It’s An Honor To Serve You, “Boss”By Steve Burbridge, Comfort Expert/Owner

Time flies when you are having fun! Five years ago, Cecil and Ipurchased Anthony Plumbing, Heating & Cooling with the goal oftransforming a good company into a great company. We asked and you gave us input into what makes a great company

and, of course, it starts with the people. You told us that you wantedthe same technician for each service and they had to be techniciansyou can trust. And so we continued to use our nationally registeredslogan, “Technicians You Can Trust With Your House Keys!”®

Local, prompt, and courteous phone answering was another area of importanceto you. In fact, as I look back, we implemented everything you told us you expected ina great company. However, there are times we get humbled and that is a good thingbecause we have a culture of quality and continuous improvement where there is nofinish line. In essence, we can always do better and we work hard at this every day.Your feedback serves to hone our operation. Internally, we use the lofty term “worldclass” to describe the level of service we want to provide. The highlight of my work day is reading the postage-paid comment cards that

you are kind enough to complete. Occasionally, you point out areas where wecould improve. We thank you for this as we strive to continually improve the quality of our service. We consider our customers “the boss.” You have hired us and we thank you for

trusting us to serve you. We appreciate your willingness to help us get better at whatwe do. It’s been a wonderful five years, and with your continued support, we willbe honored to serve you for many more years to come.

TESTIMONIAL“Anthony has been terrific and has provided excellent, timely, honest service.Thank you for being a customer-oriented business. We have referred three ofour friends. We look forward to a great 2012 knowing that if we have heating or cooling problems, Anthony will be there.”

Our Customers Give Back

On September 11, 2011, we launched our first-annual Disabled American Veterans(DAV) Campaign on Patriot Day. For 8weeks, a portion of every heating tune-up,and a portion of every new heating and airconditioning system was donated to the DAV.“

We were inspired to do something to helpour country’s veterans. I’m sure we can allbe thankful for the people throughout themany years in the history of this country whohave made incredible sacrifices in defending

America,” said Steve Burbridge, Owner. On November 11, Veterans Day, we

hosted many veterans for breakfast. We were also joined by Michael Dreiling fromHays, KS, DAV Dept. Commander and David Brater from Parsons, KS, DAV AdjunctTreasurer. We were very proud to raise$13,690. We THANK YOU, our customers, and CFM (Local York Distributor) for makingthis possible. Without your loyal patronage,we would not be able to give back to our honored heroes. We will announce the campaign again later this year and we aim todonate even more!

Zoning, as it relates to heating and cooling, means being able to customize your comfort. It’s a simple, economical way to gain betterair flow to problem areas without adding anadditional heating and cooling system.Using automatic dampers, a zoning systemallows you to control the temperature independently in separate areas of yourhome or office. The brain of the system is anelectronic monitor which activates thedampers as ordered by the individualthermostats in the areas served.Amy and Joe Reardon of Kansas City, KS

recently discovered zoning after they explainedtheir problem to us.“We were having problems keeping our

downstairs warm during the winter”, Amyexplained. “There was a full 10 degree

difference between our upstairs living roomand our basement rec room. Our kids wouldn’tplay down there”, she added. After a thorough assessment of their needs,

the Anthony Comfort Advisor explained thebenefits of adding a zoning system and ourexpert installation team went to work.“We have had the zoning system for

several weeks now and the change has beenlike night and day. Heating is balancedthroughout the house and we are able to consistentlycontrol thetemperatureon both levelsof our home.”Reardon said.

TESTIMONIAL“I was very impressed with your technician. I was not at home and he was morethan happy to take the extra 10 minutes to discuss my alternatives and provideguidance over the phone. When I arrived home I found a very clean/professionallyinstalled unit. In the two instances that I've done business with Anthony, youhave certainly exceeded my expectations.”

Co-Worker SpotlightTHESE ARE FARMING DAYS

Gary King, Senior Anthony heating and cooling technician, has been in the industry forover 15 years. After receiving a collegedegree, Gary worked in the restaurant business for a while but just didn’t seem fulfilled. He sought help and took a personality profile test. The results were in:Gary should be a farmer or a helicopter pilot.“I didn’t think I should move my family at

my age to take flying lessons,” Gary said. “Iwanted to work with my hands, as the testresults indicated I should, so I went to HVACtechnical school. Steve Burbridge recruitedme right out of technical school in 1996.Being in the heating and cooling businessdoes have some correlations to farming. When the hot weather hits, I call it farmingdays. It’s harvest time: 12-hour days, makingair conditioners work,” Gary added.“I really love helping people and the

technical challenges of the job,” Gary said.“Figuring out the problem usually takeslonger than fixing it. But that’s what we train for, that’s what we’re there to do, sometimes we use diagnostic thinking longerthan we use our tools.”On his days off, Gary is involved with his

church and spends time with his wife and 4kids ranging in age from 18-23.

