One Man's Extraordinary 30-Year Journey to Communicate an Overwhelming Vision of God

BOSTON, MA (Seraphimedia) July 4, 2005 -- From the time when he was a young boy and an only child, D.S. Fine always had a questing, questioning spirit.

His grandmother, Augusta "Goldie" Fine, was found nude in bed strangled to death, with a stocking around her neck, in Norwood, Massachusetts, on a dark morning in April of 1964.

Fine's parents, at first, tried to shield him from this shocking and traumatic revelation for a time; but realized that the truth [except for the unpublicized fact that Mrs. Fine was discovered unclothed] would soon be widely-known, -- since it had immediately become front-page news.

It happened during the time that the infamous Boston Strangler was still at large, terrorizing the entire metropolitan area.

The death was never completely solved since there was, apparently, a lack of evidence and no signs of forced entry into (Mr. &) Mrs. Fine's modest, first-floor apartment.

However, since she had been hospitalized many times for treatment of the severe skin condition known as psoriasis, and suffering with concurrent depression, -- it was later determined by police to be "a suicide."

Although this incident is never explicitly mentioned in his pseudonymously-written book entitled: "Godyssey: A Young Man's Proof of God's Existence," -- D.S. Fine relates that this life-shattering event became the starting point on his quest to find God. And to try to understand why life often involves experiencing such overpowering tragedies.

"Following her death, my father, -- who suffered tremendously with psoriasis as well, -- had a total nervous beakdown and subsequently lived under a dark cloud of depression for the rest of his life," recalls Fine.

"And, while I may have been too young to consciously grasp and feel the enormity of what was occurring, I did absorb the full impact of seeing my father at the kitchen table, crying for days and days."

"Not only was it impossible for anyone to believe that my grandmother killed herself in such an unlikely and unthinkable manner, -- but the investigation abruptly ceased without any credible explanation, which was an even greater indignity to our family," he adds.

Out of a sense of mission, and identification with his father, Fine began an inner search to find meaning in such heartbreaking, external circumstances, -- leading to his own "nervous breakthrough" in September of 1974, when he was 2 days shy of his 20th birthday.

After losing an incredible 20 days of sleep, "while in the midst of Awakening," Fine reports that he directly encountered God "one-to-One and face-to-Face."

What is even more electrifying is the fact that Fine's initial website, www.Godyssey.org, containing excerpts from "Godyssey" and a testimonial of his astounding "upliftment" by a personification of the Spirit of Christ, -- was first published via the internet only 30 minutes prior to the World Trade Center Attack on September 11, 2001.

He believes he was Divinely guided in this endeavor, especially since he was inspired to acquire the domain rights to 5 websites only one day beforehand, on September 10th.

Why does Fine believe that this man, who appears on videotape for approximately 20 seconds, could actually be Jesus Christ?

"Because I was literally, physically & spiritually, lifted up at the very moment I was about to perish. And because the first instant I saw Him on the video, it was an immediate recognition of Divinity that had me falling to my knees, in tears of joy and gratitude."

"In that same moment," continues Fine, "I had the spiritual vision of an innocent child, without any preconceptions whatsoever as to what or whom I was looking at. I knew I was seeing my Savior and experiencing my Salvation."

Does Fine think others will see Christ as he has?

"It seems to be a prevalent phenomenon, throughout history, that Christ comes to individuals in the form that they are able to accept," he says.

"And that what I have personally experienced could be "tailiored" to fit another person, depending upon their own beliefs. Love, healing, redemption or salvation comes in whatever form is needed by an individual. For example, a Native American might experience Him as a Spirtual Warrior, a Hindu might see Him as a Yogi, a child might encounter Christ as a kind helper or Angel."

"Just as the concept of God can be personified by one Being, and can be imagined as "viewable" from many unique perspectives. -- As exemplified by a Person who is sitting in the center of a room, surrounded by a circle of many others. -- Each individual view of the Person in the center is only partial."

"To have the full picture, we need to combine ALL viewpoints into One, four-dimensional, space-time, holographic or 'Holy-graphic' image," Fine suggests.

But, will the world ever see him, together, as prophesied in the Bible, in the living form of one particular Man?

