Woodlands Resort, nestled in

the scenic Laurel Highlands of

Southwestern Pennsylvania,

where we’ve taken the luxury

vacation experience to

unparalleled levels.

The Hardy family’s journey began in 1987 with the

purchase of the Nemacolin property. Our vision was

to create a world-class resort unlike any other; to

create a getaway designed for couples, families and

corporate gatherings – a “something for everyone”

destination.

Many years later, we’re proud to offer several

lodging options ranging from the luxurious

to the comfort of Maggie Valley RV Park. We’re

equally proud of the activities that abound.

HISTORYThe land where Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

now sits has a long history dating back to 1740,

when a rugged trail was carved through the Laurel

Highlands between what is now Cumberland,

Maryland and Brownsville, Pennsylvania. The

trailblazer was native Delaware Indian, Chief

Nemacolin. Assisted by frontiersman, Thomas

Cresap, the trail was the most direct route from

east to west. Later expanded by Colonel George

Washington and General Edward Braddock during

the French and Indian War, the trail eventually

became known as the National Highway by

Congress in the mid-1800s. Today, that road is

called Route 40, the major mountain artery where

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort now sits.

By the early 1900s, the Laurel Highlands became

a popular and fashionable retreat for wealthy

Pittsburgh industrialists and merchants. At the

same time vacation retreats, such as the Kaufmann

family’s Frank Lloyd Wright designed Fallingwater

were being built, Nemacolin was also being

minimally developed. During the 1930s, lots were

established and offered for sale as summer homes

and hunting retreats.

In 1949, Pittsburgh industrialist, Willard F. Rockwell

(Rockwell International), purchased 60 acres here

in the Laurel Highlands. In 1968, he established a

private game reserve on what is now Nemacolin

Woodlands Resort. This property was named

Nemacolin Trails Hunting Reserve. The Rockwells

invited friends and business associates to hunt and

fish the 400-acre reserve, populated by silver fox,

bear and white-tailed deer. A hunting lodge was

constructed in 1968, designed by Rockwell’s friend

and former college roommate, C.W. Balling, of

nearby Fairchance, Pennsylvania. The 10-room Tudor

lodge was quickly expanded to 33 rooms.

The property was sold in 1979 to Cordelia Mellon

Scaife, and became an exclusive conference

center. Three years later, the property returned to

the Rockwell Family. Kent Rockwell, Willard’s son,

purchased the conference center and opened it to

the public.

In 1987, Joseph A. Hardy, III, founder of 84 Lumber

Company, purchased 550 acres of the Nemacolin

property at an auction he attended in the hopes of

purchasing a few acres of woodlands near a lake or

stream for his daughter, Maggie, who loved to fish.

Hardy and his daughter, Maggie, promptly set about

transforming the property into its present state –

a 2,000 acre world-class resort, and recipient of

the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide and American

Automobile Association (AAA) awards. In 2002,

Hardy transferred full ownership of the resort to

his daughter, Maggie Hardy Magerko, who still

serves as President and Owner, and continues to

grow the resort.

Today, Nemacolin is the proud home to Forbes Five-

Star, AAA Five-Diamond dining at Lautrec Restaurant

and AAA Five-Diamond lodging at Falling Rock hotel.

A tribute to the organic architectural style of Frank

Lloyd Wright, Falling Rock overlooks the 18th green of

Mystic Rock, a PGA Tour-tested golf course designed

by Pete Dye. Each guest at Falling Rock has access

Our newly remodeled 124-room Chateau Lafayette

features luxurious lodging with classic European flair.

Elegant guestroom décor includes vaulted ceilings,

an additional sitting area with sofa and arm chair.

All options offer a flat screen television, an in-room

safe, coffee maker, plush spa robes, mini-refrigerators

Nemacolin offers accommodations on the Lafayette

Club Level, featuring private access and personal

THE LODGE

Purchased from the Rockwell family in 1987 by

Joseph A. Hardy III, founder of Nemacolin and

84 Lumber, the Lodge has evolved from a 33-room

vacation home to an elegant 97-room lodging

and conference center. The recently renovated

Tudor-style Lodge offers the warmth of an English

country inn while providing tastefully appointed room

accommodations. Each room features one king or

two double bed accommodations.

