In July’s newsletter (Midget Chassis), I described my efforts

to determine the factory production date (i.e., “Birthdate”) for each of our MG TC cars. That search has now been completed and the results will be formally documented for possible inclusion in future newsletters and/or the annual TC Motoring Guild Directory. In the course of that pursuit, I developed a renewed interest in the history (beyond its initial manufacture) of our own 1948 MG TC. In particular, I noted that “T-Register”, the organization that provided production dates for our “TC Birthday File”, was also willing to search their fi les for any additional information that might exist on a specifi c car. To that end, I have now been organizing what little historic data I have, with the intent of sharing that data with the Historian at “T-Register”. My hope is that, by so doing, their data (if any) and my data can be merged to provide a more complete history of our car. A brief summary of my very limited data follows.• 1948 MG – TC 4694 – XPAG 5319 (Date of Manufacture - Feb. 2, 1948)

• HISTORY OF OWNERSHIPFrom ? to September 29, 2000

Owned by Robert O. Jordan Weston, ConnecticutVehicle License No. – Connecticut 573ACA

From Sept. 29, 2000 to July ?, 2007Unknown Owner – No Registration Record

From July ?, 2007 to Sept. 4, 2007Lawrence D. WolffWestlake Village, California

From Sept. 4, 2007 to PresentCurtis & Janice Sorensen – Westlake Village, CaliforniaVehicle License No. – California 6AOE409

So, in the coming days, I will submit this data to the TABC Registrar (Stewart Penfound), at T-Register, and hope for the best. One might ask why I didn’t pursue Robert Jordan (the prior owner in Connecticut) directly. Well, I did, but when I came across his death notice (and obituary) in the New York Times (dated September 22, 2002) I decided that the trail was cold!I suspect that some of our TCMG members have also attempted to learn more about the history of their cars. So, if any of you have suggestions on how to approach this problem, I would absobloodylootely appreciate receiving them! Cheers!

The “unintentionally triennial” hot dog party at the Einhorn residence was a huge success as usual. 38 members and guests with fi ve TCs took part, beginning at the Crandall home in Malibu for a nice brunch. After a 90-minute tour of Mulholland Highway the group was treated to gourmet Chicago hot dogs, side dishes and dessert by the Einhorns. Huge applause and thanks to those who made the event happen – the Einhorns for the main event, Crandalls for our lovely brunch start, and Simmons who planned and led our driving tour.

June 21June 21st st Meeting/Picnic MinutesMeeting/Picnic Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President, Curt

Sorensen at 8:15 PM. Curt pointed out that the “gavel box” has a memo on the bottom indicating that the box was made by Tony Henkels. Curt read a poem written by Tony’s granddaughter, Megan, about her grandfather. A large group of members were in attendance at this annual picnic at the Henkels. Guests included Gus Ramos (who has submitted a membership application), Kate (the Simmons niece from Idaho), Pamela (Tony’s daughter), and Renee and Bill Livingston (Elizabeth Page’s sister and brother-in-law from Australia). Out of town members at the picnic included Linda and Allan Chalmers, and Elizabeth Page. Special thanks were given to Cindy for hosting the evening picnic, to Jim Crandall who will be this month’s editor of the newsletter, and to Hema for hosting a very successful event last month at this shop. Curt also mentioned approximately a half dozen club cars that have birthdays in June! The minutes from the May meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter. In the Edgars’ absence, Curt presented the Treasurer’s report. He reported that PayPal has been set up and is ready for membership renewal. There were no Regalia or Sunshine Committee reports.Historian Don McLish spoke on twin TCs. The Hospitality Committee is still looking for someone to host an upcoming meeting. Upcoming events include Movie Night

at the Simon Museum which has been moved to the August meeting,

therefore Visconsi Automotive Art will be the program for the September meeting. GoF West is June 27th until July 1st. Several TCMG members will be leaving later this week for the event in Oregon. The Edgars are already there helping with preparations. July 10th will be a Hot Dawg Party at the Einhorns’. The day will start at the Crandalls’ with everyone proceeding on a 90 minute drive along Mulholland Hwy to the Einhorns’ home. The July meeting will be Pete Thelander presenting the MG Through the Ages. A reminder to anyone planning to attend Conclave in October: please make your reservations. The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM so everyone could enjoy the desserts baked by Cindy. Respectfully submitted,

Sandra Loe Secretary

Save the Date!

It has happened again that no club has stepped forward to sponsor the next GoF West. TCMG member Larry Long and Steering Committee member Mike Campbell did the 2016 in Redmond, giving credit to the help they received from California Central Coast and Southern California volunteers. They gave credit for the car display organization to the TC Motoring Guild, as all the primary workers were from our club. David and Joyce Edgar did some preplanning, but kudos to David Reid, Terry Schuller, June Wennekamp and Sandra Loe for their effi ciency in getting quality photographs very quickly as the cars entered, so there was very little waiting, and to David’s parking crew of Gorden Bundy, Richard Loe, and Roy Jones with some non-TCMG help too. They had a plot plan to work from, which sounded good on paper. Of course we didn’t count on the construction supplies being delivered including a sea going container. Talking about throwing a spanner in the works! But our crew was fl exible and the TC Motoring Guild got the job done. Thanks also to Lucy McCanne for helping with the hospitality needs in Redmond. I am so chuffed of all of you.

But now, let’s talk 2017. When it looked like there would be no 44th GoF West (2017), David Edgar stepped forward and accepted the challenge of co-chairing the event with his life partner of 45 years… Many of you have heard this and, thank you for volunteering to help (and preserve

our marriage). So First off, save the dates, and feel free to go to the GOFWEST.org website to register and get all the hotel information. On-line registration is available with payments through PayPal (no

personal PayPal account required)Now Bob’s your uncle, so please

volunteer. We need someone to take charge of the Funkhanna (planning, set up and scoring) as well as the carless funkhana and auction. We will also have 2-3 hour shifts for hospitality and to help run the events, so you can help out without spending your whole day on it.
