To a total of 2,286 unique individuals, BACN provided:

4,937 visits to the pantry andrecipients of senior bags

GED, Job Readiness and Computer Lab:

Help for 176 seeking their GED or assistance with employment opportunities

Help for 48 households finding themselves with unique financial needs

In 2020:• Volunteer labor saved BACN $170,891

• BACN’s food impact on the community (purchased and in-kind) was $496,616

• BACN’s clothing impact on the community (in-kind) was $99,630

Did you know that in 2020?• BACN welcomed 138 new households.

• 29% of those served by BACN were children ages infant through 17.

• BACN provided $11,141 worth of direct financial assistance to Neighbors, and were able to secure partner help for 121 households.

• Only 25% of those served by BACN had health insurance.

• 70% of BACN Neighbors came from Benzie County, and 30% from Manistee County.

• Only 34% of Neighbors (non-seniors) served by BACN held high school diplomas. This is why we offer a brighter future through the GED Program, a partnership through Northwest Michigan Works!

• Five students were able to complete their GED requirements despite the pandemic.

VolunteersOur volunteers are the face of BACN to our Neighbors—even when the “face” must be on the phone or behind a mask. This year in particular, people needed to hear kindness in the voices of others, and our volunteers provided that in spades. We cannot thank enough those who showed up and carried on, both weekly and during food drives. AND…we thank those who wanted to be here and could not. It was very difficult for so many to remain home and not see friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone safely back!

In-KindThe non-monetary gifts of goods and time are half of BACN’s impact to the community. We thank all who called and asked how they could help.