TOWNHOUSES

Located within the grounds of the resort, Nemacolin

Townhouses are ideal for families or groups of

friends who choose to make themselves at home in

a more secluded setting. Each Townhouse offers two

bedrooms, complete with a fully functional kitchen

and dining area, living room, deck, plus standard

guestroom features and amenities.

PRIVATE LUXURY HOMES

Nemacolin’s Luxury Home Collection represents

a diverse mix of housing opportunities, providing

the space and privacy of your own home with full

room and bell service. Private Butler service is also

available in select homes for an additional charge.

Featuring five distinct options, the Resort’s Luxury

Home Collection is ideal for families or groups that

prefer a more secluded setting, yet still want to take

MAGGIE VALLEY RV PARK

An ideal location for RVing enthusiasts, Nemacolin’s

Maggie Valley RV Park brings the amenities of a

resort hotel room to the comfort of your RV. Enjoy

cool Pennsylvania mountain evenings sitting at the

picnic table or around the wood-burning fire pit

located at each RV site. Our 20 paved RV spaces

are nestled in the wooded settings of the Laurel

Highlands and include cable TV, water, electric and

sewage hookups, telephone jack and high-speed

internet access.

GOLFAn integral part of the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

experience is the game of golf. Nemacolin has

36 holes of championship golf along with some of

the most breathtaking scenery Pennsylvania has to

offer. Against the backdrop of the Laurel Highlands,

Nemacolin’s two courses, PGA Tour-tested Mystic

Rock and the tricky par-70 The Links Course, provide

striking contrasts in design and promise to challenge

MYSTIC ROCK

Mystic Rock has challenged some of the best

players in the world, such as John Daly, Vijay

Singh, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Designed

by the legendary Pete Dye, Mystic Rock plays

7,526 yards from the tips. With strategically placed

bunkers, boulders and water hazards, a round of

golf on Nemacolin’s prestigious PGA Tour-tested

Mystic Rock is unlike any other, and highlights the

natural beauty of the Laurel Highlands. A par-72

course, with a 77 rating and a 149 slope from the

championship tees, Mystic Rock has garnered

top honors from Golfweek and Golf Digest.

The Woodlands Spa is a haven of peace and

tranquility; one we are sure will be an intoxicating

retreat from the stresses of life. Here, we surround

you with lush ambiance and innovative therapies.

Based on the principles of Feng Shui and designed by

Clodagh, our treatments offer a soothing sanctuary

for the mind, body and soul. Forty well-appointed

treatment rooms, including four couple’s rooms,

are home to nearly one hundred rejuvenating

treatments and services. Choose from an array of

massages, body scrubs and wraps, hydrotherapies,

bathing rituals, facials, manicures and pedicures.

Signature services include our Water Path treatment,

the Woodlands Hot Stone Shirodhara, which is

only performed at five spas nationwide, and the

Dream Catcher, a blend of Native American healing

techniques and the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage.

THE HOLISTIC HEALING CENTER

The Holistic Healing Center at Horizon Point focuses

on integrative methods designed to achieve life

and AAA Five-Diamond restaurant features European

style cuisine made from the finest ingredients found

locally and internationally. The menu is a prix-fixe format

in which guests can create their own four-course menu

or dine from the seven-course Chef’s Tasting menu. Á

la carte dining is not available. To properly complement

pair flights of wine for the menu of your choosing and a

selection of artisanal cheeses, loose-leaf tea service and

AQUEOUS

Aqueous proudly offers refined cuisine and stylish

service in our Frank Lloyd Wright inspired restaurant.

Nestled inside Falling Rock boutique hotel, Aqueous

takes the upscale steakhouse concept to an entirely

new level. The menu features American cuisine

using the finest domestic ingredients with a strong

emphasis on local product and seasonal cooking.

Aqueous differs from traditional “steakhouses”

due to its strong in-house dry aging and on-site

cutting program. In addition to our Prime, Dry Aged

and Certified Angus selections, you will have the

opportunity to indulge in artistic preparations of

seafood, poultry and unique pastry creations.

AUTUMN

Located in the Lodge, Autumn’s dinner menu favors

a relaxed pace, a chance to enjoy a leisurely repast.

With regional cuisine featuring the finest ingredients

found on local farms and with a focus on “sustainable

seafood,” the menu selections are designed to create

a multiple course meal, with wine suggestions for

each course.