“I believe in our motto: ’Technicians YouCan Trust With Your House Keys!’® I’m proudto say we really do have technicians peoplecan trust. It’s a huge privilege to have ahomeowner allow us not only into theirhome, but be there with his most valuablepossessions: his wife and kids,” Said Gary. All of our technicians have their name and

photo on their truck, so please wave at Garyif you see him!

TESTIMONIAL“It was Gary’s last stop of the night. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and helped put my mind at ease on the coldest night of the year with two little ones at home and a pregnant wife that needed the heater to work! A BIGthanks to Gary and Anthony PHC.”

Dry Basement InsuranceBy Kent Gurske, Plumbing Department Leader

TIPSCheck your sump pump regularly for proper function. (Or we’ll do this for you during yourPlumbing A.S.A.P. tune-up)1. Remove cover and slowly pour water into the sump pit.2. Watch for the float (if visible) to rise and trigger the pump.3. Once pump is engaged, the water level will quickly lower, and

the float will shut off the pump. This is what’s called a “normal sump cycle.”

Did you know that morehomes are damaged byflooding than by fire? Ifflooding occurs when youare away, it can be hours ordays before the damage is discovered. Your sump pump

will never fail until you need it most. Manytimes it’s due to a power outage during a thunderstorm. A battery backup pump is an inexpensive insurance policy against mold and damage to drywall, carpet, and personal belongings associated with a flooded basement. A battery backup pump saves the day

when your regular pump:• Fails due to a power outage• Has unexpected pump failure

• Has a float switch failure• Is unable to keep up with incoming waterA backup pump will switch automatically

to battery when power fails or your mainpump fails. It can also pump along with yourmain pump when there is more water thanthe main pump can handle. A backup pumpcan typically handle 1,000 to 2,200

gallons per hour. It also soundsan alarm when service is called for. It’s the best insurance for your basementand belongings!

Tired of Waiting for Hot Water?Do you have an exercise routine you do

while waiting for your shower water to gethot? The average American home wastes 20 gallons of water per day waiting for hot water.Because your water heater is likely located

in the basement, you are waiting too long forthe hot water to travel through your home tothe bathroom faucet. For instant heat and gratification, we can install a hot water circulation system. This system involves asmall circulating pump placed at the base ofyour water heater. Then we make a connectionat the furthest point from the water heaterand install a return pipe back to the pump.

This pump slowly, continuously circulates hotwater throughout your home and back to thewater heater. This means when you turn on ahot water faucet anywhere in your home, youwill have instant hot water.

Anthony Earns Super Service Award for 5 Years!

TESTIMONIAL“Your technicians were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They laid tarps everywhere theywalked to protect my flooring and were very tidy in general. I give my HIGHEST recommendationto Anthony and their professional, honest installers.”

– Nicolle Christensen, Overland Park, Angie’s List Member

See The (UV) Light!A germicidal lamp uses an ultraviolet (UV)

bulb to kill germs and harmful contaminantstrapped in your home. Ultraviolet light is nature’sway of controlling airborne microorganismsoutdoors. Moss only grows on the north sideof a tree because the UV light from the sundoes not reach there.Germicidal lamps are widely used in

hospitals, restaurants, nursing homes, and childcare facilities because they kill germs. In a home, properly installed inside your heating and coolingsystem, they will not only kill germs like the

common cold, viruses, and influenza, but willalso keep mold and mildew (which most peopleare allergic to) from growing in your ductwork. And when an ultraviolet light is shining on theindoor coil of an air conditioning system, it keepsit sparkling clean, just like new, which meansbetter efficiency and lower electric bills.Put a germ barrier

mask on your heatingand cooling system—call us to install a germicidal lamp today!

We have been awarded the prestigious2011 Angie’s List Super Service Award, anhonor bestowed annually on approximately 5 percent of all the businesses rated by Angie’s List, the nation’s leading provider ofconsumer reviews.

As anticipated; since earlyJanuary 2012, the price of thecurrent standard R22 Freon(which is the coolant in all olderair conditioners) has risen asmuch as 400%, and we don’tknow how high it might go.The EPA controls the

production of R22. They set limits on how much can be produced every year. They have mapped a complete phase-out ofR22 refrigerant (by 2020) because it depletesour ozone layer. Ultimately, this means theprice of what’s left will continue to rise.

Our goal is to provide you with the best possible productsand services at the best possible value. We are currently installing for our customers onlyair conditioning systems whichuse R410A refrigerant, therequired replacement that does not harm the ozone. We

recommend to our customers who have old, inefficient R22 units, to consider replacement sooner than later to avoid costlyrepairs and the ever rising cost of the oldR22 Freon.
