Our next show will be the “enchanted” version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, running August 26 – 28 here at the State Theatre. We invite young-at-heart audience members to meet the cast in character after the show—dressing up in one’s best prince or princess attire is optional but encouraged! Visit the State Theatre Box Office this weekend and mention the “2/$22 special” in order to purchase your Cinderella tickets at just $10 each.

Looking ahead to next season, we are pleased to begin our subscription sales this weekend! Subscriptions not only save you $10-$25 in ticket costs for the season—they also help you avoid all box office fees, walk into the theatre with tickets in hand, and allow for the exchange of tickets (deadlines apply). Subscription tickets will be acknowleded by email within three business days and mailed to you by November 1st. Please visit us online (www.runningtoplaces.org) to purchase or fill out a contact card and check the "please contact me about subcriptions" box. Best, Gail, Joey, & Todd !

Elliot is a recent graduate of Dryden High School and is heading off to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the fall to study Jazz. EMILY BEHRMANN-FOWLER (Miss Dorothy Brown): is a senior at IHS,and is thrilled to be in her sixth R2P production. She previously attended Interlochen Arts Camp for voice and was thrilled to have participated in the 2011 National Women’s Honor Choir. She thanks her voice teacher, Janet Galvan, her parents for their ongoing support, the man at the DMV for passing her on her road test, and, of course, the dedicated R2P team! GRACE BOBERTZ (Mama/Ensemble) couldn’t be more excited to be in another Running to Places production! A soon-to-be sophomore in high school, she was most recently seen in R2P’s Anything Goes earlier this season. She would like to thank Joey, Gail, Todd, Tori, and the rest of the crew for doing everything they did to make this show possible, and also for being such incredibly fabulous people in general. She hopes you “thoroughly” enjoy seeing the show as much as she did being a part of it! HALEY EVANOSKI (Ethel, Modern): Haley is very excited to be in another season of running to places. She has previously been seen in many other running to places productions the most recent being Music Man and Guys and Dolls. She has also been seen in Ithaca High School musicals. She would like to thank the production staff for being amazing. Enjoy the show. JAMES PALMER is excited, yet again, for another R2P show. Though less excitement was involved in his appearance as yet another creepy guy. In some of the shows earlier in the season he played "The Awkward British Guy" and "The Fatherly Friar", however the company has decided that he must once again be "The Creeper". He apologizes to your eyes and souls, but tells you not to worry; it is a small one scene part. Running to Places Theatre Company is not responsible for any discomforts or emotional scarring due to the risque nature of any of its scenes and/or performances. (But really, James has been creepier parts, and noone like passed out or anything. He doesn't think you'll suffer too much. He's just trying to make his bio interesting and unique. It's like thirty seconds of creepy, he thinks you can handle it. Except for maybe Wynter's mom, he doesn't know how she'll react.) James thanks you for supporting R2P and hopes you'll enjoy the show! MARCEL MERWIN (Jimmy) is a recent graduate of Dryden High School and will be attending Rice University in the fall. He has been part of R2P since the very beginning and, sadly, this is his very last show with them. He has been in Charlie Brown (Linus), FAME! (Goody King), and 10 other

Page 10: A NOTE FROM THE R2P LEADERSHIP TEAM

6

shows with R2P. He has also performed with Shakespeare in the Basement, The Homecoming Players, and his school shows. Thanks to Joey, Gail, Todd, Ross, and everyone else with R2P for making the last four years the greatest. MICHELLE ROY (Costume Design) is thrilled to be back working for R2P on another terrific production. Michelle is a recent graduate from Ithaca College's Theatrical Design program and is currently working her second season at the Hangar Theatre as the Assistant Costume Shop Manager. Previous design credits include Running to Places' Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, How I Learned to Drive at Ithaca College, Ruthless: The Musical for KOTA Productions, and she is very excited to be working on the upcoming R2P production of Cinderella in August. In the Fall Michelle will be fulfilling the position of Wardrobe Supervisor for the John W. Engeman Theatre in Northport, Long Island and hopes to return to beautiful Ithaca as much as possible. SALMA ARIF (Muzzy VanHossmere): Salma is extremely excited to be making her R2P Debut as Muzzy. She has previously been seen throughout her school performances as Dolly in Annie Get Your Gun, Margie in Bye Bye Birdie, Margaretta in The Sound of Music, and a few others. Off the stage Salma loves to play sports, her favorite being Volleyball and she loves to sing in her school's Concert Choir. And that's why Salma would like to thank her family (Mom, Tim, Sara, Mercy and Jesse) and the amazing Jansen Family for all of there love and support because without them, none of her successes would be possible. I hope you enjoy the show! BOBERTZ R2P ,++ .#-/ ')0&00!0(**$$"%

