Highlights This Year

Rewards & IncentivesAs a teacher, I believe strongly in positive reinforcement. I constantly reward students for coming to school prepared and ready to learn. I provide many opportunities for students to earn incentives such as;

• Purple raffle tickets• Timberwolf tickets• Treats• Verbal praise• Recognition at assemblies

Consequences

If more than 6 tickets are pulled within the 6 week behavior tracking period, a student will not participate in the 5th Grade Behavior Celebration.

Behavior Contract- In the spring, all students will be on a behavior contract using a point system. They must maintain a certain amount of points to attend the Scandia field trip as well as participate in other end of the year activities. Details will be handed out at a later time.

Consequences

I want your child to be well-rounded. It is not my intention to give your child a lot of homework. Please let me know if they are spending more than an hour per night.

Students will be given a Homework Reminder at the beginning of the week. It is their responsibility to record the assignments on a nightly basis and complete the work as needed.

Please ensure your child is reading every night and initial the Homework Reminder.

Daily: Read for 30 minutes ELA Math S.S./Science Sign HW reminder

Weekly: Geography Study spelling, vocabulary, roots as

needed

Homework Expectations

Weekly Friday Folders with graded work to keep at home

Please look at all grades on ESPRI regularly and fill out the grade check sheet when it comes home in the Friday folder.

Fill out the student progress report and return on Mondays. (Bottom of HW cover)

Look for behavior tickets that may have been earned. They will be stapled to the HW. (Initial nightly)
