System ArchitectureAs technology increases and investigative meth-ods improve, policing has turned to a new era

referred to as professional based policing. As the world clinches on the rapid increase in advancement and use of technology, Uganda Police Force still de-lays behind in implementing the new technologies in particular at the Criminal Investigation and Intelli-gence Directorate- Kibuli. Several problems includ-ing; insufficient budget funding, long man hours to investigate crime cases, mistakes made in decisions and judgment, insufficient compiled data, manual filing system used to store, retrieve, update cases and failure to cross reference against similar cases, suspects identified in similar cases and collected evi-dence are faced with most police stations in Ugnada.

Current operations and handling of crime cases at Uganda Police Force delay acquisition of timely

incriminating evidence due to use of poor mecha-nisms in data collection, storage, retrieval and cross referencing.

For professional based policing; a web based, Ugan-da Police Force Crime Case management system

was developed to support police officers in the man-agement of crime cases, storage and retrieval of com-plainants’ and offenders’ information as well as to fol-low up the case status and keep track of information concerning crime cases in the Uganda Police Force.

Improved operational performance through use of innovative technologies, processes & insights.

Proper tracking of criminal record background through use of cross referencing module.

Capable of handling huge numbers of crime cases faster & easily.

Efficient information management.

A base for obtaining actionable information, condat-ing event data, integrating it to provide one view of

truth.

It enables one to learn, understand & deal with com-plex crime case related situations.

Easily avail information to allow truly informed de-cision making at both tactical & strategic levels.

It enhances data collection, processing, organizing, storage & retrieval.

Faster crime case monitoring, follow up & view of the case statuses.

Increased crime case load analysis, filtering and clearance.
