    1.3 TESTING SETUPS

    Test Procedure

    1. Set down the EUT with support uni ts and turn on the power of a l l equipment.

    2. Pre- test the EUT in a l l modes by each model, then f igure the worst case out.

    3. Execute the appropr iate program to exercise the EUT.

    4. Moni tor the EUT to determine i f i t works properly to meet the required performance

    cr i ter ia dur ing immunity tests.

    Test of Radiated Emission

    The EUT was placed on a turn table which was 0.8 meter above ground. The turn table can rotate 360 degrees to determine the posi t ion of the maximum emission level . EUT was set 3 meters away from the receiv ing antenna which was mounted on a antenna tower. The antenna can move up and down between 1 to 4 meters to f ind out the maximum emission level . Broadband antenna (cal ibrated biconical and log per iodical antenna) were used as a receiving antenna. Both hor izontal and vert ical polar izat ion of the antenna were set on measurement. The bandwidth of the HP Spectrum Analyzer 8593EM was set at 120kHz. The frequency range from 30MHz to 1000MHz was checked.

    Test of Conducted Power l ine

    The EUT was put on table which was above the ground by 80cm and i ts power cord connected to the AC mains through an Art i f ic ial Mains Network (A.M.N.) . This provided a 50 ohm coupl ing impedance for the tested equipment. Both s ides of A.C. l ine were checked to f ind out the maximum conducted emission according to EN61000-6-3 (CISPR 22) regulat ions dur ing conducted emission measurement. The bandwidth of the R&S Test Receiver ESH3 was set at 10kHz. The frequency range from 150kHz to 30MHz was checked.

    The test setup consists of the test generator, EUT and auxi l iary instrumentat ion necessary

    to perform DIRECT and INDIRECT appl icat ion of d ischarges to the EUT as appl icable, in

    TEST PROCEDURE

    The EUT was placed on a ground reference plane and was insulated from i t by an insulat ing

    support about 0.1m thick. I f the EUT is table- top equipment, i t was located approximately

    0.8m above the GRP. The GRP was a metal l ic sheet (copper or a luminum) of 0.25mm,

    minimum thickness; other metal l ic may be used but they shal l have at least 0.65mm

    thickness. I t shal l project beyond the EUT by at least 0.1m on al l s ides and connected to

    the protect ive earth. In the EMC LAB, we provided 1mm thickness aluminum ground

    reference plane or 1mm thickness stain less steel ground reference plane. The minimum

    size of the ground reference plane is 1m×1m, the exact s ize depending on the dimensions

    of the EUT. I t was connected to the protect ive grounding system. The EUT was arranged

    and connected according to i ts funct ional requirements. The minimum distance between the

    EUT and other conduct ive structures, except the GRP beneath the EUT, was more than

    0.5m. Using the coupl ing c lamp, the minimum distance between the coupl ing plates and al l

    other conduct ive structures, except the GRP, beneath the EUT, was more than 0.5m. The

    length of the s ignal and power l ines between the coupl ing device and the EUT was 1m less.
