do not go to work - You may have
Swine Flu!Of course if you have a PHI or REME system you
probably will never wake up looking like this.
A Newsletter For Our Wholesalers, Dealers and Representatives Fall 2009
2009 H1N1 (referred to as “swine flu” early on) is a new influenza virus caus-
ing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United
States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person world-
wide. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled
that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway. Spread of 2009 H1N1
virus is thought to occur in the same way that seasonal flu spreads. Flu
viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or
sneezing by people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected
by touching something – such as a surface or object – with flu viruses on it
and then touching their mouth or nose.

IRS in Austin installs 80 Units,Plans to Study Employee Sick TimeThe IRS Center in downtown Austin, TX installed 80 units in
their entire facility. They were concerned about improving
employee morale and reducing sick time and installing
Guardian Air units in their facility to drastically improve IAQ
seemed like the perfect solution. They plan on examining
employee sick time in the year before installation and the
year after to determine how much the improvement in indoor
air quality helped. Before those results are completed, we
can already say the employees really appreciate the fresh
feeling to the air.
Orland Park, ChicagoWe had a chance to check back
in with Orland Park schools in
Chicago this week. Three years
later they’re still using Guardian
Air products and were very ex-
cited to hear that they were al-
ready doing everything to protect
their district from the H1N Flu.
Guardian Air finds happy
patrons at local smoking barsRGF recently completed two new installations in Texas at
smoking bars; both the “Bitter End” in San Antonio, TX and
“Shooters” in Cedar Park, TX. Both of these applications
were heavy on cigarette odors and it was the staff that ulti-
mately suffered. Our Representative in Texas, Todd Mont-
gomery, recommended Guardian Air units to try and combat
the constant smoke odors and VOC introduced to the space.
The units were installed at 10am and Todd received a text
that night at 4am from one of the bartenders that just simply
read “YEAH!”. After working for 14 years, the bartender said
it was the first night ever he had come home without smelling
like smoke.
Gold’s Gym Installs
Guardian Air and REMEGold’s Gym in Orlando, FL has recently began a rollout of
Guardian Air and REME units to all 8 locations around the
city. The first building with 12 units was installed and results
have been excellent. The management staff at Gold’s cur-
rently working with RGF to feature the Guardian Air in ad-
vertisements and posters all over every location as the
rollout is progressing.

Dr. Marsden with Kansas State University has advised us that
this is the first in a battery of tests being conducted by his labo-
ratory at KSU. The initial tests were performed on inoculated
stainless steel surfaces and showed an inactivation rate of
99+% for the H1N1 virus. He is anticipating completion of this
written report by no later than next week. This is the first step in
a larger research project being conducted by Kansas State Uni-
versity, whereby upon completion, we anticipate submitting the
final report to the FDA for product claim authorization and clear-
ance.
Meanwhile, RGF would like to clarify a few points to help all of
us in presenting truthful marketing and advertising claims on
this issue. RGF has always been adamant about not making
any sort of medical claims or misleading statements in our mar-
keting or advertising.
More recently, with the development of H1N1 Virus, the FDA
has issued a warning against companies marketing H1N1 Flu
Virus claims, which recently came to our attention. The FDA pro-
hibits companies who have not obtained prior authorization,
from promoting or marketing products that claim to diagnose,
mitigate, prevent, treat, or cure the H1N1 virus. They have gone
so far as checking company websites for language eluding to
this or similar language in conjunction with destroying the H1N1,
and has sent 50 warning letters to date. They also have the
power to refer violations to the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investi-
gations. The following companies are currently listed on the FDA
website for illegally marketing products with objectionable
claims regarding H1N1 Virus: AUV Eliminator, AirFree, AllerAir,
American Ultraviolet, Breathe More Easy, Cleanaer, Eliminator,
FlexAir PAPR, Sanuvox, UV Aire, Verilux.
In order to be proactive, (as we do not want to hear from theFDA or be added to their list,) we are requesting that should you
develop any ads on your own that refer to H1N1, please run it
by Sharon Rinehimer our in-house corporate attorney.

