Winter Carnival Thank YouThanks go out to all the sponsors, volunteers and attendees of this year’s winter Carnival! Held on January 20th, the winter

weather came out in full force, but that could not stop our hearty community members from coming out and enjoying all the

outdoor activities. Families took part in sleigh rides, snowshoeing, skating, tug-of-war, chilli, hot dogs and a campfire with

marshmallows. Indoors, Dr Kaboom delighted the kids with magic tricks and lots of fun.

Thank you to all the fall craft sale artists, crafters and vendors who donated crafts and items towards our silent auctions for the

winter carnval. Our selection was great this year and the funds raised go towards this newsletter and running other community

events. Our community businesses are so supportive and we appreciate your support and certainly we, as community

members, will continue to support your businesses as well.

Our long term coordinator of this event, Marianne Cox, is leaving us this year. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work

pulling off this Trend Arlington main event. You will be missed! If anyone wishes to take on this event, please contact

Marianne at [email protected]

Thank-you to our Rink volunteersAnother year of hard work for our outdoor rink operations team has paid off. We were open from December 29th

until March 4th. Things went smoothly with the help of all our volunteers and snow removal assistance from

Appleseed. We would like to thank the rink coordinator Trevor Poole and his family, rink attendants, parents and

student volunteers for all their hard work in keeping the rink well organized and maintained. We are very fortunate to

have dedicated volunteers who provide an essential Canadian winter pastime for families in the community and also

for Knoxdale and Greenbank schools. The kids have greatly enjoyed a classic Canadian winter. on some of the best ice

A special Thank You to Appleseed Snow Removal for your kindness and

generosity to our community.

The 2013 Hockey Day in Ward 9 shinny hockey

tournament was a big success again this year with 21

teams competing at three local community outdoor

rinks across Ward 9 in Nepean: Trend-Arlington,

Manordale-Woodvale and General Burns.

Hosted by the ward council in Ward 9, the Knoxdale-

Merivale Council of Community Associations (KMC),

Hockey Day in Ward 9 takes place on the second

Saturday in February every year and is part of the

Hockey Day in Canada festivities taking place across the

Country.

Sponsored by Myers Motors, Appleseed Plowing, Tim

Horton's, Canadian Tire and Councillor Egli, Hockey

Day in Ward 9 is a fun event for family and friends to

play Canada’s favorite past-time, outside on our local

neighborhood rinks.

All 2013 tournament participants received a

commemorative puck and enjoyed hot chili, coffee, hot

chocolate and Timbits from Tim Horton's throughout

the day.
