External Swage Notched Stems and Ferrules

• When used with an appropriate notched ferrule, these fittings can be swaged or crimpedonto hose, thereby providing improved shank retention.For hose O.D.'s of 2-4/64" and below, these couplings are to be crimped only.For hose O.D.'s of 2-5/64" and above, these couplings can be crimped or swaged.

• The stem can be removed from a damaged hose by cutting away the ferrule, withoutnecessarily damaging the fitting. After inspection to determine its suitability for reuse,it can be reinstalled into another hose by using a new ferrule.

• Notched stems let you use the same ferrules used with the notched (NO) cam and grooveand notched turned back nipples. This lets you maximize your inventory usage and reducecosts.

• PF shank King Combination nipples have the same shank pattern as found on the PF style cam and groovefittings sold on page 30. This shank design was developed specifically for chemical transport hoses havingCrosslinked Polyethylene (XLPE) or Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW) tubes, where shankretention can be a problem when using conventional band clamps.

End Seal SwivelsDeveloped for pressure service in applications where material entrapment, common to mostswivel designs, makes it difficult to turn the swivel and causes contamination from load to load.End seal swivels are limited to the same working pressure as the King Combination nippleshank design.

• Low torque• No gap between swivel housings• Short overall length• Replaceable bearings and wear surfaces• Chemically resistant Teflon® encapsulated seal is standard• Pressure ratings at ambient temperature (70°F).

The constant vibration created by air tools, like air drills and pavement breakers, is destructive to air hosecouplings, especially the quick-acting type. To provide protection against coupling breakage and related

hazards, Dixon recommends the use of a whip hose. To construct a whip hose, connect one end of a short (3' to 10') airhose to the air tool using a 3500 type steel nipple. Connect the other end of the hose to the air supply using thestandard quick-acting coupling. The heat-treated 3500 nipple is will withstand vibration far better than the standardcoupling and provide a safer connection. The whip hose should remain permanently connected to the tool.