Infectious Diseases
Effect on Indoor Air
QualityBy Dr. James Marsden, Ronald G. Fink
and Walter Ellis
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is rapidly becoming a buzz word for
the HVAC contractor. Most people associate indoor air qual-
ity with air filtration, which is designed to remove airborne
particles. The problem is that standard air filters have little or
no effect on microbials such as viruses and bacterial, or
molds, VOC, odors and other health-related air contami-
nants.
IAQ got its start with the media rash of mold stories of the
1980s. Odor control was the buzz word of the 1990s, and
with the fears of SARS, Bird Flu, Norwalk, MRSA and H1N1
(Swine Flu), the 2000s will be the decades of infectious dis-
eases and control of bacteria and viruses.
Major hotel chains, hospitals, cruise lines, schools/colleges,
restaurant chains, property managers and major corpora-
tions are developing infectious diseases contingency plans.
It began with the Norwalk Virus on cruise ships and MRSA
in hospitals. The SARS Virus in China, and now the widely
feared H1N1 (Swine Flu). The concern is employee safety,
negative publicity, and of course, legal liability.
Most infectious disease contingency plans consist of the
multiple interventions concept, which consists of the utiliza-
tion of multiple disinfection technologies and procedures.
The cruise line industry had a serious problem with the Nor-
walk Virus a few years ago. Thousands of people were get-
ting infected. Their plan included:
• Rapid identification and isolation of the sick.
• Continuous disinfecting of handrails, door knobs and
banisters.
• Continuous UV disinfection of indoor air via the HVAC
ducts.
It was later discovered that standard HVAC UV systems
were not working as the dwell or contact time was not nearly
long enough. These were replaced with an Advanced Oxida-
tion technology. The problem with any HVAC UV air disin-
fection system is that the contaminated air has to travel a
long distance before the bacteria or viruses may or may not
be killed in the UV kill zone of the HVAC unit. Let’s say you
have a virus and you sneeze, anyone within six feet of you
will have been potentially exposed. The fact that the airborne
virus might or might not be killed in the UV air disinfection
system later is of no consequence. You have already been
exposed. This concept was discovered by Sandia National
Labs while working with RGF Environmental Group on a
homeland security project for a potential terrorist bio attack
on an airliner. In theory, a terrorist could aspirate a virus eas-
ily. No one would know until the next day after they have
traveled and spread the virus. This is how worldwide pan-
demics can get started.
The solution was to kill the virus at the source before it
reaches another person. The problem was how do you do
that? RGF Environmental Group has been working with Ad-
vanced Oxidation technology since the mid-1980s. RGF’s
Photohydroionization or PHI technology looked promising as
having the ability to kill an airborne virus within three feet.
The next problem was how do you validate the results? The
validation had to be a double-blind in a bio test chamber and
had to be repeatable. Now, how do you duplicate a sneeze?
No two people sneeze alike or not even the same person
could duplicate his or her own sneeze. A high-tech sneeze
machine was needed. Of course, there was no such thing,
so RGF developed one. When you sneeze, you evacuate
one lung of air volume. You expel about one gram of fluid at
about 100 miles per hour. RGF invented and built the world’s
first sneeze machine with controls for volume, fluid and
speed. Now it was possible to duplicate a sneeze allowing a
repeatable method of testing the effectiveness of RGF’s
Advanced Oxidation technologies.
A PHI Cell creates an airborne plasma basically consisting of
friendly oxidizers. Friendly being those found in nature that
return to oxygen and water after they oxidize, such as hy-
droperoxides. The process is like misting the air with an at-
omized or very fine mist of hydrogen peroxide. A series of
tests were conducted by Kansas State University, who also
works closely with Sandia National Labs. The first results
were outstanding with a kill rate of 78% of a sneeze at three
feet. A more advanced cell was later developed by RGF,
REME or Reflective Electro-Magnetic Energy, that
ionized the Advanced Oxidation plasma
making it far more effective on
a broader scope of contam-
inates. REME sneeze re-
sults showed 88%
reductions.
During the SARS scare a few
years ago, the Chinese Govern-
ment installed PHI™ Advanced
Oxidation Cells in city buses and
subways after determining it killed
the deadly SARS virus. A Chinese
manufacturer licensed PHI™
Technology for use on China’s buses and subways.
It is a normal reaction to question the long-term safety of any
product that is effective and uses new or “breakthrough”