SUNSET TERRACE

Enjoy your summer days and evenings poolside at

the Sunset Terrace. Overlooking the 18th hole of the

PGA Tour-tested, Pete Dye designed Mystic Rock

golf course and Falling Rock’s Infinity Pool, enjoy

outdoor dining at Sunset Terrace. Specializing in

an upscale, yet comfortable approach to cuisine

featuring authentic flavors. Available seasonally.

CASUAL DININGTHE TAVERN

Fashioned after a traditional English pub, the Tavern

offers a casual atmosphere with pub-style fare.

Dine in the bar, restaurant or sidewalk-cafe near

the 8,500-gallon free-standing saltwater aquarium

that kids love. While there, enjoy a game of pool on

the Tavern’s antique Brunswick pool tables. Open

year-round, the Tavern serves lunch and dinner daily.

Their casual menu features flavors and favorites seen

on typical “English Pub” menus.

CADDYSHACK

The Shack is back and finger lickin’ good! The wide-

variety menu features the CaddyShack’s private

smokehouse and rotisserie, which allow our chefs to

slow cook some of the best tasting barbecue around.

A selection of American family favorites make the

menu complete! Available seasonally.

PJ’S ICE CREAM & PIZZA PARLOR

Kids from ages 1 to 91 can enjoy a selection of pizzas,

salads and old-fashioned ice cream while sitting

in a vintage automobile booth. PJ’s, Nemacolin’s

1950’s style ice cream and pizza parlor, features old

fashioned ice cream, floats, banana splits and many

more delicious ice cream treats!

SEASONAL FARE

A variety of outlets featuring casual fare are also

available seasonally from the home-style breakfast

and lunch offerings at The Gazebo to the laid back

and relaxing Paradise Pool.

Woven throughout 140-acres of woodlands, valleys

and pastures in the Laurel Highlands mountains,

the Nemacolin Field Club complex houses one of

the nation’s top sporting clays facilities and is the

gateway to some of the finest fishing streams and

creeks in the eastern United States.

THE SHOOTING ACADEMY

Featuring 35 sporting clay stations spread across

two courses, towers and two five-stand pavilions

with an integrated Wobble Trap Field, the course

can be tailored to challenge everyone from the most

seasoned wing shooter to the novice shooter. We

invite you to spend an hour or afternoon on our

course. First time shooters are guaranteed to break

targets with the help of our National Sporting Clays

Association (NSCA) certified instructors. You will be

amazed at how much your confidence grows with

each shot. With private lessons for both beginners

and advanced shooters, clay shooting is a sport for

the whole family.

ORVIS® FLY FISHING

For anglers of any skill level, the Orvis® Endorsed

Fly Fishing Lodge at the Nemacolin Field Club is in

a class by itself. Anglers can choose from a number

of Pennsylvania waters, including the Youghiogheny

River. Other options include Meadow Run, Dunbar

Creek and Beaver Creek, where browns, brookies

and rainbow trout swim in numbers. From beginners

to experienced anglers, your experience here will be

one of a lifetime!

GUIDED HUNTS

Our newest Field Club amenity, Guided Turkey

Hunts, is now available during the spring and fall.

Enjoy a fully-guided hunt on private property.

UPLAND BIRD HUNTS

From beginner to experienced hunters, our Upland

Bird Hunt’s experienced and professional guides

will accompany you and a hunt dog on 275-acres

of private hunting ground located off-property. The

hunt begins at the Field Club with transportation

provided to the hunt location. We offer a variety

of species including Pheasants and Chukar and

abide by the standards of the Pennsylvania

Game Commission.

AIR RIFLE RANGE

Test your shooting skills at the Air Rifle Range with

stationary clay targets! Catered towards beginners

and children.

ARCHERY

Once the sport of royalty and the ultimate test of

one’s accuracy and aim is now a fun, family activity

that will bring out the competitive spirit in everyone.

ACTIVITIESJEEP® OFF-ROAD DRIVING ACADEMY

What could be more electrifying than taking the

wheel of a Jeep® Rubicon? Perhaps it might be

pushing that Jeep® Rubicon through a series of

muddy ponds, rocky crossings, ruts, logs, steep

climbs and tricky vertical ledges. Our Academy

is here to give you that chance. With instruction

on our challenging courses, drivers will navigate

terrain designed to test any skill level. Choose from

Instructional Trips or Ride-Alongs.

