    Mr Osborne's second budget was greeted by cheers on theCoalition benches but was damned by Labour leader EdMiliband. He said: "It is the same old Tories. It is hurting but it

    Taylor appeared in her first film at the age of nine, forUniversal. Her next movie was Lassie Come Home (1943) andher first leading role, at the age of 12, was in National Velvet(1944).

    She was a powerful actress who won an Academy Award forplaying a call girl in Butterfield 8 (1960), another for herportrayal of a foul-mouthed alcoholic in Who's Afraid ofVirginia Woolf? (1967), and earned Oscar nominations for Caton a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly, Last Summer and RaintreeCounty.

    She was the first star to receive $1,000,000 for a film. Her

    career spanned around half a century and involved more than 60films and TV shows.

    Taylor married eight times - twice to the same man, RichardBurton - and was hailed as the most breathtakingly beautifulwoman in the world. With her lush black hair, her striking violeteyes, her heart-shaped face and dark eyelashes she was theunchallenged sex symbol of her generation.
