The M.Com students of the department of Commerce arranged an

industrial visit as a part of the curricular activity on 20.09.2017. 51 students of I

and II year M.Com students visited Two business establishments.

Lofty Optical Industries, Sea Laards Building, Pudukadai, Kanyakumari

District.

The students were guided by Mr. Nagarajan, the General Manager of the

company. He gave an orientation about the history and how the company was

established. It is a manufacturing company which produces optical frames. They

import their raw materials from South Africa and Dubai. He explained the

different types of materials used in the process of producing the optical frames.

The final product is being sold to major optical companies like Titan and other

companies. The products are sold in different brand names to cover all types of

users.

TANSCO, Marthandam, Kanyakumari District

The students visited the TANSCO, wood processing industry in Marthandam.

Mr.D.N.Alex, proprietor of the company gave a brief explanation about the

company. He explained the nature of business and the manufacturing process.

The students were taken to various process and were given detailed explanation

about the same. Students had interaction with workers to gather information

about the various process.

Next, the students were taken to Muttom fishing harbour and visited the fish

landing station and the boats used for fishing. The students interacted with the

people in the harbour and collected information about processing of fish and the

procedures for the export of fish.
