Welcome back to our existing families and a huge wel- come to the 36 new families that have joined up at CSOD. Our Enrolment Day was a huge success. We had a mas- sive turnout, the weather was kind and the day brought a huge interest from the community. There were a lot of new faces which was lovely to see and even though power was out on the day, it didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the day. It was also great to have Pooh Bear come and meet the kids. He looked beautiful in his hot pink tutu. A big thank you to our sponsors, Baker’s Delight and Dance Art for their continued support of CSOD this year and thank you to our teachers for taking the time to liaise with the students and committee. A big thank you to Carlo and Linda Fonteio for running the BBQ on the day and feeding a hungry crowd and thank you to all of the committee for their big team effort in getting the day organised and to our intermedi- ate/senior students who also leant a hand on the day. I’m sure you will agree that the activities on the day proved very successful. The children’s painted faces looked fan- tastic and Miss Penny’s singing was a pleasure to hear. We have an exciting year planned ahead. Our teach- ers are enthusiastic and we are excited about the year ahead! Happy Dancing to All Adana Marchione From the Teachers. Miss Danni What a brilliant start to 2013 at CSOD! It’s been exciting to see such growth in hip hop, contemporary, Boyz Crew and Dance Fusion. I love seeing so many new faces in my class- es (and, of course, seeing the oldies come back for more hard work!). It will be an especially exciting year in Dance Fusion with 2 brand new levels, “Green” and “Red”. Kung Fu, body percussion, abstract contemporary and samba are amongst some of the new styles we’ll be learning. I’d like to congratulate all of the students that participat- ed in the 2012 Dance Fusion exams. 8 students showed outstanding performance skills, receiving a “Gold” for their exam result: Enrolment Day SUCCESS From the Teachers. Creative Ballet and RAD new Ages: 2013 is the first year that the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) new Grades 1-3 are being examined. With the launch of these new Grades the RAD have raised the mini- mum age requirement for entry into all examinations. The new syllabi are more physically and mentally demanding and are therefore now designed for older students. As a result of the RAD changes, we have reassessed our Creative Ballet Program so that students can complete our program and be ready to join the RAD Pre-Primary in Dance class and flow through the RAD Examinations at an appropriate age to achieve their best possible results. We thank you for your patience and cooperation through- out this transitional period. We want to achieve the best possible outcome for each of our students and have their best interests in mind. Benefits of Ballet Workshops: The Royal Academy of Dance Victorian/Tasmanian Panel runs several Workshops and Events throughout the year. These are highly beneficial to our students as it gives them the opportunity to dance with students from other schools, different dance studios including inner city schools and gain further knowledge of the syllabi and ballet technique from registered RAD Examiners and Tutors. When CSOD Students attend RAD Workshops and Events, they repre- sent our school and show the greater ballet community how wonderful our students are.
