Do you know that millions of families still live in the dark? MyShelter Foundation aims to brighten up one million homes in the Philippines and around the world by the end 2012. And, with your help, four million homes on four continents by the end of 2013.According to statistics from the National Electrification Commission in 2009, three mil-lion households still remain powerless outside Metro Manila.

Liter Light

An estimated 79 percent of the people in the Third World, the 50 poorest nations have no access to electricity, despite decades of international development work. The total number of individuals without electric power is put at about 1.5 billion, or a quarter of the world’s population, concentrated mostly in Africa and southern Asia.

Create awareness to help show the problem at hand and to use current methods and to develop new ones to create energy and jobs for those located in the third world countries. MyShelter envisions spreading the gift of light to underprivileged communities globally giving an economically- and ecologically-sustainable source of light that will provide an immediate solution to our fellowmen’s problems. Incorporating this interactive piece in their website.

solutionThe problem is most acute in sub-Saharan Africa, with several entire nations there effectively non electrified. In 11 countries, all in Africa, more than 90 percent of people go without electricity. In six of these -- Burundi, Chad, Central African Republic, Liberia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone -- 3 to 5 percent of people can readily obtain electric power.

Recycling thousands of water bottles to create the Liter light not only recycles plastic bottles but removes large amount of trash of the streets and out of homes.

The Liter Light can provide 55 watts of clean reusable light energy without any cost to operate and can last up to 10 years

The Liter Light costs nothing to use and creates jobs for those to continue to provide for their community and family’s
