it is not ideal to get out and do a yoga
session to stretch out but here are a few quick stretches to get your body ready
to work. I have also attached the hyperlink that has great videos and ideas for
drivers to stay healthy.

Compliance Manager
This month’s spotlight is on Terminal # 30 Simpsonville SC, and the leadership team of
Doug Terry, Dana Thames, Mary Chandler, and Chip Womack.
We here at Quickway have what I refer to as our moral compass, the Core Values.
The Simpsonville terminal exemplifies these Core Values on a daily basis.
Core Value # 1 We will be safe, professional, and accountable in everything we do.
Core Value # 2 We will be the low-cost provider, run lean and efficient, while maintaining
the highest standards of safety, service and compliance.
Core Value # 3 We value honesty, integrity, and open communication for problem solving
and continuous improvement.
The Simpsonville group has achieved a 100% score on the Peoplenet scorecard for three
weeks running. The entire terminal is under the idle goal of 1.65%, they have reduced their
speed events, and they are a big part of Quickway’s near perfect on time delivery percentage.
Core Value # 4 We will be results-oriented, recognizing and rewarding employees based on
their performance.
Doug Terry was recently promoted to Terminal Manager after years of dedicated service.
Core Value # 5 We are built to last, for the benefit of our customers and shareholder
employees.
This is a team that is working to become “World Class” and the entire terminal is buying in.
It is an honor to work with such a fine group of folks.

A shout out to #030 Simpsonville
Two Promotions within the Capital City Leasing!
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Shane Deppermann to Director of Maintenance for Capital City Leasing at the Volunteer Express facility in Nashville TN. Shane joined our company in May of 2000 and has proven to be a strong, cost conscious manager with excellent leadership skills. On Monday April 4th 2016 Capital City Leasing will take over the maintenance operations for Volunteer Express and Shane will lead the efforts. Please join me in congratulating Shane on his promotion and in wishing him continued success here.
Also join me in congratulating William Pulley on his promo-tion to Shop Manager at our Murfreesboro, TN facility. Wil-liam began his career at Quickway in 2007 and has not only proven to be a great mechanic, but also a great leader and mentor to the young new hires. With his knowledge of our business and his attention to detail, I am confident that Wil-liam will do well in his new position.

Shaking it up in the Louisville shop. Donnie Witherell and team are making moves in the shop. In addition to making sure Clint's equipment is in good working condition, the team has increased the outside business. Not only commercial vehicles, but personal vehicles as well. We have a market within the terminal with 40 plus customers who will be able to get their vehicles serviced while on their runs.
Having Capital City Leasing in place, has helped the Louisville shop promote
service and maintenance to some of our trucking competitors without the conflict
of interest concerns. I know this part of the Louisville operation will be a great profit
center for Paladin. Keep the momentum going Louisville shop! I look forward to
help grow this part of the business and set some great standards for Paladin.

American Bakers Association
Quickway is an Allied Member of the American Bakers Association. Mark Adams, Vice President of Sales, and Ed Marcellino, Vice President attended their annual convention in Phoenix March 20-22. The convention is the premier gathering of the baking industry’s leaders where bakers including all of Quickway’s current and prospective customers as well as suppliers and partner organizations unite to hear from business and political speakers, learn about the latest trends, share ideas, develop positions on baking issues, and connect with industry colleagues during networking receptions and a golf tournament. Mark is on the Board of the Allied Trades Baking Industry and they held their annual ATBI Leadership Breakfast on the 21
st titled “Leadership Lessons from the Master:
Ronald Reagan.” Ken Adelman, Ambassador and former Arms Control Director for Reagan, shared his experience as advisor to Reagan during the historic Iceland superpower summits with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, and offered a front row seat at one of the President’s finest moments. He provided keen insights into the power of leadership. Ed also attended the ABA Logistics Committee Spring Meeting on the 23
rd at the
same venue as the Convention where they discussed important updates from the FMCSA and The American Trucking Association as well as other issues related to transportation in the baking industry. Overall, the convention was a success in terms of networking with current custom-ers and getting leads for new business. Some of this new business includes growth with some of our current customers including Alpha Baking Company. Mark and Ed are currently following up on several opportunities in many sectors of the baking industry that we hope will benefit individual terminals and the company as a whole in the near future.
Larry Holley and Family Visit Nashville and the
Corporate Office
Larry Holley was one of the first drivers hired in our Indianapolis terminal, joining the
Quickway team in March of 1998. Prior to joining Quickway, Larry worked for Kroger. Larry has worked as an Owner Operator and a company driver, hauling milk and
bread to the Kroger stores. Larry is always willing to help out and has traveled to new start up locations and helped train the
drivers as we opened new facilities.
During Spring Break, Larry brought his
family, wife Deanna, and two sons, Kyle and Joshua to visit Nashville. Larry and family visited the corporate office and got to meet
everyone he has interacted with over the years. It is always good for us here in the
office to get to meet the drivers! Larry’s son, Joshua, was celebrating his 17th birthday and was a special guest on St. Patrick’s Day
at the Nashville Predators hockey game. Joshua was presented with an autographed hockey stick and jersey by the team mascot, Gnash, and the team cheerleaders. Josh-ua is a 10th grader at Columbus North High School in Columbus IN. Joshua’s older
brother is a senior at Columbus Signature Academy Columbus IN and has earned a scholarship to attend Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) and
will start his education in the Fall of 2016.
Larry has been a great ambassador to the many stores on his routes over the years
and we have received many compliments on his service to the Kroger and Jay C stores
throughout the years. It
was a pleasure to have
him and his family, visit
the corporate office. We
love to have visitors to the
new office! If you plan to
be in the Nashville area,
please let us know!

VP Safe Operations
Happy April Shareholders
I’d like to make you aware of two major personnel changes we’ve made in Nashville recently. Changes that will continue to strengthen the ESOP for all of us:
1) You may have noticed a new face wondering the halls at the corporate office.
Welcome goes out to Randy Collignon. He is our new Treasurer. He joined our firm in January, and has hit the ground running full speed ahead. Randy’s 25-year background at one of Tennes-see’s largest employers, Ingram, equips him with the credentials necessary to succeed in his new role. Some of our shareholders may have already spoken with Randy, as one of his key roles re-lates to administration of the ESOP and 401k plans. He also will help to strengthen the firm in the areas of banking, forecasting, insurance, accounts payable, and many other roles. Randy is a family man, whose roots started in Kentucky. Go Wildcats! You’ll truly appreciate his approach to problem solving. But watch out. He is a black belt. LOL. I expect him to do quite well in his role here at Paladin.
2) We have a promotion to announce. Please congratulate Jeff Foreman on his promotion to VP of IT.
I knew when I first began speaking with Jeff about relocating to Nashville back in 2014 from his role at Shelbyville, he was going to be a tremendous asset to our ESOP. And sure enough, it was immediately met with rave reviews! We’ve continually asked him to play different roles in the firm, many under very difficult circumstances, and he keeps answering the bell with flying colors. Scott Heard was absolutely spot on in his recommendation of Jeff joining the corporate staff.
After gaining full knowledge of systems at Quickway in his previous role as IT Manager, he then absorbed the responsibil-ity of leading Volunteer Express with regards to their systems. And now he’s interacting with each of the Paladin entities in terms of systems. It only seemed natural and deserving of his promotion to VP of IT.
I’m very excited at the role both of these fine individuals will play in building shareholder value for all of us.
Blessings to All,
Chris Tate, CFO Paladin Capital Inc.
