The abas Business Software is used independent of the sector of industry in produc-tion, trade and service companies. Over 1,700 medium sized companies in different sectors work with the flexible abas Business Software worldwide - the size of the companies ranges from approx. 10 to over 1,000 employees.

abas ERP/Automotive supports companies in managing the processes in a com-plex supply chain and coordinates all stipulated logistical processes between the vendor and the manufacturer. Moreover, the online integration of the standardi-zed EDI processes provides a significant competitive advantage.

With the EDI function in abas ERP (EDI = Electronic Data Interchange), structured business processes according to the VDA, ODETTE, EDIFACT and ANSIX12 stan-dards can be automatically exchanged between the business application programs of a number of business partners. The implementation of EDI provides full control of the entire product, data and money flow. Thus, a flexible partner network is fully controllable.In contrast to receiving business documents by post or fax, from which there can be time loss through transport and data entry errors when creating a new record, the data is transferred in a few seconds in electronic form using EDI.

With EDI you can, for example, transfer purchase order data from the ERP/PPC system of the customer directly to the ERP/PPC system of the vendor.

The EDI functions in abas ERP/Automotive support the data exchange format of the German automotive industry VDA, EDIFACT subset of the European auto-motive industry ODETTE (Organization for Data Exchange and Tele Transmission Europe) and EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport). You can, for example, receive delivery schedules and JIT delivery schedules according to the VDA standard and send invoices and packing slips in these formats.

Well-known manufacturer of construction machines, pumps, refrigeration equip-ment, compressors, fans, machine tools and textile machines. Go-carting suppliers use AGUSS drive components as basic equipment for their products. The compo-nent supplier dominates the market for centrifugal clutches. Without too much of a marketing effort the company managed to become the "Hidden Champion" of its sector due to innovative and reliable drive technology. All modules of the abas Business Software are installed and used at Amsbeck. Plant data is collected using barcodes and the personnel time recording takes place by means of the PCS "Intus-Terminal". All data is processed in the ERP system. The amount of work to record the data was thus reduced to a minimum. The software‘s controlling tools turn out to be an important business instrument. Furthermore, the communication with business partners was improved through EDI.

The CabTec Holding AG produces cable looms and plastic components for various application areas. CabTec develops integrated complete solutions which are ready to be mounted and are tailored precisely to the respective customer‘s demands. Quality, process security, flexibility and cost optimization are natural requirements for the company. For this reason the abas Business Software is being used at the four locations in Rotkreuz, Flein, Szekszárd and Kecskemét. The administration, as well as the sales are in Rotkreuz and Flein, the production is in Szekszárd and Kecskemét. All abas Business Software modules have been implemented.

The Elkamet Kunststofftechnik GmbH based in the Hessian town of Biedenkopf develops and produces special profiles, fuel and hydraulic oil containers, as well as plastic lamp bodies for customers in Europe, Asia and the Americas. The continuous expansion of the company took the used business software to its limits. Outdated data structures and the resulting non-transparency of the data prompted Elkamet to look for a new ERP system at the end of 2002. The abas Business Software was selected due to its flexibility, internationality and guaranteed future. Since the abas system start transparency at Elkamet has increased considerably, stock levels could be decreased and the rate of stock turnover has increased.

As GEBRA was founded in 1945, wooden handles for the tool industry were manufactured in line with the family‘s wood processing tradition. With foresight the young company realized the importance of plastic processing and already in 1952 started to manufacture screwdrivers using injection molding. Since the mid-50s emergency reflective triangles are being produced. Being an original equipment manufacturer for automotive manufacturers for over 30 years is due to GEBRA‘s company philosphy: Innovation from Tradition.

To live this philosophy requires a maximum of flexibility in the demanding automo-tive market. This requirement caused GEBRA to look for a new, continuous and efficient system in 2004. After an extensive selection process the abas Business Software was selected. Due to the automotive features of the abas Business Software GEBRA was able to minimize paper requirements which were caused by incoming queries and changes. Via the EDI center, sales and scheduling now have a compiled overview over all current orders, which again has the effect that procurement and production can plan more precisely, timely and thus flexibly. By completing the work orders (PDC) in realtime and picking up machine status, a high transparency of the sales order status could be achieved. A resulting, very effective secondary effect is the automatic valuation of production activity.

The medium-sized business KAMEI decided on an eBusiness solution with abas eB which is a stand-alone solution and can easily be connected to any ERP system. The switch to the new abas ERP software will take place in a second step. A modern Webshop acts as new sales channel and is used to communicate with customers and merchants. Generally, a Webshop can only be used efficiently in sales, if a flexible ERP/materials management system and the connection to accounting, warehousing and shipping is provided as a basis. All product master files, adjusted specific product ranges and hierarchies, as well as product groups are depicted in the database and can be updated there directly. Changes made in abas ERP are, therefore, available online in the Webshop immediately.

The company, founded in 1987, realized the missing flexibility of the installed software Comet and, at System trade fair 2001, started to look for a more up-to-date ERP system which had to be adjustable in-house. At the end of 2002 the decision was made in favor of the ABAS Projektierung Rhein-Main. By means of the implementation method, the abas Business Software was gradually implemented. In July 2003 the EDI application was started, in August the financial accounting and the remaining modules followed in October. In addition to the improvement of the organizational processes, the abas ERP implementation also yielded an increase in productivity, since more processes can be processed with the same amount of employees.
