In particular Miranda Cartwright from Year 8 has taken on the role of one of the comperes for Starstruck this is a magnificent achievement. As always all of this would not be possible without the support and encouragement of the staff at Belmont High School especially Karen Newman, Erin Finnane and Renee Berger. John Gill is also taking on the role of musical coordinator. Every Student, Every School Parents may have seen recent newspaper reports on the Every Student, Every School initiative of the NSW government. This initiative is to provide a different model of supporting students with disabilities enrolled in regular classes. A parent fact sheet is included in this letter for your information. As far as Belmont High School is concerned the changes will mean an increase in support staff from 1.3 to 1.9 teachers with a small reduction in funds to support the program. The program will start from the beginning of Term 3 with planning for implementation underway at the moment. Muswellbrook Eisteddfod Congratulations to the drama students who participated in the recent Muswellbrook Eisteddfod. The students who took part in the competition took out first place in three divisions, second in two and a highly commended in another. Well done to the students and their teacher Renee Berger! Big Picture Recently I had the pleasure of attending the presentation conducted by students from Belmont High School‟s Special Education classes as part of their Big Picture project work. In Big Picture students all have a personal learning plan which is based on their specific interests. It is developed with input from the students, their adviser and parents. It includes an individual project. Congratulations to all of the students involved in these presentations. Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) Partnership Agreement Recently Belmont High School hosted the signing of the Partnership Agreement ceremony between the Belmont Learning Community schools (BHS, Belmont Public, Belmont North Public, Floraville Public and Jewells Public) and the Minimbah AECG. Congratulations to BHS students Jasmine Lefoe and Gelina Byers who acted as MC and did the acknowledgement of country at this ceremony. Well done girls! CCTV Last year I indicated in Quantum that we were investigating the installation of closed circuit television in a number of areas around the school. This was as a result of a number of break-ins and vandalism attacks outside of schools hours as well as theft of student property. New schools have video cameras installed in key areas such as sick bay as part of their standard equipment.

Landscape architects plan and design land areas for projects such as parks, schools, hospitals,

roads, malls, plazas, sports complexes, holiday resorts, hotel complexes, shopping centres, airports, housing

subdivisions, national parks, playgrounds and commercial, industrial and residential sites.

Personal requirements:

analytical and planning ability

enjoy and have talent for design

enjoy the natural environment

able to work independently or as part of a team

Education and Training: study a landscape architecture degree at a university accredited by the Australian

Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).

Employment opportunities: Most landscape architects are employed in small, private consultancies or with

private businesses such as architects and town planners. The remainder, work in federal, state, territory and

local government agencies. Many landscape architects establish their own practices.

mechanisms, treatments and detection of biological poisoning, especially the poisoning of people.

Australian Schools Based Apprenticeship Program Reece and Murray Mallee Training Company Ltd have developed an Australian School based Apprenticeship Program (ASBA) offering exciting employment, training and career opportunities for students. Students can commence this program in either Years 10 or 11 and continue through to Year 12. This national program, which is also promoted and supported by State and Commonwealth Governments, provides the opportunity for students to combine their studies with part time work at local Reece stores.
