The Cloud topic
• Too much jargon
• Too many definitions
• Everyone rebranding to Cloud
• Is it all about Infrastructure?

What about UK Government?
"The Americans have adopted what they call a cloud first policy, and I anticipate that we will be doing something similar“
Martin BellamyG-Cloud delivery boardDirector of change and ICTNational Offender Management ServiceMinistry of Justice

"the fundamental interconnectedness of all things"
What about the Cloud Channel?
• 85% of the channel no relationship with Cloud• Economics and value different• Who owns the customer?• Customer told how to buy• Channel being told sell more for less• It’s in a huge mess• Lots of players and ingredients• Market forces will bake it in to a channel

procedures

10 thoughts on the Cloud• Plenty of growth in Cloud Computing, although it’s still only a
fraction of overall IT spend• The industry needs to speak with more clarity about Cloud• The intersection of Cloud, Mobile and Social will transform the smart
enterprises • For buyers there has never been more choice• But picking winners is tougher – who will be around in 3 years?• Security is still the big issue/barrier/misconception• Cloud supply chain is crucial – data security, privacy, sovereignty• IT and the CIO are looking to standards and best practice (so
consider the CIF Code of Practice)• The CIO can be more strategic, but needs to watch for the business
units doing their own thing• Even in the current economic climate it’s a great time for cloud
solution providers if you’ve got vision, passion and agility
