ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

FRESHMAN Admission Requirements*

To qualify for admission to CSUDH, a First-Time Freshman applicant must:

• Be a high school graduate.

• Have a qualifiable eligibility index (CSUDH.EDU/FutureStudents).

• Complete, with letter grades of “C” or higher ,the 15 A-G comprehensive pattern of collegepreparatory courses listed below:

A. History/Social Science - 2 years, including1 year of U.S. History and government.

B. English - 4 years.

C. Mathematics - 3 years (4 recommended). Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.

D. Laboratory Science - 2 years. One biological and one physical.

E. Foreign Language - 2 years of the same foreign language or demonstrated equivalent competence.

F. V isual and Performing Arts - 1 year-long approved course in visual art, dance, drama/theater or music. May complete 2 semester-long courses from the same discipline.

G. Electives - 1 year. May be selected from A-G or other approved college preparatory “A-G” courses.

TRANSFER Admission Requirements†

To qualify for admission to CSUDH, an Upper Division Transfer applicant must:

• Have completed 60 transferablesemester units (90 quarter units).

• Have completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter) units of general educationcourses, graded “C” or better in eachcourse including:

o 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in written communication,

o 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in oral communication,

o 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in critical thinking, and

o 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in mathematics/quantitative reasoning. The mathematics course must be above the level of intermediate algebra.

• Have left in good standing at the last college or university attended.

• Have a minimum 2.0 GPA in alltransferable coursework attempted.

STEPS FOR APPLYING TO CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS

Submit an application online at CSUDH.EDU/Apply and pay the $55 nonrefundable application fee. You can request a fee waiver when applying online. Fee waivers are only available to qualified California residents and approved AB 540/AB 2000 applicants.

You will receive an application confirmation letter to let you know that we have received your application, which includes your student ID number and account information.

Activate your My.CSUDH.EDU account to view your application status and determine if there are any documents you need to turn in.

DOMINGUEZ HILLSFIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE (#DHFYE)

A unique program offered at CSUDH, the Dominguez Hills First-Year Experience (#DHFYE) prepares incoming first-time freshmen for a strong first year at the university with the academic skills, connections, resources and confidence necessary to succeed in class and on campus.

#DHFYE helps you transition to new college-level coursework requirements and university life with an accelerated, high-impact, six-week summer course held on the CSUDH campus before you start your first term. As part of this program, incoming freshman have the opportunity to:

• Ear n credits toward their degrees and bebetter prepared to graduate on time.

• Make friendships that last thr oughout collegeand beyond.

• Connect with a dedicated peer mentor and academic advisor for extra academic support.

• Get a free laptop to use in and out of class.• T ake part in College Knowledge workshops for

tips on succeeding on campus.• Receive no-cost supplemental instruction for

help with classwork and studies.• Engage with pr ofessors in small, intimate and

interactive class settings.

DOMINGUEZ HILLSTRANSFER LEARNING COMMUNITY (#DHTLC)

The Dominguez Hills Transfer Learning Community (#DHTLC) serves as a bridge for transfer students as they transition from community college to the CSUDH campus. Through #DHTLC, transfer students are supported as they find their place at CSUDH; develop academic, self-management and critical thinking skills; and engage in career planning and major/career exploration. #DHTLC participants benefit from:

WE HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOU CSUDH offers a wide array of scholarship opportunities to entering students beginning with our most prestigious scholarships:

1Presidential Scholarships cover full in-state tuition and fees, provides anannual book allowance, parking permit, annual on-campus housing stipend and research opportunities.

2Katherine B. Loker Scholarship awards $4,000 to a student residing in onethe following cities: Carson, Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Torrance or Wilmington with a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.

3Honors Scholarship ranges from $2,500 - $3,000 annually to students with aminimum 3.4 GPA and with at least a score of 1000 SAT or 25 ACT. Each of these scholarships are renewable for an additional 3 years for entering freshmen and one additional year for transfer students.

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURECenter for Science & Innovation Summer 2019

Breaking ground soon is the Center for Science & Innovation building, an 87,000 gross square foot modern instructional facility. The new building will provide state-of-the-art science labs and classrooms supporting innovations in science, math education and faculty research. The new interactive learning classrooms, research labs and common gathering space is designed to foster collaboration and increase faculty and student interaction.