technology. This type of question has become common as
our litigious society has taught us to question things that sig-
nificantly outperform existing methods or products.
The breakthrough in the RGF Advanced Oxidation technolo-
gies is a group of oxidants known as Hydroperoxides. Hy-
droperoxides have been a common part of our environment
for over 3.5 billion years. Hydroperoxides are created in our
atmosphere whenever three components are present: oxy-
gen molecules, water vapor and energy (electro magnetic).
REME+™ also has the ability to super charge these hy-
droperoxides or ionize them into Ionized-Hydro-
Peroxides™.
Ionized-Hydro-Peroxides™ are very effective at destroying
harmful microbials in the air and on surfaces. As oxidants,
they do this by either destroying the microbe through a
process known as cell lysing or by changing its molecular
structure and rendering it harmless (which is typically the
case in VOC’s and odors). The amount of hydroperoxides
required to accomplish this task in a conditioned space is
below the level that is constantly in our outside air. The Ad-
vanced Oxidation technology has brought the oxidants found
in the outside air into the indoor conditioned air. One of the
best features of Ionized-Hydro-Peroxides™ is that as they
settle out of the air, they disinfect surfaces. This was vali-
dated in a Kansas State University Bio Chamber on stainless
steel surfaces, resulting in a 99+% kill on numerous viruses
and bacteria.
There is no known case of hydroperoxides ever creating a
health risk. Considering we have been exposed to hydroper-
oxides in nature since the day man stepped on the planet, it
is a reasonable assumption that hydroperoxides do not con-
stitute a health risk. Over the past 25 years, RGF has more
than one million Advanced Oxidation products have been
successfully used worldwide without a safety problem.

The Deslimer™HVAC Drain Service Tool eliminates risks and reduces costs associated with blocked condensate drains.
RGF Environmental Group. Inc. has introduced another first-of-its-kind product for the HVAC industry. In
consultation with a local HVAC contractor, RGF has developed the Deslimer™HVAC Drain Service Tool. The
Deslimer™, a dual action condensate drain pump, eliminates endlessly sucking on blocked drains with shop
vacuums and the cost associated with motor burn outs, nitrogen bottles and refills. Designed to break the
bond of the microbial build-up, the Deslimer™ quickly and easily clears blocked condensate drains in min-
utes.
Each year blocked condensate drains are responsible for thousands of dollars in damage due to overflow
of condensate water onto surrounding dry wall, fittings and fixtures. The options until now have been
using a commercial shop vac to suck microbial build up from the drain line or blast the line with nitro-
gen. Both methods take up to 20 minutes to remove a blockage and require expensive tools along
with consumables replacement. The Deslimer™ is small enough to carry in a tool kit, breaks microbial
blockage with dual action ‘push and pull’ motion, requires no electrical connection or gas replacement,
and reduces a blocked drain repair from 20 minutes to 5 minutes.
The Deslimer™ is constructed of durable aluminum with minimal moving parts. Limited lifetime war-
ranty offered along with 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Available through HVAC wholesale outlets
stocking RGF products, the Deslimer™ is an essential tool for all serious HVAC service technicians. Reduce liability, time
and money with one simple inexpensive tool – See the Deslimer in action at
