• Sacagawea met the explorers,
Lewis and Clark, when they
visited her village. They asked for
her help on their journey.
• She led Lewis and Clark on the
journey as a guide and
interpreter, and she also provided
food for them.
• She was a very brave and strong.
One time when they were going
over rapids all of their food and
supplies fell off into the river. She
reached out and caught them
while holding Pomp.
• When winter came, they made a
fort next to the Pacific Ocean.
While they were there a whale
had beached, and they all went to
look at the big fish.
Nobody knows when Sacagawea
actually passed away. Some say in
1812, but others say in 1884. 1812, but others say in 1884.

• Sacagawea is known all around
the world as the Indian girl that
traveled with Lewis and Clark and
led them on their famous
expedition.
