Aavid Thermalloy AavBlister liquid cold plates aredesigned for customers seeking a cost effective high vol-ume solution for challenging power density applications.AavBlister plates increase the surface area in contact withthe cooling fluid by using fin structures in the flow paththereby increasing thermal transfer performance. Unlikemilled base plate designs, AavBlister cold plates allowdevice mounting holes to be placed anywhere in the baseplate without risk of interference with coolant channels.

PERFORMANCE:
All LCP parts are 100% leakage and pressure drop tested during production in accordance with European Norm PED 97-23.
• Leakage test with air from 50 to 6000 mbar (6 bar) with ± 0.5% accuracy
• Measurement of flow rate, Pressure Drop and graph construction 0 - 10 bar. Nominal flow max 47 l/min ± 0.5% accuracy
Additionally further tests may be carried out subject to customer requirements as follows;
• Leakage test with air up to 14 bar with ± 0.4% accuracy
• Water tests;
- Stress test 1 - 100 bar (± 0.2% accuracy)
- Static pressure with closed circuit 1 - 100 bar (± 0.2% accuracy)
- Pulsing pressure with closed circuit 1 - 100 bar (± 0.2% accuracy, 1 Hz frequency)
- Pulsing pressure test with open circuit 0.5 - 10 bar (± 0.2% accuracy, 1 Hz frequency)

Aavid Thermalloy Tube liquid cold plates are designed for engineers seeking a cost effective solution for low and medium power density applications. Tube cold plates feature a joint free continuous tube mechanicallyinterlocked into a extruded aluminum plate. In addition,a thermal epoxy is applied to the joint to provide a gapfree thermal interface between the plate and the tube for increased performance.

Aavid Thermalloy Aav Tube cold plates feature an innovation on our patented Hi-Contact™ design whichembeds tubes in the base plate to form a mechanicallyrobust cold plate. Extended Surface cold plates increasethe surface area in contact with the cooling fluid by usingflater and more closely spaced tubes in order to increasesurface area thereby increasing thermal transfer perfor-mance. Unlike narrow tube designs, the wide tube putsmore fluid in close contact to the device base plate toincrease thermal transfer.

AAVFLOW ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE COLD PLATES FOR POWER APPLICATIONS
Aavid Thermalloy AavFlow cold plates are designed for engineers looking to cool the latest high performance IGBTs. AavFlow plates increase the surface area in contact with the cooling fluid by using unique flow paths thereby increasing thermal transfer performance.The cold plate components are vacuum brazed togetherto form leak free joints. Aavid AavFlow cold plates offersuperior thermal performance with a lower pressure drop than other cold plates resulting in less costly fluidcirculation systems.

Working fluids are critical to cold plate performance. While water offers superior
performance it is not always practical due to application operating temperature.
Additives such as Glycol are often required to change the characteristics of water to
better suit the operating environment. In addition, coolants must be compatible with
the cold plate material to reduce the potential for corrosion. The table offers
guidelines for coolant compatibility with Aavid Thermalloy cold plates.
