A Startling Fact About Barre
Ever dream of being a ballet
dancer? I know I did. I used to
think Barre exercises were just
for ballerinas. Not so! Forget
those pictures and movies
showing ballet dancers at the
Barre. Non-dancers can get a super effective and fun workout by
working at the Barre.
You definitely do not have to be a dancer (but you can pretend if
you want) to experience the physical benefits of exercising at the
Barre. Barre work out programs take traditional ballet exercises
and transform them into a program for everyone at all fitness
levels. These exercises target the hips, inner thighs, hamstring
muscles and buttocks, as well as build upper body strength and
increased flexibility. I don’t know about you, but those are some
of my biggest target areas and fitness goals.
The Barre itself is used for balance, stability and support. By
holding on to the barre with a light grip, you can focus on
isolating specific muscle groups.
Barre exercises typically include both slow and fast exercises.
Slow movements stretch and warm up the muscles, while the
faster exercises help strengthen various muscle groups. As you
would expect, each barre exercise has a specific purpose, such as
strengthening the feet, increasing your range of extension,
refining your balance, and improving flexibility. The proper
placement of the hands and feet, as well as posture is
emphasized in all exercises.

One of the major benefits of Barre exercises is improved balance.
If you’re not a dancer, you may think that’s not all so important.
But by training to develop greater balance, you will realize
noticeable improvements in your coordination, athletic skill, and
posture. That means you‘ll experience fewer injuries and greater
stability.
Incorporating the Barre into your fitness program provides so
many benefits. Just imagine, a dancer’s body with grace and
amazing posture. This sure sounds good to me. Not only balance,
strength and flexibility – but a little self improvement in your self
esteem as well.
Interested in losing some weight? That is another benefit from
exercising at the Barre. Now this is no mystery. Building arm and
leg muscles, toning abdominals and strengthening back muscles
– all while promoting long and lean muscle development for a
longer and leaner physique – burns calories and fat. And with the
improved strength and flexibility the barre brings, you will
become more active naturally, which adds to a higher-calorie-
burning lifestyle.
The multiple benefits from Barre exercises are making it one of
the ever-increasingly popular work outs in fitness centers and
health clubs all over America. LAB5 Fitness has a great schedule
