In the ancient time, in one of the farcountry, there was a ruler whodidnt used to like old people. Heused to say: the old arent able to

work rather they just sit, eat, andrest, and other than them work,labor, and produce... Therefore, Idecidedtoexpelthemallfromthecountry.

So,thepeopleofthecountrycarriedouttheorderoftheruleroutoffearfrom his severe punishment.However,a youngbravesmartmanwhosenameisBaasemdidnotpayattention to the order of the ruler

and his heart did not consent toexpellinghisfather.Hehidhiminasecret place in the house. Thesolders of the ruler came to thevillage a few times. They searchedfor the old people but they neverfoundhisoldfather.

Andtherulerhadabeautifuldaughter.Hewanted to give her in marriage but hewanted to choose the smartest youngmaninthecountryforher.So,theyoung

men learned of the news and theystartedtogotothepalaceoftheruler.The ruler gathered them and said tothem:Iwillgivemydaughterinmarriagewith him who knows the answers tothree questions. Leave for now.However, you must gather here in the

palacetomorrowbeforeFajrinorderforme to see who amongst you is able toknowthetimeofsunrisebeforeothers.

So, Baasem returned to his father in thehouse and sought his advice. Thus, theold father said: This is not a difficult

matter.Tomorrow,allyoungmenwouldlook at the direction of the east.However, you must turn around to theoppositesideandlookatthehighestpickfromthepicksofthemountains.Inthisway,youwouldbeabletoseethelightofthesunbeforeeveryone.

Becauseitwillfirstshineonthepickof the mountain. Therefore, youwill announce the sunrise beforethem.

So, Baasem did what his old fathertoldhim.However,everyonemadefunofhimwhentheysaythatheislookingattheoppositedirectionoftheplacefromwhichthesunrises.

Inspiteofthatwhenthefirstrayofred light appeared on the pick ofthe high mountain, Baasemshouted before everyone: (O mymaster!Thesunisinitswaytotherisethisverymoment).

Andafterfewseconds,thesunrose.The ruler was surprised fromBaasemsbrightness.Therefore,hementioned his second question tothe present young men at the

palace.

Therulersaid:whofromamongstyouis able to attend the palacetomorrow not barefooted norwearingshoe.

Baasem went to his old father andsought his advice. The father said:Thismatterissimplealso.Itisuponyou,Omyson,toremovethesoleofyourshoe.Andyoushouldwearthe

shoe without sole. And in this way,youwontbebarefootednorwouldyoubewearingshoe.

Thus, Baasem attended the palacewearing shoe without sole. Theappearance of other young men

werefunny.Someofthemworetornapartsocksfromwhichthefingersofthefeetcameoutwhileothersworeshoesfilledwithholes.Nonetheless,everyone made fun of Baasem asthey lookat himwhile he is wearing

hisshoe.

However, when he raised his feet, itbecame clear to the attendees thathe was standing on the groundbarefooteddespitethefactthatheis

wearingtheshoe.Therulerbecamehappy from his smartness and hisgoodtrick.

The ruler said: You are brilliant OBaasem. You have carried out the

request completely. Thereafter, theruler announced his third and lastrequest. Thus, he said: You mustcometothepalacetomorrowwhileyoudecoratedyourclotheswiththebestflower.

Baasem left for home. While on theway,hestartedtocollectallthathesaw from beautiful flowers. Hegathered jasmine and yaasmeenflowers and some roses. Thereafter,he went to his father to seek the

advice.

The old father said: Listen O my son,the grasses were in the world for along time. I do not know anythingbetter than the spike of the wheat.

Also, there are no seeds morebeneficial than the seeds of wheat.Plus, there is no work morehonorable than the farming of thewheat.Whatsmore,thereisnosmellbetterthanthefreshbreadtakenout

fromthestove.Takeaspikeofwheatfrom the field and attach it on yourchestandputyourtrustinAllah.

So,Baasemdidwhathisfatheradvisedhim with. The young men gatheredon the gate of the palace as if the

gardens of the world moved there,various colored and smelling flowersdecorated the chest of the youngmen. The young men made fun ofBaasem as usual and laughed at hiswheats spike, which he put on his

chest.

However,therulerlookedateveryonethen called on the person with thespike(ofwheat).Andhesaid:IndeedOBaasemyoutrulybroughtthebest

of the flowers of the world. And inthisway,youansweredmyquestionswith answers that show yoursmartness and good thinking. Youdeserve that I marry my onlydaughterwithyou.However,atfirst

tell me from where did you attainsuchwisdomwhileyouareyounginage?

Thus, Baasem went toward the rulerwith braveness and narrated hisstory with his old father. The ruler

heard Baasems talk and wastouchedbyit.Asaresult,helearnedthat he made a mistake when heorderedwiththeexpellingoftheoldpeople. So, he brought them backandadvisedthepeopletobegoodto

theirfathers.

Ageisnotanumberonly.Donotsaythistosomeoneolderthanyouever. Because they have learnedmuch as they grew up. The older

one is from you, the more oneknows from you in one aspect ortheother.

Allah has indeed preferredsomeone older than you to beyourleaderinthePrayerthe2ndpillar of Islam after the

knowledgeoftheQuraan.Doyouthink Allah has done this in vain?ByAllah!NEVER.

So, Fear Allah and safe guard therightsofthoseolderthanyou.
