roving back and forth, trying to figure out a way to solve the problem. In the evening, he was sitting at a park thinking about the solution when a gentleman (an agile consultant by profession) approached him enquiring about the reason for his worry.

The upset CEO, unaware that the gentleman was an Agile Consultant, started to explain about the losses he was incurring in his business owing to the poor quality of the product his company was developing.

Then the gentlemen introduced himself revealing his profession and stated that there definitely is a solution for the CEO’s woes.

The Agile Consultant suggested he can help the CEO in bringing the Agile Mindset to his organization so that the problems will cease to exist. But this mindset cannot be established overnight. This is an incremental approach and he can see the benefits of the Agile Mindset gradually. CEO was really curious to know about its benefits.

After listening to the benefits of the Agile Mindset, the CEO was relaxed and offered the Agile consultant to join his organization for the transformation. Consultant agreed to his proposal and went to his office the very next day to start the mission.

The Agile consultant understood the issues by having discussions with the various stakeholders and departments of the company. He came up with a transformation plan which was built on the incremental phase wise approach. The plan was clearly defined with the tasks and the corresponding definition of done for each task. The plan was built in such a way that it would show the immediate benefits and also had the strategy to implement long-term wins. To implement the plan, the Agile Consultant asked the CEO and the company leadership for support. He clearly communicated that the transformation will follow a TOP-DOWN approach instead of BOTTOM-UP. Everybody agreed to the suggestion and the transformation commenced there. Gradually the Agile consultant was able to show the positive results to the CEO. Happy ending!
