Leon McCawley, piano

Leon McCawley is one of Britain’s foremost pianists and has forged a remarkable career since winning first prize in the 1993 International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna and second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition at age nineteen.

Gabriel Fauré wrote some of the most tuneful music to come out of France. Over seven concerts we examine many aspects of his charming and alluring music.

A wonderful group of artists has been assembled for this project including the brilliant Minguet and Navarra String Quartets, singers Anna Grevelius and Andrew Kennedy and the brilliant National Youth Choir of Scotland who will give a performance of Fauré’s unforgettable Requiem in the beautiful surroundings of St John’s Kirk.
