Rev. Tom Rives Pastor A Word from Pastor Tom….. This is our second online edition of the Good News Letter. We are now publishing it once a quarter online and printing a limited number for those who do not have internet access. The printed copies are available at the Connection Center. We also have an email notification list to alert everyone as to when the newest edition is available online. You can turn in your email address at the Connection Center or at the Church Office if you want to be added to that notification list. The upcoming quarter (May-July) is packed full of special events, exciting ministry opportunities and programming for all ages. May is family month at CBC and we recognize many different segments of our families. It is Senior Saints Day on May 6th and we recognize our latest Senior Saints in the morning service and follow that with a luncheon to honor all our seniors. On May 13th we have our Parent/Child Dedication as part of our morning service. Then on May 20th we honor our High School Graduates in the morning service and follow it with a luncheon for them and their parents. That evening our Children’s Choirs present their Spring Musical. On May 27th we have our Memorial Service honoring those who have lost their lives in service of our country and a special Slide Presentation remembering all of our members who have gone on to be with the Lord. The month concludes with our Music and Missions Awards Night on May 30th. June kicks-off with Anniversary Sunday featuring our Luncheon together and the Anniversary Golf Tournament. Children’s Camp happens the week of June 18th. July starts with a special Patriotic Service on July 1st and our Picnic on July 4th. Then Vacation Bible School takes place July 15-19 followed by our Mission Project in Alabama beginning July 22nd. As I said, there are many opportunities for each of us to be involved during this next quarter. Let me close my article by sharing my heart about the “Summer Mission Project”. It was my desire to provide a mission opportunity that almost everyone could be involved in. Christian Missions Unlimited (we have been with them in Brazil) in coordination with Common Ground Ministries of Montgomery, AL have provided that opportunity for us. We will be staying at “Chuck’s House” in Hope Hull and doing construction and repairs on houses in Montgomery. There is also a possibility of us doing some lighter clean up work at First Southern Baptist Church of Hope Hull. Anyone 14 and older will be able to participate in the inner-city project in Montgomery and younger Middle School students will be able to participate as well, if one or both parents are involved. This is a great opportunity for us to have families all go on a mission project together (3 families are already committed). Thank you CBC for being a Mission Giving church. Now, even more of us have a chance to be a part of a Mission Going church. Yours in Christ, “to be a part of a Mission Going church.”
