The Niles-Buchanan Relay For Life was once again a great success,

registering 31 teams with 334 participants. The event, held on July 19th

and 20th, raised a total of $71,643.66 for the American Cancer Society.

Hope Community Church had a strong presence at the event and

provided delicious food and cool beverages for the crowd. This year’s

Relay was opened in prayer by our very own Pastor Mike and this was

the first time the Niles-Buchanan Relay was opened in prayer. Praise God! One of the best parts of the

weekend was that God’s presence was felt all over the Niles High School track. Team Hope was

recognized for all that we do at the Relay, and we won the honor of winning the "Best T-Shirt". Hope also

earned the Platinum Award by raising $8,253.63. A great big THANK YOU to everyone who participated

in this year’s event and helped to show our community God's love.

The Women of Hope will have two options for Bible study this fall, “Children of the Day" by Beth Moore. During this

nine week study of I and II Thessalonians, you'll learn how to let go of past mistakes and discover your

circumstances are not coincidental - God's timing is impeccable! Whether you're facing family crises, medical

diagnoses, relationship troubles, doubts, or fears, you'll come away encouraged that even though it may not feel

that way, you are exactly where Christ wants you to be! This study meets on Monday nights at 6:30pm, Tuesday

nights at 6:45 pm and Wednesday afternoons at 1:00pm beginning September 22/23/24. Plan on five days of

homework each week. The cost of the participant's guide is $16.00. Sign up today at the Connection Center.

"1 & 2 Thessalonians: How Can I Be Sure?" When you are suffering, do you wonder if God has forgotten you? Would

you like to be sure that your life is pleasing to the Lord? At times we all feel anxious and insecure about life - and

about our faith. The Thessalonians were asking these questions, and Paul wrote 1 & 2 Thessalonians to help them

find assurance. They can help you be certain as well. This traditional study meets on Tuesday nights at 6:45pm. The

cost of the participant's guide is $6.00. Sign up today at the Connection Center.

    Women’s Fest Update

Over the past 11 years we have had some fantastic guest speakers, and have provided

workshops in just about every topic imaginable from crafting to spiritual growth. Each year

a dedicated group of women have poured their heart and soul into the planning of this event

and we hope that those of you who have attended this special day in the past were blessed

and refreshed. Women’s Fest, as we have known it, needs a face lift. As our church grows

and is expanding in new directions, the Women’s Fest Committee also sees the need for

something different for the women of Hope. It was not an easy decision for the committee to

make, nor was it made lightly or hastily. We realize that this event has run its course and it is

time to bid farewell to Women’s Fest. We know God has a better plan in mind! With that

said, there will be no Women’s Fest 2014! We are working on ideas and plans for 2015 and

we’d love to hear your suggestions or ideas. Most importantly of all, we need you all to pray