ADVENTURE CENTERNemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Adventure Center,

located at the Sundial Lodge, is the hub of outdoor

activity, adventure and recreation. From weekend

warriors to accomplished athletes, you could spend

a few days alone absorbing all the activities we have

to offer, or you may just want to add a day or two to

your Nemacolin trip! If an outdoor experience is what

you are after, then a visit to our Adventure Center

is a must.

BIKING & HIKING

Explore the Resort on our many property trails. We

have a variety of mountain bikes and children’s bikes

available to rent. Kid trailers, comfort bikes and jogging

strollers are also available.

No matter the weather, fun is in store at Nemacolin’s

Sundial Lodge. Enjoy eight lanes of bowling and

various arcade games for all ages.

CLIMBING WALL

We challenge daredevils to conquer our 50-foot

free-standing Climbing Wall. Don’t worry if you are a

first-timer, the three-sided wall tests beginners as well

as advanced climbers and is great for all fitness levels.

DISC GOLF

Disc Golf is one of those activities that is perfect for

families to enjoy together. It’s just like golf, except

trade your clubs for a frisbee.

DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING

Do you seek adventure? Do you get a rush from

speed and the open air? Then Mother Nature is

calling you to experience our Downhill Mountain Bike

Trail! This man-made course features six obstacles

and welcomes all skill levels.

FALLINGBROOK MINIATURE GOLF

Nemacolin’s beautiful 18-hole miniature golf

course is a staple amongst our Adventure Center

amenities. Fallingbrook Mini Golf Course is beautifully

landscaped with stone, shrubbery and natural flowers.

The focal point is our dramatic waterfall which is

situated in the middle of the course. Challenge family

and friends or your previous game!

FATBIRD CANOPY TOUR

Our Fatbird Canopy Tour offers some exciting

elements – a Burma Bridge, a stationary log, a

swinging log and two zip lines. Plus, a zip down the

Fatbird SuperFlyer is included!

FATBIRD SUPERFLYER

Birds of a feather… well they race together! Nemacolin’s

Fatbird SuperFlyer features over 3,000-feet of dueling

zip lines! Reach speeds of up to 60 mph as you soar

alongside a competing rider, high above the slopes at

Mystic Mountain.

HARDY GIRLS GYMNASIUM

This 8,400-square-foot Olympic caliber facility

features a variety of training equipment that would

be used in the development of future gymnast’s

careers. Guests of all ages may experience the

facility at any skill level. Gymnastic features include:

foam pit, trampoline, two balance beams, uneven

bars, exercise spring floor, parallel bars, adjustable

training high bar, tumble track, vaulting table,

pommel horse, rings, numerous safety landing

mats and training aids, barrels and wedges.

LITTLE TYKES ROPES COURSE

A thrill for well… your little tyke. While Mom, Dad and

the “big” kids take to the 20-foot Ropes Course, your

little one can seek fun of their own. You know they

want to do what you do, so let them. The course

includes four obstacles and a 120-foot zip line.

PAINTBALL

Outdoor Combat Paintball The ultimate heart

pounding, adrenaline rushing experience. Our team

creates organized atmospheres in the wooded hills

for you to enjoy a game with the entire family.

Also a great teambuilding activity.

Target Paintball An extreme-energy, action-packed

game. Target Paintball is available at Quick Draw Alley.

Accuracy is a must as you shoot stationary targets

and practice your sniper skills.

ROPES COURSE

The ultimate in suspended adventure, our elevated

ropes course will test your bravery with nine

obstacles. Once you have it mastered, an exhilarating

250-foot zip line will send you flying through the air…

and off the course. There’s nothing like it!

TENNIS

Play on one of our four outdoor, lighted, omni-turf

tennis courts located just behind Heritage Court or

the Indoor Kidz Pool. Court rentals, tennis equipment

and ball machine rentals are also available.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMSA kid-friendly resort? You bet! Our Children’s

Programs take place out of the Activities Center,

located next to PJ’s Ice Cream & Pizza Parlor. We

offer more fun things to do than your children will

likely have time for – a Kidz Pool, Arcade featuring

Ping-Pong and Games, plus access to our Tennis

Courts and much more.

BABYSITTING

If babysitting is needed, please contact a Nemacolin

Experience Agent to make arrangements. A 24-hour

advance notice is requested.

