A T O M E OF W I C K E D T H I N G S

Those who turn from the light often find themselves cast in the shadow. Called by various foul names, these forsaken few are the champions of malice. They embody the sinful ways of their patron gods or the fiends they serve. They are often already great warriors, approached by envoys from the darkness. They are secluded by wicked words and paid in unholy things. For his boon, an antipaladin is given what his heart desires. Some serve for power and others from wealth. Some antipaladins even claim status as their payment. Whatever the reason, these champions of darkness are often the right hand man of powerful clerics or leaders of wicked cults. Evil clerics, inquisitors, and even the occasional fighter who reveres an evil deity make excellent antipaladins. The path to power is as varied as it is seductive however. Paladins who fall to the darkness are far and few between but the result is almost always magnificent. Within the pages of this guide, you will find new options for the antipaladin base class presented in the Pathfinder Advanced Players Guide.

Antipaladins as a Base Class:The Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide details how to play an antipaladin as an alternate to the Paladin base class in Chapter 3. This guide assumes that the wickedness that lays dormant in the hearts of men can be traced to the roots of all villains. For the purposes of this guide, please regard the antipaladin as a base class.

Favored Class Options:Chapter 1 of the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide introduced alternative benefits for members of a race that take a certain class as their favored class. Normally, the benefit of having a favored class is simply that your character gains one extra hit point or one extra skill rank each time he or she gains a level in that class. Below, you will find alternative options for that favored class bonus for antipaladins!

DwarfGrudges run deep in dwarven blood and a slight is never forgotten. Dwarf antipaladins add +1/2 to all Knowledge checks against a target that the dwarf has a grudge against. A grudge is defined as anyone who has seriously offended the dwarf in any serious fashion. (Killed a family member, stole a fortune, ect)

ElfOld secrets and old gods die hard. Elves, swayed by the call of the older times, sometimes fall to the secrets they guard. Elf antipaladins always treat knowledge (history) as a class skill.

Half-ElfBelonging to no society, half-elves often find themselves lured to the dark ways of the antipaladin. A half-elf antipaladin adds one to the number of touch of corruptions they can use per day.

Half-OrcRage and violence calls to the orcish blood in these half breeds and can lead them to the path of the antipaladin. Half-Orc antipaladins always treat intimidate as a class skill.

HumanThe heart of man is most susceptible to corruption some say. Perpetually seeking a better life, humans are apt to explore all options... especially shortcuts. Human antipaladins add one to the number of touch of corruptions they can use per day.

Alternate Class Features:The following is a series of alternate class features to those described in Chapter 2 of the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide.

Black KnightWhere once chivalry flourished, now only deceit festers. Donning the blackened armor of a black

knight is a choice, not a privilege. Concealing one's identity for fear of reprisal is the anti-thesis of chivalry. Many see this cowardice as unforgivable. A man should be able to look into the eyes of the man who will kill him. A black knight conceals his identity and claims victory at any cost. They have no qualms about using ANY means necessary to win...

Guile (Ex):A black knight knows no shame. He fights dirty and revels in it! The black knight gains the sneak attack ability (as described in Chapter 3 of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook). This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every time the black knight would normally gain an additional use of smite good. Additionally, a black knight can use this ability against any good aligned creatures he strikes, even if he is not flanking them or they are not flat footed. This ability replaces the smite good class feature.

Black Heart (Ex):At 3rd level, black knights are trained in the use of poison. They have no chance of poisoning themselves accidentally when applying a poison to a weapon. At 10th level, the black knight may apply two doses of the same poison to a weapon at once. This means the duration of the poison is extended by 50% and the save difficulty is increased by 2. This ability replaces the plague bringer class feature.

Crypt Blood (Sp):Upon reaching 5th level, a wrath reaper sinks lower into the grave. This manifests itself as a taint on the wrath reapers soul. Still... it draws power from this pain. In addition, you must select one of the following taints at 5th level and every 3 levels after that. This ability replaces the fiendish boon class feature.

•Unseeing Eyes: You gain light sensitivity, but gain darkvision 60ft. If you already posses darkvision, it's range is increased by 60 feet. Your eyes take on an unnatural and somewhat disturbing appearance.

• Zombie: You gain an immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms) but you speech becomes slow and awkward. Additionally, the wrath reaper's base land speed is reduced by 10ft. You must be at least 10th level to take this taint.• Tireless: No longer do you need to breathe, eat, or sleep. (You are not immune to these effects however, you simply do no need to do them) You are permanently fatigued as a result. You do not suffer the normal -2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity if you decide to rest for 8 hours. (Though you no longer HAVE to sleep, it does provide you with a bit of respite.)

