Function PackageThe Robot Travelling Column Function Package hasbeen developed from our well proven Modular Con-cept for robot carriers. The Travelling Column can becombined with two different types of positioners;IRBP L type or IRBP SH type, as well as two differenttypes of process packages; LAW 500 or LRC 430.There are also a number of accessories, available asoptions, such as sensors, torch cleaner, TCP calibra-tion unit, safety equipment etc that can be added tothe package.It’s easy to combine different components in differentlengths and heights with process equipment suitablefor your production.This Function Package enables manufacturers of largerworking objects to take advantage of well proven com-ponents integrated to a complete robotic welding pro-duction station. Examples of work pieces suitable for

welding in this station can be parts of trailers, forktrucks, offroad vehicles or agricultural equipment.All external axes are coordinated with the robot axeswhich gives excellent path following and accuracy. Italso simplifies programming.

Function Package baseThe Robot Travelling Column and the Robot IRB2400L form together the base of this Function Pack-age.

Robot IRB 2400LThe arc welding robot model of IRB 2400L has 1.8meters reach, 7 kg load capacity, large working rangeand slim arm and wrist for easy access to weld joints.

Robot Travelling ColumnThe robot carrier RTC is available in one height withseven adjustable positions 100 mm apart. There arethree different travel lengths; 7500 mm, 9500 mm or11500 mm.

Options• TSC; Torch Service Centre. Mechanical torch

cleaner and tool center point definer (BullsEye)including a wire cutter.

• SmarTac; a tactile sensor using the torch gas nozzleto find weld start and end positions in up to threedimensions.

• AWC; Advanced Weld Controller is a through thearc joint tracking system integrated into the robotcontroller. It is designed to track difficult weldingjoint variations (due to cast components or otherpre-process problems) and monitors / controlstracking, robot movements and welding processes.

• Safety equipment; lightbeams and fences ensure thesafety in your production station.

• Marathon Pac shelf; shelf on the backside ofcolumn for marathon pac type of wire bobin.

• Manual jog; by pressing a pendant panel button it’spossible to turn the workpiece in order to achievebest loading and unloading position.

Combinable components Positioners – choose the most suitable for your productionTwo-station solutions based on two of the following alternatives.

The one axis positioner available for this package is IRBP L-type. The work piecerotates around a horizontal axis. It’s available in three different models designed forwork pieces with weights of 750 kg, 2000 kg and 5000 kg (IRBP 750L, 2000L,5000L). All models are controlled as robot axes.

The two axes positioner available are IRBP 750SH, IRBP 1300SH and IRBP2000SH. The plate is located in 90 degrees angle in relation to the first axes. Thistype of positioner is ideal for work pieces where welding in absolute position isrequired. It may also be used as a tool to reach higher welding speeds on the basicobject as welding in optimal position is considerably faster.

Power Sources – choose the most suitable for your productionThe new LRC 430 power source is of inverter type, using CAN-bus communica-tion with the robot. The LRC430 is preprogrammed for different filler materialand gases by using synergic lines.

The LAW 500 power source is based upon the latest development in thyristortechnology. The power source is of constant voltage type designed for MIG/MAGwelding. The duty cycle is 400A at 45% or 350A at 60%.