He firmly believes that "Christ is alive within us, ever-present amongst us; yet, only upon re-Awakening will we regain our collective Vision to be able to directly perceive and fathom the Love that continually envelopes, braces and embraces us."

"It is precisely because we see ourselves as the only gods existent that we presently see life "through a glass darkly" and have created a universal blind spot to the true God - and to true Good."

Is it possible for people to change "for good," without undergoing their own profoundly intense and painful life-traumas, such as Fine has experienced?

"Yes," he responds, "when we have opened our hearts and minds, erasing all boundaries of division, while shifting the narrow focus, -- from our mortal, egocentric, violent selves to a wider, more realistic image of our more loving and "calm-passionate," Eternal Selves -- as Christ's Brothers and Sisters."

"...And only when we have opened our souls to our Divine Father, will we have clearly seen the actual Panorama of Life accurately reflected in the mirror of the world."

"The easiest way to "recapture" innocence and remember humility," Fine says, "is to forever keep in mind, that, as the Bible states, 'there is but a step between me and death,' -- or a few minutes of oxygen, which the Lord has created and so graciously provided."

The monumental impact of D.S. Fine's astonishing "core experience" and his subsequent reflections upon existence later became the basis and lifelong inspiration for "Godyssey." It was first self-published and printed by Fine in 1980 with only 200 copies, under the pen name (or "pun name" as he refers to it) of Jess Fein.

Later that same year, he met Lawrence Medeiros, a multi-talented, freelance illustrator and typographer who, subsequently, collaborated with Fine on the second edition of the paperback book released in 1994; and on the third edition, now published by Infinity Publishing (www.bbotw.com / www.infinitypublishing.com), in 2005.

Medeiros, "a steadfast and loyal friend" of Fine's for 25 years, has also contributed his substantial expertise with computer graphics, layout & design to create numerous cover and digital images for the more recent "Godyssey" incarnations.

"Larry has always been there, like a guiding lighthouse, -- when our friend-"ship" has sailed smoothly, -- and during those moments when creation of the book has traversed very troubled waters, indeed," Fine confides.

Together, they have found a sense of peace and completion after having "labored with love" for a quarter-century on what Fine calls their mutual "work of heart."

Fine explains, "The basis of this paradoxical, paradigm-shifting acknowledgment is the Biblical admonition [quoted in the Prologue to "Godyssey"]: "A human being shall not see My face and live." [From Exodus 33:20].

"So that, for all practical purposes, at the moment I experienced God's truly, truly ineffable and lightning-like intervention, while seeing His Holy Countenance, I was no longer in "existence" as we know it, -- no longer alive."

"Yet, having lost 20 days of sleep," Fine speculates, "may have prevented my consciousness from being annihilated; simply because there was no unconsciousness to disappear into!"

"I was, at that moment, 100% conscious, -- and, therefore able, with God's Love and Grace, -- to revive, remember and report what I saw, heard and felt."

"What led up to the encounter was almost instinctual, - vitally important, in the sense that I was excited and compelled to remain awake. Because, in the preceding weeks, somehow, I could intuit that something cataclysmic or life-changing was imminent," he recounts.

Could the events painstakingly described in "Godyssey," particularly the singular Event so precisely recreated on pages 71 thru 74 of the 2005 edition, be the basis of concerted scientific research into the ultimate (and intimate) First Cause of the Universe?

Fine hopes so, having put forth and distributed this hypothesis in the form of a news release highlighting this core experience, to over 100 newsgroups on the web, worldwide.

"Thus far," he estimates, "there have been relatively few scientific, religious or philosophic inquiries into experiences of this nature, -- some of which have been categorized as *Kundalini experiences."

"However," he states, "anyone who has actually undergone this "I-opening" Enlightenment or Revelation will most certainly tell you that the word: "merely" does not apply to this uniquely Cosmic Experience, in any sense of the word."

"This was God. Our Almighty Creator, the Eternal Being at the very Center of the Universe."

Although God may be considered by many to be the sum total of everything in existence, (and Fine wholeheartedly respects the "Holy Spirit of Freedom" that each individual has, -- to believe in God in whatever manner they choose), --he reiterates his own belief:

That, if one is able to survive the encounter, "whosoever sees God as He truly is, -- as the Ultimate Ground of Being, --the Self-Evident, Self-Creating Power which energizes and enlivens all forms, that which is "One behind all Images," --could not for one fleeting instant ever doubt that he has seen the Face of God in all His Glory and Inconceivable Majesty."

