PATH TO EMPLOYMENT

Page 6: AbilityFirst Supported Employment

We are looking to hire soon. How long does your process take?

Immediately. Our client does not have to wait to begin working with you. Are they able to do this job? Yes! All of our clients are screened for their skillset and we only help them to apply to positions they are capable of performing. What accommodations do I have to make?

Most clients need no accommodations. For those that do, it may cost nothing at all. Available tax credits can make it easier to cover accessibility costs if needed. Accommodations I don't have the time or staff to do extra training.

We provide job coaching to help with extra training and supervision. Will my workers compensation rates increase?

No. Insurance rates are based on operation hazards, not whether an employer has hired adults with disabilities.

COMMON CONCERNS

Page 7: AbilityFirst Supported Employment

Are they going to become frustrated and quit right away?

Our clients are screened and prove their commitment when

working with us. This concern can also be applied to anyone, not just adults with disabilities that you hire. Once hired are they administered a paycheck through

us, or AbilityFirst? They will be a direct employee and you

administer a paycheck directly. Is the Job Coach our liability?

No. The Job Coach is the liability of AbilityFirst. They are our employee and covered under our workers compensation insurance. Can I receive financial incentives?

Yes, you qualify. You can apply for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). Up to 40% of qualified first year wages.
