4. POLICIES

A. Assigning Practicum Units and Hours 4.1. All students in Accountancy, Management Accounting, Legal Management,

Business Administration, Biology, Cosmetic Science, Psychology, Computer Education, Nutrition and Dietetics, Tourism, Hospitality Management, Education, Liberal Art, Music and Social Work shall have a Practicum course in their curriculum.

4.2. The number of hours of Practicum shall depend on the number of hours specified in the CHED Memorandum Order of the Program and should not be less than what is prescribed in the CMO.

4.3. In cases, where there will be a difference in the number of hours in the CMO and the Program curriculum, changes shall be approved by the UC.

4.4. Fifty (50) hours of practicum is equivalent to one unit.

4.5. Practicum classes shall have 3 lecture units equivalent/assigned to the teacher who will handle 3 hours a week of class or a total of 54 hours in a semester for Practicum hours of 300 and above; 1 lecture unit (18hours) for 100-199 hours equivalent of practicum and 2 lecture units (36 hours) for 200-299 hours practicum per semester. Please see the table below.

4.6. The units of the Practicum lecture classes shall be part of the total units of

practicum without subtracting the number of hours the students need to attend the Practicum in the industry/agency.

4.7. The tuition for the practicum shall be used for the following: 4.7.1. faculty load 4.7.2. honorarium for visit of teachers to practicum site of students 4.7.3. affiliation fee to industry/agency 4.7.4. token for agencies and practicum supervisors in the industries/agencies 4.7.5. Practicum graduation

B. Administering the Practicum Training

4.8. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) / Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) / Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) where applicable shall be signed by the CEU President and the authorized person of the receiving/cooperating establishment/agency/institution. The Dean/Program Head signed as witness/es.

4.9. In the absence of a Memorandum of Agreement, a Training Agreement initiated by the practicum cooperating establishment/agency/institution signed by their authorized representative and the Dean/Program Head concerned may be accepted.

4.10. Pre-practicum examination shall be conducted by the Counseling and Testing Department prior to the start of practicum.

4.11. The student trainees shall be officially enrolled prior to endorsement to the agency/establishment/institution.

4.12. Criteria for selection of the agency/establishment/institution for practicum shall be satisfied and its evaluation completed after every end of practicum.

4.13. A medical clearance shall be secured for the University Medical Staff to ensure that student trainees have undergone and have completed immunization requirements when deemed necessary and/or when required by the practicum establishment.

4.14. Student trainees shall undergo practicum in their field of specialization as required in their respective curriculum.

4.15. All students enrolled in Practicum shall comply with the number of hours of

Practicum prior to graduation and attend lecture class for reports, debriefing, and lessons on applying jobs, proper dressing, etc.

4.16. Student trainees shall be covered by the rules and regulations and violations shall be dealt in accordance with the Practicum Student’s Pledge.

4.17. The student trainees shall have a practicum trainer/supervisor/cooperating teacher coming from the industry/school.

4.18. The faculty handling the practicum lecture classes shall serve as practicum

coordinator/supervising teacher to the industries/agencies/school where the students do their practicum and shall be paid honorarium every time they visit the student in the practicum site which is one visit per month per student.

4.19. The student trainees shall record his/her activities using the Record of Practicum Activity (ROPA).

4.20. The practicum coordinator/supervising teacher shall verify ROPA and Monitoring of Practicum Student’s Misdemeanor and shall report to the Dean.

4.21. The Practicum Evaluation Report (PER) shall be accomplished by the practicum trainer/supervisor/cooperating teacher periodically as required by the School/College and summarized by the Practicum Coordinator.

4.22. The practicum training shall have been completed by the student within one semester; otherwise, he/she shall be given a final grade of No Final Requirement (NFR).

4.23. Every grading period, the student’s CP grades will comprise the transmutation grades from the course adviser (50%) and the trainor (50%), which will then be applied to the CEU grading system computation.

5. NARRATIVE PROCEDURES Dean/Head of Program 1. Processes the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) /

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) / Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC)/Training Agreement between the University and the affiliated establishment/agency/institution and files a copy.

2. Assigns the Practicum lecture load to a

faculty/Practicum coordinator.

3. Conducts Orientation Program for Practicum.

4. Issues Compliance to Practicum Requirements, Parent’s/Guardian’s Consent for Practicum Training (PGCPT), Practicum Student’s Pledge (PSP), Endorsement of Practicum Training (EPT) with Acknowledgement and Approval of Practicum Training (AAPT), Record of Practicum Activity (ROPA), and Practicum Evaluation Report (PER) through the Practicum Coordinator during Practicum Orientation or School/College Clerk after Practicum Orientation.

Student 5. Complies and submits with the practicum requirements

(Psychological Test and Medical Screening).

6. Complies with the rules and regulations covered by the Practicum Student’s Pledge.

7. Fills out the forms (CPR, PGCPT, PSP, EPT).

8. Submits Endorsement of Practicum Training (EPT) to

Dean for approval.
