The Bachelor of Arts in Economics is a program offered in the LingayenCampus of Pangasinan State University. This particular program is designedto provide students with an educational background and experience whichreflects the setting in the life of the economists in business enterprisesand government agencies. The program is grounded on the theoretical aswell as applied economics which are intended to sharpen the student’sanalysis and understanding of the complexities of today’s economy. Thestudents are exposed to various tools, methodologies, theories and orientationsthat will assist them in pursuing their careers in the field of economics.

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics Program is designed to producegraduates to:
1. Demonstrate working knowledge on economic concepts, theories andprinciples•necessary to understand the functioning of the Philippine and globaleconomies.
2. Develop understanding on the economic behaviors of the different economicunits such as the consumers, firms, government, and foreign sector.
3. Show mastery of various mathematical and statistical tools used in researchand economic modelling.
4. Exhibit competence and dynamism in performing functions as a productiveplayer of the economy and an active member of the community andorganization who takes the initiatives to lead for good governance.
5. Demonstrate expertise in the conduct of economic programs, projects andactivities that adopt national and international standards.

This course deals with developing independent and critical learners. It focuseson effective learning through proper library and study habits, word study andanalysis, paraphrasing and organizing data/information in audio-visual aids.Moreover, these devices are used in writing basic composition like narration,exposition description, and argumentation.
The course deals with the nature, importance, and functions ofcommunication. It includes the study of phonetics, mechanics, elements, andprinciples of spoken English for effective speech communication for varioussituations.

The course deals with the basic research writing skills of students in aparticular discipline. It discusses the essentials/structure of English needed intechnical writing, letter writing, and research writing. The tools for researchparticularly making an interview and a survey complete the study of this course.

The course deals with the various literary genres from various regions ofthe Philippines from their beginnings to their development and maturity asshowcased in the representative literary texts of Filipino writers in Spanish,Tagalog, and English.

This is an introductory course on the history and culture of the Filipinopeople. It is designed to give students basic knowledge about their country andpeople. The course combines the chronological and topical approaches, wherethe major historic periods are treated in sequential order. However, within eachperiod the discussion will proceed according to topics.
This course is a broad coverage of the conceptual and empirical foundationsof psychology in its main fields. The discussion of the theories, concepts, andempirical findings focuses on complex human behavior: how and why man thinks,feels, and behaves the way he does, how he acts and interacts with others,and why and how he becomes the unique individual that he is.

This course introduces students to the different perspectives of sociologyand anthropology with special reference to Philippine society and culture. Italso deals with the study of the why’s and how’s of marriage, familyrelationships and family planning. The philosophical analysis of the nature ofman, society and social order with emphasis on values that shape and influencethem will be covered. This course is designed to introduce the students to proofs and to thestructures of Algebra. Its emphasis is placed on acquiring the manipulative skillsnecessary for the students to understand Algebra and upper division ofmathematics course.
