poster would the either metoers droping from the sky or blueish sky which shows the audience that this film has sci-fi in it. As well as the tagline”inner city vs outer space” which says it all, this explains that it could be urban-genre as well as the sci-fi. But this has multiple genres so this film is a hybrid. The reason why they combined these two genres is because they want to lure the sci-fi and sub-urban genre fans to watch the film. Which explains several signifiers.

Characters As you can see in this poster most of the

characters are different. For instance there is a group of diverse of child who look like they grow up in the area. By using these groups you are targeting the gangs and gang affiliated people. The reason why these characters aren't just one skins color is because it wouldn't really receive any fans. Also in this poster you can see a mid age white women besides the children, she is there to expand the audience into another audience such as successful white women who are single etc. This can also bring males, due to the fact women have become a target audience for this film. As well as the fat man besides the children on the left has been put for the same purpose, which is for is to attract a big audience base ranging from 25 and upwards British males. This is because more men like him can relate and once you can relate to an audience you have an advantage. Not only does he represent that mid aged men but he represents the fat people. Also the film company chose this fat character for a reason because he was in funny British films that was successful.

Setting/Institutional Promotional As you can see in this poster you can

already get the idea that this film is based around the an area by the simply judging of the actors. Also straight away by the big block of flats which might be the key location behind this and from the fact the title has “block” in it makes it more easier. Also you can see London in the background but it is very dim and not visible to see which might demonstration that fact it might be just the city the block is in after all it does show the famous landmarks of London city. Also the creator has mentioned the fact because certain actors were in other successful films it was okay to put it on the poster to promote the film and its fan base.