The spiritual parallels to Copernicus and Galileo are obvious.

Both "far-sighted" theorists de-centrified and, therefore, de-glorified mankind with the unpopular revelation that the Earth was not at the center of the universe.

And just as "their consciousness-altering discoveries were disrespectfully disregarded and discarded," Fine says, "and not immediately accepted, but, rather, were scorned and repressed as heresy," -- he regrets that this extraordinary experience has been, and is likely to continue to be suppressed by contemporary society, also, for a time.

So, is there any hope that this new-found, yet ancient knowledge will someday change and enlighten humanity?

Boston, MA (SERAPHIMEDIA) September 18, 2001 -- On the morning of September 11, 2001 (at 8:17 AM, Eastern Daylight Time), "Godyssey: A Young Man's Proof of God's Existence" (Copyright Ä 1980, 1990 by Jess Fein, All Rights Reserved) was first published via the world wide web.

Seven web pages (located at http://www.Godyssey.org) include excerpts from the original book (First Printing, June 1980; Second Printing, November & December 1994).

"Godyssey" contains never-before revealed, monumentally stunning and graphic information which will forever alter and expand one's consciousness.

On August 22, 1994, free rights to reprint and broadcast 20% of the content of "Godyssey" were offered to every major television network news group in America, along with The New York Times, Time Magazine, "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Larry King Live," "Nightline," "Eye to Eye," and other selected groups and individuals throughout the United States.

"WHEN THE DUST CLEARED" / 'Nuclear Secrets'

The probability of a heaven existing after death was something that I didn't consciously believe. My main preoccupation/fear as a youth and then as an adolescent was (and still is) that when you're dead, you're dead. Nothingness: forever and ever, amen.

However, when confronted with a phenomenon such as time-expansion (admittedly, relative/subjective) and 'God-warp' (absolute/objective), I was immediately forced to rethink almost all my thoughts about reality.

My mind stripped a gear shifting from forward to reverse without braking. I kept my eyes open as the car slammed into an apparently real brick wall at 100 MPH. Oh, the wall was real alright, but when the bricks fell and the dust cleared and the car was intact, where was I? On the other side of life and still alive! But...

'Was that Warp actually God? Am I dead? Where am I? Is this another Earth in another dimension? Another galaxy? If I am dead, why am I breathing and why do I still have this same body? Did it happen to everyone? If not, I know that no one else in the history of mankind has ever lived to tell about this Warp. If someone had, wouldn't we all know about it? Its impact; its inconceivably fierce vortex; its holiness; its agony; its magnitude; its perfect truth.'

...(A Warhead in the Forehead!!) ...(A vortex in the cortex!!)...

One of the first things you do if you suspect you have died in your house is to pray - and then check the doors! Why? Because if you are in hell, they are all locked. All the windows are sealed and you are encased for eternity in your own private dimension of hell. ...'Private dimentia?'...

My life ground itself to a halt!!! ...'Acts to grind'...

"Oh, thank God, everything's open; thank You, God, thank You!"

Then you search for signs of life outside because maybe the dimension of Hell is larger than you thought. It's possible. As you check and recheck your watch to see if it's still moving, you begin to wonder if you are in heaven, not hell.

'Clouds still floating? Birds still singing? Seems so. People still living? I hope to God... Yes, yes, there is someone driving slowly up the street.'

"Hi!" I yell out the window and wave.

'Am I being tested? Who am I? ...Feel the same.'

Then you think, 'If this is Paradise, will everyone be naked? Am I the only one clothed? My clothes do come off, don't they?!'

"NO SECOND THOUGHTS"

No one on television seemed to be dying. A film clip from a new movie revealed a movie-star being knocked down repeatedly by a speeding car and bouncing right up again, -- nothing could hurt him! It was obvious that it was not originally filmed that way.

Commercials which I'd seen a hundred times had subtly changed to project a new warmth, humor and soul -- money was never mentioned; people spoke as if God was their guiding force and everything broadcast seemed to be Live.

It was almost like an overlap from another dimension.