KIDZ KLUB

Our innovative club for kids ages 4 to 15 offers

both full and half days of supervised activity and

entertainment. Parents can choose to enroll their

children in our Kidz Klub programs for a more

relaxed atmosphere utilizing activities on the resort.

They’ll learn… they’ll play… and, most of all, they’ll

never notice you’re not there!

KIDZ NIGHT OUT

Kidz Klub goes out on the town. Children ages

4 through 15 will enjoy an evening filled with crafts,

swimming, games, mini-golf and movies.

LITTLE TYKES

Kidz Klub for little ones. Our qualified staff will provide

children ages 6 weeks through 4 years with top-rate

care and education. As with Kidz Klub, Little Tykes can

remain with us for either half or full day programs.

WILDLIFE ACADEMYThe Wildlife Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands

Resort is dedicated to providing interactive

entertainment and live animal programs with an

emphasis on education. It is all animals, all the time!

BACKWOODS TRAIL RIDES

Experience the resort’s 2,000 acres the way the

original inhabitants and settlers of the area did, on

horseback.

CARRIAGE RIDE PROPERTY TOURS

Whether it is a cool fall evening or a sunny summer

afternoon, our Carriage Ride Property Tours include a

tour of our outdoor wildlife habitats, and are perfect

for a romantic or fun family activity.

DOG SLEDDING

Dog Sledding at Nemacolin is an experience for

the entire family and is available year-round! Our

exclusive team of sled dogs that call the Wildlife

Academy home are jumping at the chance to give

you an encounter you will never forget.

LOUIE’S AFRICAN TRAIN RIDE

All aboard! The tour will leave the Wildlife Academy

and head out to the Resort’s animal enclosures.

You will see bison, hyenas, tigers, lions, red sheep

and zebras! Louie’s African Train Ride will get you

up-close to Nemacolin’s wildlife family. Guests will

enjoy a story and game along the way as they stop

to feed and meet Louie’s friends.

NURSERY TOURS

This educational tour includes a guided walking

tour of the Wildlife Academy Nursery as well as the

chance to interact with a few of the nursery animals.

PONY RIDES

Pony rides for the little ones are a Wildlife Academy

favorite.

SAFARI TOURS

The Nemacolin Safari Tour is unlike any other zoo

experience! Travel to the outdoor habitats to get

up-close and personal with our wildlife animal family.

Included in the tour is a quick stop by Billy Goat

Mountain to feed the sheep and goats. If that is

too tame for you, head to some of our other exotic

animal enclosures to feed some of these animals. This

educational tour is fun for all ages.

WILDLIFE HABITATS

They are literally around every corner of the 2,000

acres that make up Nemacolin. Hop in your car, on a

bike or walk the trails and visit with animals such as

Rocky, Sugar and Boo Boo the black bears. You’ll be

surprised, we promise.

SNOWSPORTSMYSTIC MOUNTAIN

Winter blues? Treat yourself to a little Mystic

Mountain magic at the Sundial Lodge! Short lift lines,

7 skier-friendly trails and experienced instructors

make for great family fun. Our state-of-the-art

snowmaking system blankets the downhill slopes

and trails – even during milder conditions. We also

offer rental equipment and our professional staff is

always on hand to lend instruction. From December

to March, this winter wonderland offers something

for everyone. So gather the family, grab your

equipment and hit the mountain.

THE YETI’S LAIR TERRAIN PARK

You asked for it… so we delivered. Our terrain park

offers an experience that our skiers and riders

can navigate, while learning the skills necessary

to be able to successfully master more advanced

terrain parks. The park is located on the left side

of Grizzly Run.

SNOW TUBING

Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. You’re about

to experience 800-feet of pure snow-packed

exhilaration - on a rubber tube no less. Sound like a

wild ride? We think so. This is a great way to spend a

snowy afternoon.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING / SNOWSHOEING

Those who prefer low-key adventure should

consider giving cross country skiing or snowshoeing

a go. Our trails offer a peaceful, breathtaking view of

the snow-covered Laurel Highlands.

WINTER DOG SLEDDING

For the ultimate in unexpected experiences, we invite

you to climb aboard one of our sleds. Our team of

sled dogs are raring to pull riders through the resort’s

scenic acres of wooded wonder. No need for snow,

either. During suitable conditions, our dogs can also

pull a four-wheeled Touri cart over bare ground.
