A UNIVERSITY WITH POTENTIAL A UNIVERSITY WITH POTENTIAL Excellent scientific staff, modern laboratories, state-of-the-art teaching aids and the highest teaching standards. THE SCIENTIFIC POTENTIAL DIVERSE AND MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE of our University is connected with our staff of over 850 academic teachers, including 151 employees with the scientific title of professors. All our Faculties are entitled to confer doctoral degrees, and seven of them may confer post-doctoral degrees, while the Faculty of Agronomy and Bioengineering has both these authorities in two disciplines. in the form of lecture halls, laboratories and workrooms is used for teaching as well as scientific and research purposes. Our University has rich library collections, available on-line. Our University may boast of numerous scientific publications, which have gained recognition among experts. THE EXPERIMENTAL AND RESEARCH BASE in the form of 12 experimental farms and stations, including 8 agricultural, 1 with the agricultural and pomological in profile and 3 forestry stations. These facilities offer a platform for research, teaching and practice to meet and cooperate. Selected achievements: - pioneering studies on DNA for diagnostic purposes conducted by Prof. R. S³omski, who was the first in Poland to study DNA using DNA amplification by PCR and by genetic fingerprinting - studies in biotechnologies, which have resulted in nine patent applications in Poland and two such applications in the USA - pioneering studies on diagnostic methods concerning nutrition and watering requirements of trees conducted by Prof. E. Pacholak - unique studies by Prof. W. Grajek on bioactive food, having probiotic properties.
