How to DonateMoney

A corporate account has been set up with North East Scotland Credit Union (NESCU) and is overseen by representatives of the Church of Scotland and the Aberdeenshire Partner Refugee Group. There are a number of ways to donate money to support Syrian New Scot’s families in Aberdeenshire. Cheques can be made payable to NESCU. Payments can be made by on-line transfer using: S/c 608301 act 20139906. When using this process you must put your name and 10017 as reference for the payment. Alternatively contact NESCU on 01224 899688 / 0300 66 63728 or email [email protected]

Accommodation

Our Syrian ‘New Scots’ families will be housed in accommodation appropriate to their vulnerable needs. If you have a property you would consider renting to Aberdeenshire Council for this purpose, please contact [email protected] for more information. Home stays will not be considered for this scheme but if you have a room in your house that you would like to offer to a refugee, you can register with Positive Action in Housing’s Room for Refugees project http://www.paih.org/host-a-refugee/

Furniture, equipment, toys & clothing

If you have furniture, equipment, toys and clothing you would like to donate, please contact Magpie Inverurie on 01467 268087 or visit their web page http://www.magpieshops.org.uk/ Magpie will process donations and will work with families, services and support staff to ensure donations reach those most in need (please note that donations may be used to support the wider community if not required by Syrian families)

Food, drinks & toiletries

Aberdeenshire North Foodbank and CFINE will coordinate donations of food, drinks and toiletries to families. If you would like to donate, please contact Aberdeenshire North Foodbank on 07967 364600 or email [email protected] CFINE can be contacted on 01224 596156 or [email protected]

To find out if there are any volunteering opportunities in your community, visit volunteering Scotland at http://www.volunteerscotland.net/ and enter in your postcode for local listings. Alternatively, you can contact Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action (AVA) on 01467 626060 or email [email protected]. If you like more information about how you could help with English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision, please email Community Learning & Development at [email protected]
