1. SynopsisOne day while a wise man was sitting by the beach, he heard some one quarrelling at a
food stall nearby. When he walked over, he saw many people crowding around two men. A fat
man was hitting a poor old man. Nobody stopped the fat man. he wise man hold the fat mans
hand and asked why the fat man was hitting the old man. he fat man who was the owner of the
stall said that the poor old man was trying to leave with out paying. he wise man asked how
much the old man must pay. he old man replied that he did not eat anything. he poor old man
said that he had not enough money to eat so he !ust waited hoping that he could get some
leftovers. "ut the greed fat man wanted the poor old man to pay for the poor old man seasoned
his cake with the smell of the food from the kitchen. At last , the wise man used his wisdom to
solve the argument.
2. Elements of the storyPlot summary
An old man sat at a food stall and ate a piece of cake.
he stall keeper asked him to pay, but the old man refused.
#e said he did not buy any food from the stall. $o he did not have to pay for anything.
hen the stall keeper beat the old man.
A wise man saw this. #e was angry.
he stall keeper said the old man seasoned%the cake with the smell of his food before eating
it.
he wise man then asked the old man for some coin.#e shook the coins hard near the stall keeper&s car.
he stall keeper heard the !ingling% of the coins.
hen the wise man gave the coins back to the old man.
he stall keeper was angry. #e wanted the coins.
he wise man e'plained% that the old man only en!oyed the smell of the
stall keeper&s food. $o, the stall keeper only needed to hear the sound of the old
man&s money.
he customers agreed that this was fair.
he wise man had solved the problem cleverly.
Settinghis story happened at a stall one day near a beach.
