MBA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

According to the Companies ACT 2013 passed by the Government of India and in effect since st1 April, 2014 defines the CSR Law. According, to Section 135 and Schedule VII of the

Companies Act, CSR Law is applicable on companies with the following threshold limit. a. Net worth of the company to be INR 500 crore or more; b. Turnover of the company to be INR 1000 crore or more; c. Net profit of the company to be INR 5 crore or mored. The companies have to spend 2% of their Net Profits in CSR activities.

• Estimates indicate that CSR commitments from companies can amount to as much as INR 50,000 crores

• The companies coming under the aforementioned ambit are on hiring spree but facing a challenge of professionally trained CSR Personals.

• Nearly, more than 8000 companies fall in this purview and each need to hire minimum 5 people incremental on the basis of their operations. The CSR spending has been on the rise with 28% increase in CSR spend financial year 2016.

• The MBA in CSR Students at MIT –WPU, therefore aims to provide specialist training and develops the necessary skill sets for CSR Executives who are working in the sector or those who are seeking a professional career in the industry.
