PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

It’s autumn! With the leaves falling and the nights getting cooler we

are in the midst of another season change. Make sure to drink extra

water, get more sleep and try to eat healthier because these

fluctuating temperatures can challenge our immune system.

Now that autumn is here we are ready for Jefferson’s Autumn Fest

and City Wide Rummage Sale. Come to Jefferson on Saturday,

October 5 and take part in all the fun and festivities. There will be local businesses setting up

outside on the downtown sidewalks promoting their business. There will also be face painting

and hayrides for the kids and also food vendors.

Autumn Fest is also the same day as the Jefferson City-Wide Rummage Sale. So after you take in the festivities downtown, you can stop by the Chamber office and pick up the map showing

all the rummage sale locations throughout town.

We want to give a great big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped run the Chamber

Food Booth during Gemuetlichkeit Days. We had a tremendous turn out and everyone did a

great job!

We also just had our Fall Car Show and with the great weather, the Chamber Food Booth also

ran very smoothly. We want to thank all the chamber members and other social organizations

that volunteered and helped us sell steak sandwiches and other goodies to all the car show

attendees.

Our next Good Morning Jefferson is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16 starting at 7:15am.

It will be located at the Puerner Room on the third floor of the Fort Community Credit Union

building. Make sure to bring a friend, local business owner and/or potential chamber member

for refreshments, donuts and networking with other local business leaders.

The last Farmer’s Market will be on October 10. Make sure to help close out another great

season of local, fresh produce and crafts on that Thursday from 11am to 6pm behind city hall.

Jefferson will also be having it’s Art Walk scheduled for Saturday, October 12 from 10:00 am –

4:00 pm. This is a fun and cultural day filled with Art-Music-Food-Kids’ Art Activities. You

Jefferson Memory Care

The members of Horizon Care Group are excited to partner with the City of Jefferson and the citizens of

Jefferson County and the surrounding communities to bring state of the art memory facility to the area.

We offer a special thank you to the civic leaders of the City of Jefferson in helping to make this possible.

When the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia related diseases become too great for an individual to

remain at home, a facility specializing in caring for these needs may be a wonderful alternative.

Jefferson Memory Care and its staff will be committed to providing “person-centered” care that meets

the specific needs of each individual while giving families the peace of mind knowing their loved one is

well cared for in all aspects of their lives.

The environment at Jefferson Memory Care will be designated to promote less anxiety, more sociability

and a strong sense of community among the residents. Purposeful activities help the residents feel

productive and involved. The residents can enjoy their daily routines and gain self-esteem which lead to

reduced frustration, fewer behavior issues and a better quality of life.

The facility, located in Jefferson, features 60 rooms and will be divided into four 15 room

neighborhoods. The resident rooms each have their own bathroom and shower. Each neighborhood has

a living area with room to entertain guests and a large screen television for viewing favorite programs. A

dining room/activity area is also in each neighborhood to allow for smaller “family” dining and

convenience to resident’s rooms. Two enclosed outdoor courtyards are in the center of the building to

allow residents to enjoy nature, but also to prevent wandering.

A larger “bistro” room will accommodate activities such as musical entertainment and games and will

also provide space for family gatherings for birthdays and holiday parties. Walk-in whirlpool spas are

also a wonderful treat that the residents may wish to use along with a full service beauty/barber shop.

The staff at Jefferson Memory Care will be specifically trained in memory issues. Services include

medication management, personalized dietary and activity plans, personal hygiene assistance,

incontinence management and respite care. Care will be based on the residents’ preferences and

historical patterns. Every effort will be made to keep the residents involved in activities that have been

important to them in the past.

Security will be provided by the physical design of the facility and the activities and redirection provided

by the staff. Delayed egress and alarmed doors further enhance the safety of the residents.

The goal at Jefferson Memory Care will be to provide a safe place for residents to maximize their health

and quality of life as long as possible. By doing so, residents and their families are given something

priceless--peace of mind.

The construction of the Jefferson Memory Care will be done by Innovative Construction Management,

Curt Crotty President.

If you would like more information, please call Keith & Terri Tompkins, your family services advisors at

608-799-0993.
