A New Disaster Prevention Product

High-Luminance Glow-In-The-Dark Labeling Tapes

K-Sun (Photoluminescent) Glow-in-the-Dark Tape is a disaster prevention product used to supplement marking items that may be needed during a power failure. This includes flash lights, emergency evacuation routes, tools, back up power generators, fire extinguishers… all items needed in a power failure situation.

Today, facilities and vehicles are increasing in size and their diversity. Guidance for emergency evacuations is therefore a current major need, in preparation for power failures. This new light-storing tape indicates evacuation routes and emergency information, thus saving lives.

Performance. High initial luminance that diminishes slowly over time. Excellent afterglow for four to five hours after the light source is removed.

Performance Test: After the pretreatment of α-FLASH 009® according to the JIS Z 9107 7.1.c requirements for safety signboards, a phosphorescent luminance test, as specified in paragraph 7.11 of the same, was conducted and confirmed that the afterglow luminance of the α-FLASH 009® satisfied the required standards.

Minutes 0min 1min 2min 3min 4min 5min 6min 8min 10min 20min 30min 60min 90minα-FLASH009 (mcd/m²) 9319 1639 928 652 501 408 342 262 213 110 74 38 20Competitor(mcd/m²) 3106 165 86 57 42 35 30 24 20 12 9 6 5

Egress path marking systems may include various informational labels such as directional arrows or symbols and signs to provide additional guidance to occupants. Place labels at low level to indicate location of windows, doors, fire extinguishers, stairwells. Label doors (Exit, Emergency Exit and Non-Exit), add Strategic Location Maps or Diagrams or walls, Fire Fighting (Equipment, Valves, Hoses with directional sign), Emergency First Aid equipment and all Electrical, Chemical and Physical Hazards. Don’t forget to label Critical shutdown procedures, contact names and phone numbers on switches and valves. Don’t forget to add emergency information in other languages for your employees, workers and customers.

Luminance of the Highest Level• High initial luminance that deteriorates comparatively slowly over time. • Excellent lasting performance with an afterglow lasting four to five hours

after the light source is removed.

Safe• High flame resistance withstands temperatures up to 215ºC (419ºF)• Alleviates secondary disaster risks with no toxic gas - passed ASTM

Standard SMP-800C for toxic gas• Anti Slip surface ASTM D 2047 for slip resistance test• No electricity is required, so no electric charge is involved

Excellent Performance• α-FLASH 009® consists of a chemically stable oxide and repeats the absorp-

tion and emission of light for a long time. • A tape-shaped product with high water-absorbing performance is maintained. • The light-storing material withstands ultraviolet rays and has excellent

weatherproof performance making it suitable for long-term outdoor applications as well in temperature range, limit of 50ºC (120ºF).

• Expected exterior life is 3 years. Because weather conditions vary in out-door applications, inspection of the labels should be frequent and labels should be replaced as necessary.

Environmentally Friendly• Chloride Free PET Film• Does not include any radioactive substances• Passed strict combustion tests ASTM standards - ASTME 162 for surface

flammability test• Passed ASTM E 662 (for smoke density test)

With the new K-Sun Photoluminescent tapes,

you can keep your employees and clients safer with well marked

exits and safety information that will

remain visible after disaster strikes.
