Scarborough gets a better bathe with Morgan Sindall Grontmij and A1TM

A1TM are working with Morgan Sindall

Grontmij in Scarborough on behalf of

Yorkshire Water as the company invests

£50 million in the town to improve the

quality of sea water.

The project includes the construction of a

new 20-metre diameter, 35-metre deep storm water storage shaft at Yorkshire

Water's Toll House pumping station on Marine Drive. Tunnels will also be

constructed between the existing sewer, Toll House pumping station and a

new combined sewer overflow (CSO).

A1TM have designed and implemented the traffic management layout at

Marine Drive, for the Toll House works, involving the installation of a

temporary mini roundabout to facilitate the programme with the minimum

disruption possible. Introduction of temporary traffic lights through the week

has kept Marine Drive open to two way traffic, with a one way system

implemented at the weekends and school holidays.

A1TM are also working with Morgan Sindall

in Hattersley, Tameside, on the construction

of a new Tesco Extra. A1TM have been

providing the traffic management, to allow

the carriageway to be widened and a new

footpath to be created for store access. TM

has also included lane and road closures, for

utilities connection works.

“The traffic management layout design drawings provided by A1TM were of a high standard, and they are a professional team, working together and supporting us as the Scarborough project moves forwards. We look forward to continuing to build this relationship and would definitely use them again.”

and implementation on a busy dual carriageway in South

Wales.

…in the North West...

Working with Donegan Civil Engineering, near Rochdale,

Greater Manchester, A1TM have designed and imple-

mented roundabout lane closures to create workspace and

facilitate the installation of a Combined Sewer Overflow

(CSO) shaft.

lands and Stoke areas.

A1TM news from around the country...

…the Midlands...

A1TM have secured a long term deal with North Midland

Construction (NMC). A1 have been selected as one of the

4 Traffic Management Services providers and are looking

forward to being a supplier partner to NMC going forwards

for a wide range of work including motorway contraflow to

civil engineering projects.

Peek are a leading provider of traffic control, signalling,

monitoring and management systems; as well as lighting

installation and maintenance. A1 is proud to support

Peek in the provision of Temporary Traffic Management

across the country, and has recently been providing a

complex TM setup for a tunnel project in the North West.

The project involved the removal and replacement of the

lamp columns on the approach to the tunnel.

TM planning required permissions and authorisations

from a number of different bodies due to the complex

highway ownership setup. Traffic management involved

night time lane and road closures on a busy stretch of the

motorway network.

La Machine spider 2008 event in Liverpool City

Centre, A1TM were appointed to work closely with Liverpool City Council to provide the complex traffic management plan for the

Sea Odyssey Giant Spectacular.

Once again A1 demon-strated it’s ability to de-sign, plan and traffic man-age a large scale event with rapid TM layout changes as the Little Girl Giant and the Giant Uncle moved around the city on separate routes.
