Before the process of creating out music video we did many research on how celebrities Music Video is filmed and how it is shown to audience. The way Korean Pop Music Video shows their talents and music within the music to attract audiences attentions and to understand their purpose of their song which is being filmed. I feel with our production if we had even more high tech technology such as studio lighting and soft boxes it would be even brighter and vivid Pop Video. But instead we filmed without naturally sun light and adding hard lighting filters to make the Music Video seem much more livelier. If I was to change the way the Music Video was filmed I would have contained more lighting from around to make it a lot more pop video like. For our Music Video I used iMovie to edit and put together to create this music video. Many of my peers from other groups used Adobe Cut Pro but I personally felt much more comfortable with using iMovie since to me it was more easier and less difficult.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

When doing the ancillary task to link with our main product I found that it was really hard to adapt all together. It got to the point where I as an individual had to work on everything from a group project to a solo project. I had many ideas of how I wanted my digipak and advertisement poster to be like but I found it hard to adapt and create a strong final image by myself since it all started as a group project. With our digipak I tried my best to link it with our main product of the Music Video. I added images of what i was shooting for the Music Video so audience would have a sense of what is being made and what is being shown. I used images that capture what is important to a girl on a typical ‘Friday Night’ and used them as slot images for each square on the digipak template. Even though there is many things that I would change about my digipak layout to make it more outstanding and more attractive for audience to grab attention to, I found that it was a very hard task without help. I tried my best as an individual to adapt on my idea to create this digipak but to me it didn't come out the strongest as it could have.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Before the process of creating out music video we did many research on how celebrities Music Video is filmed and how it is shown to audience. I personally looked not only at Western pop Music Video but also Korean pop video to compare. I feel with Western Music Videos it has more of a seductive atmosphere to they way artists present themselves.

Since their was troubles and difficultly with making this whole Music Video I had to reduce the length of the song by cutting it. The good thing about iMovies is that once you drag it at a certain spot, if you left click they give you a ‘Split’ option which you do and then you can delete and cut the parts you do not want.

At this part of the Music Video, the lighting wasn't 100% bright and lively, so using the tools on the top right just above the preview screen of the editing footage the 8th tool (from left to right) gives you the option to add a filter provided by iMovies itself. For this, I chose to use the filter ‘Hard Light’ to make the scene more vivid and lively to suit in with the whole pop video.

Within the whole music video, I chose to add small sections of what a girl needs when they are getting ready for a typical ‘friday night’ such as make up, shoes (heels) and wardrobe outfits. When the lyrical part starts, thats where the narrative starts. Within a text message being shown which is the exact lyrics ‘Its a friday night so here we go’ and then theres also footages of us lip syncing to the song and also moving footages of the props that was use for the narrative. Such as a 360 film of shoes being laid on the floor. A 180 film of make up being scatted on to the vanity desk. Also the end footage of walking out the door with a pair of heels on to state friday night is starting.

(ending clip before the final round off of the written T.G.I.F on vanity mirror)

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I think overall our production wasn't as strong as it could be. There is a lot of improvements to make and adapt but it’s not easy when a group project changes into a solo project with no explanation. If I knew from the start that I was going to be left alone, I would have chose a different song. maybe a slower slow with much more meaning and content. This music video was challenging. But at the end I managed to finish and complete it even if I felt like it wasn't capable of me to finish the whole project alone.

From others feedback, I felt that everyone enjoyed what I have produced. Knowing it’s not the best standard of work my peers were really supportive and told me how to adapt and improve and add whilst working on it. They enjoyed the concept of the starting text message to the ending walking out of the bedroom in heels since it gave them the message of ‘needing to get ready’

How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

Within the whole progress of the product, I used wordpress to note down what has happened within stages. Maybe not all stages but it was just a rough type of what has happened and a brief way to show our progression towards the finishing piece. At the end, I had trouble uploading the finished music video to Youtube due to copyright. Even though I messaged Katy Perry via instagram if we were able to use her music/song for this times project. It did not come to mind we had to also message the featuring artist Missy Elliot. Because of this problem I had to upload it onto vimeo which took a lot longer to upload since it was jumping from thousands of minutes to 55-57 minutes to upload. But in the end everything was sorted, it was able to upload into vimeo without any copyright statement and then was able to process from there. Below is the copy right email from Youtube.
