There will also be a time to share requests for yourself or others. This Pastor's Study is open to any and all who wish for bible study, prayer group or simply Christian fellowship. Again, all you need to do is show up with a willingness to hear the Spirit! VOLUME XXVIII NO. 9 _______________ September 2016

Back to the Basics

Another school year has rolled around and the kids are finally back in class. After a summer

of ball games, vacations and other activities now is the time to get back to the basics. Interestingly

enough, it seems that many congregations have likewise gotten into the habit of following the

school calendar. Not one to disappoint, I would like to take a bit of time to extend a 'back to

school' invitation concerning a couple of educational opportunities beginning in September.

The first opportunity may be familiar to some. Starting Tuesday, September 6th at 1:30 pm

we will resume our weekly bible study. This time was formerly used for book study, but members

of the class expressed an interest in studying books in the bible. We do this in a read-a-long

fashion, with the pastor and class members have an opportunity to ask questions and give

insights. We completed a study of the book of James in July and will pick up with our bible study

beginning with I Peter. All you need to do is bring along a bible and join in the discussion!

The second opportunity will be a new opportunity for those who are not available during

the day. On Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., I will offer a short study on the lectionary scripture

for the coming Sunday. After our study of the bible passage, we will tend to any prayer requests

we have received during the past week through Joy & Concerns as well as the Prayer Chain. There

will also be a time to share requests for yourself or others. This Pastor's Study is open to any and

all who wish for bible study, prayer group or simply Christian fellowship. Again, all you need to do

is show up with a willingness to hear the Spirit!

As we send our children off to 'hit the books', it is only fitting that we take the time to

rededicate ourselves to the study of God's Word. This is, after all, one of the best ways to get to

know God and to know one another! Won't you consider joining one or both of these groups as

we come together to seek God's Truth?

Please also remember to pray for their families for the sacrifice they make while their

loved one is serving our country.

Nursery care is available for children 0-4 years of age. (Older children are encouraged to attend Children’s Church during worship and enjoy the Kid’s Korner during fellowship.) At least two volunteers who have gone through the SafeChurch Training will be available to be in the nursery during worship each Sunday. Parents may bring their children to the nursery 5 – 10 minutes before worship begins. (8:50 a.m. or after) and pick them up immediately following worship. Please provide for your child’s needs while they are being cared for in the nursery. A bag with diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes will be greatly appreciated. Please also bring whatever snacks and drinks you will allow your children to have!

If you have any questions or wish to register your children for nursery care, please contact Bonnie Nesler at

Please consider joining us on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines or consider contributing monetarily by visiting the website below http://support.pancan.org/site/TR/PurpleStride (click on team & enter Kathy’s Honor) Thank you!