Soon, there would be no need for clocks, seconds or "numb"-ers, at all. Earthly time, itself, would be obsolescent. Maybe I'd captured "the eternal moment" that everyone had always talked about. Love seemed to expand time eternally.

God is eternal time and eternal space - the Impossible Split. To love God is to love infinity, eternity, forever - and this is a virtual human inconceivability. Furthermore, we are all secretly afraid of living forever, never "sleeping." And without love, this fantasy would be an unending nightmare. So, which viewpoint is the rationalization? -- To live forever is paradise? Or to live forever is torment?

With a spirit/soul of hate, any amount of time can be hell. With a spirit/soul of love, any amount of time can be heaven.

A nuclear whirl of hell? -- Or a new, clear world of Love?

Seated in the den recliner, half in a fog, half stupefied, I wanted to call out to my mother in the kitchen the news about Jupiter and the Shekhina-skies; but for some reason, I didn't.

Earlier in the day, a news report said that scientists had set the nuclear doomsday clock at 9 minutes to midnight, so I was inured to cataclysmic predictions.

...'Coming attractions'... 'youth-in-asia.'

The rest of the news continued for about 10 minutes, whereupon, in the background of a newsfilm dealing with school unrest, I recognized myself strolling by, looking down at the ground and passing a tree, behind a reporter.

A paranormal panorama... 'Hypnagogery?'

"Hey, that's me!" I cried out. But how could it be? I wasn't anywhere near that place - but that's the way I was walking down my street, -- my clothes, my beard, my face, my expression, -- this afternoon - a good 20 miles from the school.

'I'd know me anywhere.'

I switched the channels - click - and there I was again lurking in the background of another news report. At 6:30 on the national news, I saw myself appear amid a group of young men (-- something about amnesty; "earned re-entry" for draft evaders and deserters).

CBS. ABC. NBC. Me. Me. Me.

What the hell was I doing on TV? I didn't have the vaguest idea. Except to believe in the miraculous mechanisms of God. ('But, Who's holding the Camera?!')

Was I in a world of my own creation, or "gene-dream," or heaven?...

In his latest pamphlet, Mr. Blood describes the value of the anaesthetic revelation for life as follows:

"A great Being or Power was travelling through the sky, his foot was on a kind of lightning as a wheel is on a rail, it was his pathway. The lightning was made of innumerable spirits close to one another, and I was one of them. EPILOGUE: "Egg Cell"

The only reason I am still "alive" may be because I lost twenty days of sleep, 'emptying' myself along the way, before unknowingly killing myself at twenty years of age.

...Yet, anyone who has truly unravelled the hidden secrets of his (or her) inner mind has accomplished much in life, regardless of age.

To come to grips with the fact that there is another force within yourself, something undefinable and yet unlimited in terms of space and time. To crack the egg within yourself and let yourself out. To release yourself from confining guilt. To realize that there is a higher intelligence, or motivating force within you and without. To overcome your fear of death. To be mentally and spiritually REBORN in THIS lifetime. To achieve all of these things is to be genuinely free.

We must not be prisoners of our own minds. Guilt and fear are the keys which lock us up in a tiny cell. We must escape. We must be free.

In order to liberate the consciousness, I believe it is necessary for an individual to travel back in time, in one's own mind, and be wholly honest with oneself.

It is essential to go back through the months and years to erase the guilt, hurt, shame and fear that one may have accumulated. Negative feelings can influence an entire destiny.

They can become the "computer program" of the subconscious. Every action in one's life, large or small, can be determined by a subliminal life pattern. A life pattern built upon the twin foundations of guilt and fear (if not broken down and reassembled) can overwhelm a human being, and produce a feeling of impotence.

Predeterminism. -- "My life is in my genes."

'The Grand Delusion.'

Traumatic experiences must be dealt with face to face. This is most important. They are the enemy. They shape many lives. Stare them in the face, and they will go away. Fear them and they have you "in the palms of their hands." - If destiny is said to be written in the creases of the palm, traumas hold your destiny.

Examine the 'who, what, when, where, why, and how' of every trauma in your life. Examine the after-effects. Surprisingly, the most difficult thing to do is to find the dramatic/traumatic action, itself. 'Its-elf.'

Once you have searched your soul as far back as you can, it is time to return to the present, - and the present is a gift.