• Lost Soul: You can be healed by negative energy (such as an inflict spell) but take damage from positive energy.

• Cannibal: You can eat the flesh of a grappled opponent. If you establish or maintains a pin, you can elect to consume some of the opponent's flesh. This deals 1d4 points of Constitution damage. You are healed for an amount of health equal to your Constitution modifier for each round you consume flesh. You MUST consume enough flesh each week to equal your constitution score in this manner or you take 1d2 points of Constitution drain. For each subsequent week without the required amount of flesh, you lose an additional one point of Constitution. (Week two without flesh deals 1d2+1 points of Constitution drain.) • One Foot In The Grave: You gain DR equal to half your wrath reaper level (minimum of 1). However, this comes at a cost. You are immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points.

• Cursed: You may cast bestow curse as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to your Charisma modifier using your antipaladin level as your caster level. When you use this spell-like ability, the spell is also cast on you. Should you remove the curse, it is also removed on your target (and vice versa). You must be at least 10th level before selecting this taint.

Disciple of Discord

While some paladins fall from grace by staining their honor with evil act. Others find themselves a servants of chaos. Many eventually find fault with the status quo, or the order that binds them. Tossing off their shackles, they join the fiery revolt against order. Still other have always felt the sway of chaos and will serve a chaotic patron to the very end. Whatever their reason, a disciples of discord is anarchy incarnate. You will see their face in the fires of a revolution one night, then when next you meet they may be championing some completely different cause with the intent of bringing the system down.

Anarchist:The requirement for playing a disciple of discord is a Chaotic Neutral alignment. They must remain objective and detached from any discernible organizations for extended periods of time.

The Shifting Aura of Chaos (Ex):A disciple of discord's alignment detects as as Good, Evil or Neutral, but always reads as Chaotic. The disciple of discord can change how his alignment appears as a free action. This ability replaces aura of evil class feature.

Page 7: A Tome of Wicked Thingsthe-eye.eu/public/Books/retrowith.in/Pathfinder... · clerics or leaders of wicked cults. Evil clerics, inquisitors, and even the occasional fighter who reveres

Detect Lawful (Sp):A disciple of discord can use detect law at will, as the spell. A disciple of discord can, as a move action, concentrate on a single item or individual within 60 feet and determine if it is lawful, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, the disciple of discord does not detect law in any other object or individual within range. This replaces the detect good class feature.

Smite Lawful (Su):A disciple of discord can use the smite good ability (as described in Chapter 2 of the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide), but instead of good aligned creatures, the disciple of discord can only affect lawfully aligned creatures with this ability. Any other antipaladin class feature or spell that would normally apply to smite good apply to this ability instead. This replaces the smite good class feature.

Insanity Defense (Ex):At 2nd level, the powers of chaos have invaded the very mind of the disciple of discord. While this loosens his grip on reality, it offers him an indifference to pain. A disciple of discord gains +3 hit points. For every Hit Die he possess beyond 3, he gains an additional +1 hit point as though from the Toughness feat. If he has more than 3 Hit Dice, he gains +1 hit points whenever he gains a Hit Die (such as when he gains a level). In return, the disciple of discord develops a phobia against one creature type (he draws from the same list as the ranger's favored enemies in Chapter 3 of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook) of his choice. He suffers -2 penalty to saving throws, attack rolls, and Charisma-based skill and ability checks against that creature type. The selected creature type gains a +2 morale bonus to their AC and saving against the disciple of discord. Creatures that share attributes with or those that resemble the selected creature type also trigger the phobia. This replaces the plague bringer class feature.

Aura of Chaos (Su):At 14th level, a disciple of discord's weapons are treated as chaotic-aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. Any attack made against an enemy within 10 feet of the disciple of discord is treated as chaotic-aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. This ability functions only while the disciple of discord is conscious, not if he is unconscious or dead. This ability replaces the aura of sin class feature.

Call Infernal Ally (Sp):At 8th level, an infernal champion can call upon his deity for aid. This generally takes the form of a powerful servant. This allows the infernal champion to cast lesser planar ally once per week as a spell-like ability without having to pay the material component cost or the servant (for reasonable tasks). At 12th level, this improves to planar ally and at 16th level, this improves to greater planar ally. The infernal champion’s caster level for this effect is equal to its class level. An infernal champion can only call evil outsiders. This ability replaces the aura of despair class feature.
