A Word from Suna
Our motto:
“Unite, inspire and prosper.”
The idea of hosting this Festival is completely unexpected. Originally it was only supposed to be a concert with my beloved friend, Kirtley Leigh, director of Paradise Concert Series, and a little dance party afterwards. Just like the one that one of our businesses, Sunny Ale Music Education hosted last year for Christmas. Then within our network in dance, music, businesses and what else,.the event escalated by itself into a festival.
As with the first time for everything, our team is learning every step of the way as we go. It is not easy yet so enjoyable working with different people, deepening our community connections and experiencing everything, breathing in every second of it. I am watching this project grow as a baby is growing, and I am simply the mother on the side to nurture, love and assist.
Our ultimate goal is to have a hub in Cairns, The Cultural Centre Pty Ltd, operating the four businesses we already have in place, hold this Festival every year, bring international, national and local Maestros, musicians, dancers, and artists here to Cairns, support local cultural facilities, give out funding and scholarship to artists, link with local businesses and connect with corporates.
We are making history with every step – be a part of it.
Thank you.

Blue Mango Salsa Blue Mango Salsa is a monthly salsa and bachata social dance function held at Holiday Inn, Esplanade, Cairns. It started about 2 years ago to give people a place to regularly meet to dance salsa and bachata and catch up with friends. As a regular dancer in the salsa scene here in Cairns Michael Ringer wanted to help provide a place free of charge where people could meet and have fun dancing on a Sunday afternoon. Blue Mango Salsa also provides a regular opportunity for people to practice what they learn in the dance schools. Of course, 'at the end of the day', it's all about fun. Michael researches new salsa music and looks at what the salsa dj's are playing in places like New York and LA to ensure the music is current and enjoyable. Blue Mango Salsa is held on the third Sunday afternoon of every month and compliments the other salsa venues in Cairns, being The Pier Bar on Thursday nights and Alessandro's on the first Sunday of the month. Blue Mango Salsa is a friendly, fun afternoon of latin dancing and everyone is welcome.