Somewhere, in the other dimension, there may be an epitaph which merely reads: Jess Fein 1954 - 1974.

7 "Down-to-Earth, Up-to-Heaven" Questions & Answers

Q. Why would God appear to you in such an overwhelming (and painful) manner?

A. I believe that the actual essence and Being of God is so inconceivably mighty and powerful that even to glimpse the most infinitesimal atom of His Reality makes it existentially impossible for a human being to withstand or survive (as is expressed biblically in Exodus 33:20).

After all, just think of the energy (in the form of intensely explosive power) inherent in a single atomic nucleus, released at its division, via the unspeakable "Deus ex machina-mechanism" of a hydrogen bomb.

Q. So, if it is impossible to see God, -- even for only 20 seconds, and live, -- how could you have seen Him?

A. After losing 20 days of sleep at the age of 20, while uprooting traumatic experiences and deeply questioning existence, it's possible that I literally "broke through" into a realm of pure consciousness, -- without "un"-consciousness.

Therefore, I had no "place" to "disappear" or "dissolve into." -- Nowhere. 'Now-here.'

Or, it's possible that what we believe to be consciousness is actually only a shadowy, veiled, dreamlike (or nightmarish) state of "being."

Without a true awareness of God, "Being" in the gyroscopic center of our lives, -- as a righteous force (or counterbalance) for Good, we are all, in "reality," dead or unconscious, so to speak.

As I discovered, when God, -- Goodness (the absence of evil), -- is uppermost in one's consciousness, everything has meaning. Everything has a purpose.

Paradoxically, when everything has meaning, "nothing"(-ness) has meaning.

The reason that nothingness (or death or unconsciousness) "exists" is because, through self-righteous pride (and attendant evil), we stubbornly refuse to place God at the center of His own Creation, thereby "creating" a vacuum or "blind spot" in the very core of our existence, -- "experienced" as death.

Q. But, why would the actual sight of God, or even a vision of God engender so much pain, -- isn't God a god of love?

A. Well, there are a number of perspectives from which to answer this question:

1). Yes, God has an infinite "number" of infinitely powerful attributes, including, foremost and most meaningfully, --Love, -- and its power to create, "re-member," recreate (and resurrect).

And, as previously mentioned, God's ultimate and intimate, infinite and eternal, preexistent and preeminent, immortal Nature beyond all nature(s) is so overwhelmingly inexpressible and "Almighty" that merely to look upon His Face causes an all-too-finite and mortal human being instantaneous pain and unconsciousness, -- similar to what one would experience if looking directly at the world's most powerful laser beam, for example.

2). By (the self-evident truth of) His own definition of omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence, God has endless flexiblity and "sense"-ability to "Man"-ifest in whatever form He wishes.

"I shall be what I shall be" is now often referred to, by many Hebrew and biblical scholars, as the closest English translation of God's proclamation to Moses: "I am that I am." (Exodus 3:14)

3). Since, God forbid, I may have unknowingly transgressed or entered into His Holy presence with an imperfect, unwhole or "unholy" conscience (or consciousness), -- it is possible that He was angry with me and showed His unforgettably indelible and painful, furious Countenance.

(May I add that I am eternally grateful to God that, although this memory is Itself everlasting, the actual EVENT did not last forever -- for that would surely be Hell!)

In this regard, it might have been the clash of like and unlike, -- in other words, that which is imperfect cannot enter into the realm of Perfection.

4). Or, as it is also written in the Bible: "And It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this is the judgment." (Hebrews 9:27)

The next verse is an even more significant one, for I believe it offers the only Hope.

The Hope that we can "escape the inescapable" cause-and-effect retribution from our own conscience, from the world's "vicious circle" and from the wrathful Face of God: "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him he shall appear the second time without sin unto salvation." (Hebrews 9:28)

Q. Hasn't God commanded that there be no graven images of Himself?

A. Yes, God, in His farsighted wisdom, has commanded that "thou not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." (Exodus 20:4)

What I believe I have, as accurately as humanly possible, described in my book, does not fall into any of the categories God has proscribed, -- simply because His Countenance is truly, truly impossible for any human being to imagine or conceive, -- and transcends any-"thing" within the created universe.

Any image of any thing which can be conceived is, by definition, conceivable.