She has also been in four Lansing High School shows, including Fiddler on the Roof (Chava) and Cats (Rumpleteazer). When not onstage, Sarah is usually singing, playing piano, babysitting, or singing :) She would like to thank anyone and everyone who made this show possible, and hopes everyone enjoys the show! SARAH GRIGGS (Cora/Speed Tapper): Sarah is going into her senior year at Newfield High School and will be participating in the New Visions program at Cayuga Medical Center. She is on the Armstrong School of Dance competition team and has toured as a "Dance Caravan Kid,” danced at Radio City as part of the Rockette Summer Intensive, and will be dancing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this fall. She is active in the drama program at Newfield, both in stage management and as a choreographer. This school year she did the choreography for the Newfield high school production of, The Wiz. In the fall she will begin working with Playwright’s Horizons in New York City. She would like to thank Gail, Joey, and Todd for this wonderful opportunity, her fantastic designers, production team, cast, and crew for helping to create such a wonderful show, and her friends and family for putting up with her dream. WYNTER LATORRE (Millie) is so unbelievably EXCITED to be in R2Ps Thoroughly Modern Millie!!! She likes to spend the majority of her time putting on excessive amounts of makeup, dressing up, and singing songs while pretending to be other people (aka musical theatre!)-both at school and with R2P. She was last seen as Aunt Em in The Wiz at IHS. Many, many thanks to the cast, crew, her parents for putting up with her (especially during tech week), and her poor neighbors, who had no choice but listen to her practice endlessly. Enjoy the show!!!

RUNNING TO PLACES STAFF GAIL BELOKUR (Resident Producer and Co-Artistic Director) received her BA as a Drama major from Ithaca College and has worked professionally with young people in the performing arts in Upstate New York for over 20 years. Her wide range of credits include directing, stage managing, producing, and designing (scenic, costume and lighting) for dozens of plays, musicals and dance recitals for middle and high school students. As founder and artistic director of New Vine Productions, Gail also taught acting workshops and developed arts programs for theatre, dance, music and the visual arts before leaving to help launch Running to Places. Gail is also the proud new “Nana” of her first grandson, Dominick, who joined us on July 5th. She thanks and sends love to husband, George, and their children Kristen, Shauna and Michael. JOEY STEINHAGEN (Resident Director and Co-Artistic Director) has been teaching, acting in, and directing theatre for young people throughout Tompkins County since 1993. He received his BFA in Acting from Ithaca College. Over the years, he has directed musicals and plays at Ithaca and Dryden High Schools, Dryden, Boynton, and Dewitt Middle Schools, for the Northern Lights Learning Center, and the Hangar Theatre’s Kiddstuff series. Joey has taught acting at Ithaca College, Cornell, SUNY Cortland, Hangar Theatre’s Next Generation program, and the Ithaca Youth Bureau. As an actor, Joey is a familiar face on the stage of the Kitchen Theatre, having appeared in many Mainstage and Family Fare shows. He is proudest of his favorite production, Aram. LINDA HARRIS (Finance Manager) As an R2P parent she was, and continues to be, extremely inspired by the dedication of the founders of R2P. She has observed their positive influence on our sons and daughters and the enormous amount of personal time they give, all delivered with never ending enthusiasm and a smile. When R2P reached the goal of obtaining their non-profit status (no small feat in itself!) and needed to move forward to prepare to do business “officially” she gladly volunteered her services to help them set up shop. She brings with her, (in addition to her enthusiasm and excitement!), over twenty years of finance and administrative experience. More than ten of those years were in the non-profit sector such as The Chemical Dependencies Clinic of Otsego County and most recently, several years as the Finance Manager at the Cayuga Nature Center. Presently she is a Grant and Contract Officer for the College of Ag and Life Sciences at Cornell. She is looking forward to working with the rest of the R2P staff “behind the scenes”, (where Gail knows she is happiest!), and supporting their hard work and heartfelt efforts for our local youth. TODD PETERSON (Resident Choreographer) has been performing and instructing professionally for over 20 years. A former Broadway performer, Todd was trained locally and in New York City. His instructional and choreographic genre include ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, and acrobatic forms of dance. While training and performing in NYC Todd attended the Henry Le Tang and Broadway Center for performing arts. Among his list of accomplishments, Todd is a previous Dance Educators of America Performing Arts Champion, featured dancer for the Miss Black America Pageant, Showcase performer for the Frank Hatchett, Gregory/Maurice Hines Dance Center in Springfield Massachusetts, director/choreographer for The Peace Child Foundation’s production of "City of Peace under the mentorship of Shakespeare in the Park creator Arthur Lithgow. Todd was ranked 5th nationally in men’s solo baton twirling at Americas Youth on Parade in South Bend Indiana. While attending America’s Youth on Parade he also was ranked #2 in the international Drum Major Contest. Todd is an inductee in the Twirlers Hall of Fame. He also opened for the Bob Hope thanks for the Memories tour in Utica New York. Locally he was the co-founder/director of Ithaca’s Thunderbolt Parade and Show Corp, co-founder of the Boynton Theatre Project, Dance instructor for CSMA, and SUNY Cortland. Todd has choreographed for SUNY Cortland, Cornell University, Boynton and Dewitt Middle Schools, and Ithaca and Lansing High Schools. Currently, Todd is an Educator with the Ithaca City School District as well as the proud director of the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s Stewart Park Day Camp. Todd and his family were recently featured in the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian) IndiVisible exhibit in Washington D.C.
