Graham DrakeGraham Drake was born in the UK and after finishing his degree in mechanical and electronic engineering worked for an engineering manufacturer before going into sales and marketing with Granada TV.

After this Graham was involved in new technology and was one of the early pioneers of Viewdata and became the national manager for Telefusion Business. Graham built them into one of the largest suppliers of Viewdata equipment (brands like Sony and Phillips) in the UK with clients such as Telecom, Thomas Cook and British Leyland.

Graham worked for a number of international (Technical) based manufacturers including Satchwell control systems (a division of GEC) before arriving in Australia in 1989 with GEC Australia as Technical Sales & Marketing manager.

However, after a very short period Graham recognized the potential for outdoor media and joined Superbus, which was a small division of Buspak.

This was at a time when Transit advertising was very unpopular and unproven. However, the vision was there and Graham helped market and sell this medium directly to clients and through agencies. With creative, strategic ideas, case studies, research and promotional extensions, he turned this venture into a multi-million dollar business helping merge into the Buspak total portfolio nationally in Australia.

Some major achievements by Graham during this time was the creation of the first ‘all over buses’ with see through window film to make buses and trams giant moving billboards, as well as some of the first 3D images/extrusions –

giving even more creative impact. These breakthrough ideas have now become a standard part of all Bus and Tram advertising.

After this, Graham set up Buspak Direct services nationally and dealt with all small to medium businesses, non-serviced agencies and media buyers as well as handling all non-media requirements for production.

Graham then set up his own specialised agency as the only direct distributer for the Buspak advertising group at that time, handling all aspects from consultancy and planning to media buying, creative, production and account management for all transit media as well as other forms of media, outdoor and point of sale.

After 8 years of running this very successful business, Graham once again saw a new medium potential in Digital and on-line radio and helped develop this over several years with The World Audio Group and Radio2.

Then came the challenge of helping set up Truck Back Media in Australia with clients such as the RTA, Toyota, Shell and diversifying into other areas of ambient/outdoor/fleet graphics and wraps as well experiential marketing.

This led to the forming of Visual Image Media (VIM) with the PMA Communications Group to provide even more specialised skills with the backing of a full service agency. VIM, with some of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of products/film, can now offer a total visual solution and guarantee the very best products and services for your visual requirements.