God is, by definition, beyond conception, inconceivable, -- or rather, conceivable only by Himself.

And even though I have depicted an Image, -- or, in essence, "clothed a Thought" recurrent throughout "Godyssey" in various forms, via words and pictures, -- it is still absolutely impossible to convey the magnitude of His Ineffable, Almighty (<- that is the best word I have found) Power.

Q. What do you hope mankind will learn from the experience you are communicating?

A. That all forms of "prime-evil" pride, greed, theft, jealousy, abuse, bigotry, hatred, murder and inhumanity must cease.

Through the painfully self-evident, karmic realization that when we commit evil acts we are una-"void"-ably and retroactively caught in the web of our own weaving, -- in the bonds of our own binding.

We cannot fool God, -- or ourselves.

Let's be 100% honest with ourselves and see with crystalline clarity, -- that it is pride, -- concomitant with the rejection of any force higher than oneself, -- which "elevates" a person to a false and dangerous position of power, from which a painful, often fatal fall is inevitable, -- from such "dizzying heights."

We know in our hearts what is Good and what is evil.

If evil is consciously chosen, and Good is consciously rejected, the path inevitably leads to pain and destruction.

Without escape.

UNLESS one turns, in genuine humility, to an Intermediary, to a Savior, -- to Jesus Christ, -- and therefore changes the course of his or her own "train of thought."

The tracks of which we have been steadily laying down, throughout our lives, leading to a self-created, hell-"bound" concentration camp of unimaginable horror.

Q. So you believe that the man captured (or, possibly, en-"Raptured!") on videotape, walking down the hill, followed by a naked child could really be Christ and could have saved you from "the second death?'"

A. Yes.

Q. How could a barefoot man with long hair, wearing a contemporary T-shirt, be Jesus Christ?

A. I suppose if I had a preconceived image of Christ's Second Coming, as we all do, it would be something like: a supernaturally glowing, brighter & larger-than-life, white-robed figure of the holiest Man Who ever lived, --trumpeted forth by gloriously-perfect angels, resplendently surrounded by every resurrected saint who ever existed, instantaneously enveloping every atom of the universe, the Earth and every creature upon it, -- this Holy Spirit of God in solemn judgment, simultaneously accepting believers and rejecting the unfaithful.

And, although this could be the way it ultimately 'supersonovas,' just prior to our own individual death, -- or the world's collective, twinkling-of-an-eye destruction / Transfiguration in the form of a universal Armageddon, --perhaps, just perhaps, we have been given a second chance.

-- To awaken ...and 'trance-end.'

-- To accept Jesus Christ at "His Word," so to speak, as the sacrificial Son of God, in all His down-to-earth reality, in whatever outward "clothing" he chooses to appear to humanity, -- possibly even in the form of a barefoot, silent Man walking down a hill, followed by an unashamed, naked child.

Maybe this is why it is also stated in the Bible that "in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 24:44)

-- To give us a second chance to believe. --

-- To admit that we are powerless to face God, -- Who, in essence, represents our own inescapable Conscience, --without protection.

The vital protection of an Intermediary between a sinless, Good and Holy Creator and His prideful, violent, oftentimes evil children who continually choose, of our own blessed, free will to become, essentially, the opposite of Good, -- that is to say, -- Godless.

An empathetic Intercessor, our older Brother, our Redeemer, the Son of God, -- of the same Perfected or "Good Nature" as God, -- Who has already paid the incalculable debt, accruing "with infinite interest," that our sinful (imperfect) nature must eternally owe.

Debt = Death.

Paying = Pain.

(Owe = Oh!)

And, Love is "For-Giving."

Therefore, whoever refuses the gracious gift of a free and self-sacrificial, Loving repayment of debt, shall, undoubtedly (and indebtedly) have to repay it themselves.

Also undoubtedly, Christ, our Redeemer and Savior has, once-and-forever, broken the chains of cause and effect which have bound us all to the wheel of "strife and death," -- taking the unspeakable Wrath of God in our stead.

When, in a childlike and open manner, one wholeheartedly accepts the Reality that our Father in Heaven could "conceivably" incarnate in the form of a visible, personified Individual, -- is this not like being born again?

Could this naked, innocent Child, -- REBORN "in a sense," -- be you?

Or rather, -- us?
