TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES
Science day commemorated with National
Conference “NCARTS-14” at GHRCE,
Nagpur
The two days interdisciplinary Second National
Conference on Advanced Research Trends in
Sciences (NCARTS-14) was organized on National
Science day i.e 28th February by the First Year
Engineering Department of GHRCE. The
conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Dr.
Nitin Labhsetwar Scientist-F, Environmental
Materials Division, NEERI, Nagpur. He in his
keynote reiterated that there is immense potential in
Research & Development in India as we have
maximum intake of students in the world in the field
of Science & Engineering. He said that 90%
conventional technology fails in the first six months
after implementation and hence we are for a lookout
for sustainable technology. Dr. Labhshetwar
emphasized that nanotechnology is the buzz word
today and is the only solution for most of the
environmental problems. This technology is self
sustainable and can be customized to be user
friendly, as the main hurdle after invention lies in
making people use the technology. He encouraged
researchers to take up interdisciplinary and
collaborative research which has practical relevance.
He further added that attempt is most important and
one should have a sound knowledge of fundaments
of the subject.
Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director GHRCE, in her address
urged the researchers to align their research with the
institute’s mission and create a win-win situation.
She said that interdisciplinary research culminating
in development of technology is the need of the
hour. Dr.Nagarnaik and Dr.A.Y.Deshmukh, Deputy
Directors also guided the participants with their
encouraging words. Dr. B P Butey, Convener
unfurled the vision of the conference during her
speech. Prof. G M Randhawa and Prof. B S Patankar
conducted the proceedings of the conference.
Two plenary talks on emerging areas viz.
“Quantum cutting Phosphors for Photo cell” and
“Fuzzy applications” by Dr. Charusheela Joshi,
Professor, RKNCOE and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar,

Guest lecturers organized on
“Multichannel Modulation techniques &
it’s Applications” by Electronics
Engineering Department, At GHRCE.
Electronics Engineering Department of G.H.
Raisoni College of Engineering has organized a
guest lecture on “Multichannel Modulation
techniques & it’s Applications” on dated 10th
February 2014 by Dr.M.S.Sutaone. Dr Sutaone is
currently working as Professor in College of
Engineering Pune.
He was welcomed by head of the department
Dr.S.S.Dorle. He started lecture with the basics of
communication techniques and gradually he
explained very effective manner all the multichannel
modulation techniques. He explained prominently
the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing
(OFDM) which is a multi-carrier modulation
technique and is very much popular in new wireless
networks of IEEE standard, digital television, audio
broadcasting and 4G mobile communications. The
main benefit of OFDM over single-carrier schemes
is its ability to cope with severe channel conditions
without complex equalization filters. It has
improved the quality of long-distance
communication by eliminating InterSymbol
Interference (ISI) and improving Signal-to-Noise
ratio (SNR). He also explained drawbacks of OFDM
and its sensitivity to phase noise and frequency
offset. Student enthusiastically participated in
discussion with the expert and he clarified all the
queries of the students.
Total 150 students of U.G. and P.G. and faculty
members were present in the lecture and benefited a
lot by very informative & interesting session.
Guest lecture on Fuzzy Application and
practical Approach by Dr. Sanjiv Kumar
A guest lecture of Dr.Sanjiv Kumar was arranged

having an experience of 18 years. He has organized
05 conferences and 2 workshops, 30 Conferences
attended and Presented research work in India and
abroad. He give expert knowledge about Fuzzy
Logic and Fuzzy Modeling.
The lecture was organized for the students
participants and the M.Tech Scholars of all the
departments. During his lecture, he covered the
basics of Fuzzy Logic, its history. Then some
fundamentals were taught to the students about the
Fuzzy Logic. Sir has also told the importance of
Fuzzy Logic in our day to day life. Lastly he told
some real life examples which could be
implemented in day to day life. One example given
by him was the Insurance Policy System, where the
payment of the insurance policy will be based on the
Fuzzy Logic. He already design one such model for
the Insurance Policy System and shown some papers
presented by him to the students.
