The winner of the drawing, Donald Hall received $518.50. Respectfully submitted, Bob Zitney, Secretary _____________________________________________________________________ Remember When? 30 years ago August 1982 By Ellen Solch The regular monthly meeting was packed with business discussions, including the flea market at Peffley Ford and the insurance and license issues with the fire truck. New business included a report on those who attended the national meet, with the Prenger's, Kaufmann's, Rhoades', Solchs' and Van Brederode's attending at Green Bay, Wisconsin. Over 6500 miles was driven in 4 Model A's with no serious problems. Mal Colby also reported on his overseas trip. Reminders were given about the Chicken Fry which was to be held by the Kaufmann's. The highlight of the evening was the auction, and the grand total profits was $75.75, won by Ruth Johnson. TECH TIP: by Ken Nelson of the Shade Tree As Head Lights- Whatever candle power bulbs youre running, a good set of reflectors will make a big difference in the reflection. An easy way to adjust the headlight beams to use a four foot carpenter level to set 0 degrees left/right and a degree level to set 2 degrees down. (Were thankful for Model A parts and for tips that tell us how to use them!) _____________________________________________________________________________ Pictures from the Auction

Claras Club. In September Claras Club will be showing and sharing needlework items. It can be something you made or something someone made for you, even something belonging to someone else (if theyll trust you to bring it). For convenience we suggested something small, such as a wall hanging or small quilt or cross-stitch or needlework item. Anything you want to share with us, and are willing to tote in, well be happy to see it. The subject is definitely not limited and can be wearable or practical - not just decorative. Some of members are always busy making and creating, and the rest of us might get inspired. So search those closets and drawers and find something you think wed like to see. We like most anything and its always an opportunity to get to know each other better. You know, Henry was as creative as anyone, and its just another way to carry on the Ford tradition. For October, the suggestion box is open so please let us know what our subject for October will be. Suggestions so far have been: Sharing favorite recipes and compiling them into a new cook book for our members; Books I have read and loved; What is this? Scrap booking; Recent era fashion purchases; How to change a Model A tire in under five minutes - please identify yourself whoever put that in the suggestion box. - We will be having you demonstrate. Its all for fun and fun for all. See you in September. Submitted by, Sandy Schiml ******************************************************************************************************************* In these hot, dry summer months we think of cooling off and what better way than swimming. Here we show Mens swim fashions from the Model A era. Mens bathing suits were knitted of wool worsted, jersey worsted and elas- tic rib cotton. Cotton colors were navy, red, black, white and oxford gray. Suits could be plain, striped, or with geometric designs. Two piece suits had separate belts. One piece suits often had a belt knitted into the material.

Congratulations to Bob Grant: Results are in from the MARC and MAFCA National Meets. Bob Grant

received a Henry Ford Award for his 1931 Model A Ford Deluxe Roadster and First Place in the MAFCA Restored Class. There was a major error in the MARC Fine-Point Judging Sheets that Bob discovered and notified the Chief Judge. On further examination, eleven cars had similar errors. Several categories in Area 12 Interior Trim were not judged or the recorder failed to record the scores. Letters were sent out to all car owners affected and Bob received his Henry in the mail. Bob received a score of 491 at MAFCA and figured that there had to be some kind of mistake with the MARC score. His score at MARC was announced at the awards ceremony as 450 then finally adjusted to 481. Bob's car will be on the cover of the next MARC Model A News.
